RUSH: Atlanta, Betty. Betty, I\u2019m glad you waited. Welcome to the program.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Can you hear me?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, hear you fine.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I can\u2019t believe it, my heart is beating so fast. I just love you to death.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve listened to since when you were on TV, that\u2019s when I started listening.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s 1992.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: But anyway, this is the reason why I\u2019m calling you today, about Trayvon Martin. You have the story wrong. I don\u2019t want you to take sides on this. I want you to stay out of this. First of all, this little boy was walking in the rain with his hoodie on and he was talking on the phone to his girlfriend. And he told her that someone was following him. It was Zimmerman.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, Zimmerman called 911 to tell them that somebody suspicious was walking. So the person on the 911 call says, “Don\u2019t follow him.” But he kept following this little boy. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Betty, hang on here just a second. You say we should not talk about it and you are. In the first place, he\u2019s six feet tall, he\u2019s a football player, not a little boy. But we\u2019re not talking about Trayvon today. We\u2019re talking about the media.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The media I do not listen to. When I listen to the media I listen to Fox.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, NBC doctored the 911 call. None of us knows what happened yet. That\u2019s the whole point here. But the news media and the civil rights coalitions have jumped to conclusions because they want it to fit a particular template, that\u2019s why the New York Times refers to Zimmerman as a “white Hispanic,” gotta have that in there. Zimmerman did stop following the guy at some point, but I\u2019m not talking about that because I don\u2019t know what happened. All I know is that NBC doctored a tape.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: ABC doctored a videotape of Zimmerman\u2019s so-called non-injuries on his head and so forth.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think this kid deserves to be dead, and this is a really unfortunate thing that happened, but we don\u2019t know —<\/p>\n

CALLER: But, you know what? The reason why this is coming out, see, the media does not report anything on black people when they\u2019re killed. They do not report anything that has to do with blacks. This kid had been dead for like a month before anything came out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly, can I explain why to you? I\u2019ll be happy to explain why to you. Because when Trayvon Martin died the media was engaged in some other plan, the “war on women.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know. On you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I was part of it, but they had this whole effort to portray the Republican war on women and —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — until the civil rights coalitions got in gear.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — the media didn\u2019t care. You say, why don\u2019t they do coverage on black crime or —<\/p>\n

CALLER: But they never do, they never do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, they do. They do. When Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton get involved, that\u2019s when they talk about it. On their own, they don\u2019t, you\u2019re right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019m gonna tell you another thing, too. It may draw attention to the fact as to why so many kids in that town have been killed by the police. No one knows about that. A lot of kids have been killed by the police for no reason in that town.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I hadn\u2019t heard that. I didn\u2019t know that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. And Trayvon Martin, people don\u2019t know, he laid in the morgue for three days before his parents found out he was killed.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s inexcusable. That\u2019s reprehensible.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And the parents who were looking for him, they could not find him. They called the morgue and nobody said, “Oh, your child is here.” That boy laid in the morgue for three days.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand that. That\u2019s reprehensible. Look, there\u2019s nothing in this story to get happy about on any side. The problem is there are people who are. That\u2019s sort of what\u2019s disgusting, Betty, is that there are some people really excited about this because of the opportunity it presents. It\u2019s despicable if you ask me, the way — you\u2019re right, it happens five weeks ago now, it lies dormant for three weeks \u2019til the media finishes with their war on women. Then all of a sudden they shift gears to go into this. It\u2019s all about Obama\u2019s reelection, pure and simple. And until Obama or Jackson or Sharpton lead them to a story, the media\u2019s not gonna go there on something like this, \u2019cause it\u2019s all about protecting or building up Obama. And that\u2019s gonna be going on the whole remainder of the year. <\/p>\n

Now, Trayvon Martin, he was killed 60 feet from his house. Where were his neighbors? Unrecognized or unknown or whatever for three days in the morgue, that\u2019s despicable. This story is doing more harm to the black community than anything else out there right now. There\u2019s nothing that is uplifting or admirable. Nothing about this portends good. Just a shame, all the way around. And now with what the media\u2019s doing, what NBC has done with the doctoring of this 911 call, that\u2019s beyond the pale. It\u2019s an attempt to inflame. It\u2019s an attempt to spread hate. It\u2019s an attempt to influence a criminal investigation with lies and distortions. It\u2019s reprehensible. It\u2019s not doing anybody any good.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
