RUSH: Last night ABC World News Tonight correspondent Cecilia Vega was reporting about gasoline prices. She had this exchange with the anchorette, Diane Sawyer.<\/p>\n
VEGA: Diane, look at this. (chuckling) It\u2019s almost too unbelievable to believe! Just while we were on the air during those two minutes of that story, the gas prices here at this station went up by 10\u00c2\u00a2! It was 4.99, now it\u2019s 5.09 for a gallon of regular gas here at this station in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
SAWYER: (incredulous) It went up 10 cents!<\/p>\n
VEGA: (giggling) 10\u00c2\u00a2 during that two minutes (giggling) while we were on the air!<\/p>\n
SAWYER: Don\u2019t blink at the gasoline station!<\/p>\n
SAWYER: This is a shelter. Some of these people here for days, and, loooook! It\u2019s recycling! (giggling) Organized for recycling.<\/p>\n
WOMAN: Plastic, combustible burnable, cans.<\/p>\n
RUSH: (impression) “It\u2019s recycling! (orgasmic) Organized recycling. I mean, they just had an earthquake, and they have the — the — the presence of mind and the — the social conscience to recycle! It\u2019s recycliiiiiiing! Look!”<\/p>\n
“Ten cents a gallon? Don\u2019t blink at the gasoline station!”<\/p>\n
“Yeah, Diane! It\u2019s almost too unbelievable to believe.”<\/p>\n
And again, grab audio sound bite number eight. This is after the earthquake in Japan.<\/p>\n
SAWYER: This is a shelter. Some of these people here for days, and, loooook! It\u2019s recycling! (giggling) Organized for recycling.<\/p>\n
WOMAN: Plastic, combustible burnable, cans.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh-ho-ho! It\u2019s orgasmic, recycling. (Diane Sawyer impression) Oh-ho-ho! Recycliiiing.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, President Obama was on CNBC\u2019s Your Money on June 10th of 2008, and John Harwood, the chief Washington correspondent for State-Controlled CNBC, said, “These high gasoline prices…” This is 2008. This is during the presidential campaign. Obama is still a senator and the most prominent thing in his political career has been infanticide at this point, and John Harwood says: “Any chance these high gas prices could help us?” Can you imagine that question being asked to George W. Bush? “Mr. President, hi! John Harwood here from CNBC. Any chance these high gasoline prices could be helpful?” And, of course, what Harwood means is, “Is there any way these high gas prices can help your campaign?” And here\u2019s what candidate Obama said…<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: But if we take some steps right now to help people make the adjustment, first of all by putting more money into their pockets, but also by encouraging the market to adapt to these new circumstances more quickly, particularly US automakers.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I would have preferred the price get to $4 a little more gradually. That\u2019s what the price was back then at the time of the sound bite. Yeah, we wish the price would have gotten there a little more gradually. It got there pretty quick, but we can always give people a tire gauge. That will help, keeping the tires inflated. Putting some more money in their pockets. We\u2019ll do that by taxing the rich. If we can\u2019t do that, we\u2019ll print it. If we can\u2019t do that, we\u2019ll borrow it from my buddies, the ChiComs. That\u2019s what we gotta do. This is back on August 5th, 2008, this in Youngstown, Ohio, at a campaign event, Obama talking about Senator McCain.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: Instead of offering a real plan to lower gas prices, the only energy, uh, energy plan that he\u2019s really promoting is more drilling. This is what he talked about yesterday. I want to drill here. I want to drill now. I don\u2019t know where he was standing. I think he was in a building somewhere.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What a funny guy. What a funny guy, Barack Obama. Anyway, mocking McCain and Palin at the time, the campaign slogan was drill here, drill now. Drill, baby, drill. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
