RUSH: Dewight, thanks for your patience. I want to get to this guy. His name is Dewight. He\u2019s in Houston. Dewight, thanks for your patience. I really appreciate it. Great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you so much for taking my call, El Rushbo.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a truck driver, and I be, you know, listening to your show. I have been listening to you for the longest. And the things that you say, I uses that. And I go back to the ‘hood, Rush, and say what you say, but I don\u2019t tell \u2019em you said it, and they agree 100%! No arguments, no nothing. And how you know I listening to your show is because you\u2019ll say, “Well, I\u2019m 99 percent — point nine always percentage right.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh, 99.7, Dewight.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. You right, man. You right. But then… And I know your callers call in and say, “Well, Rush, I know you said this or you said that,” and they try to have a chance of win something. Well, I know on the Florida caucus, now, you did say that Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would have in more votings in that election over there for those caucuses, and would out-beat Mitt Romney. But instead it was reversed Mitt Romney took it by a landslide. Am I correct?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, not a landslide, but it was… And I didn\u2019t predict definitely. I said it\u2019s likely.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I said it\u2019s likely, but that was the first instance where Romney\u2019s total votes were larger than the two or three conservatives opposing them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It was the first time it had happened. But I want to go back. You said that you\u2019re a truck driver.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You listen to what I say and you take it back to your buddies in the neighborhood. You don\u2019t tell them who said it. You just say what I said as though it\u2019s your own thoughts and they agree with all of it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They are with it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, what would happen if you told them that you had been listening to me that day and this is what I said?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I…<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know what they would say, but they probably would look at me like was I funny like: You listen to the Rush Show?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I was afraid of that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My wife, she drinks that… I don\u2019t know if you heard of that “ahrisano” (ph), some kind of tea. I don\u2019t even want to say the name. So I brought it up to her attention. I was saying, “I know there\u2019s this great tea that we can order.” And, you know, I said, “Let\u2019s order with Rush. It\u2019s a tea. It\u2019s a real good tea.<\/a> He talks about it. It\u2019s good. I listen. I know it!” “Oh, I ain\u2019t gonna try it. I — I ain\u2019t gonna do that! I don\u2019t want that.” So I was like, “But you ain\u2019t never tried the tea, so why would you think that it\u2019s no good?” You see what I\u2019m saying, Rush? So I just think we are just being manipulated. I don\u2019t know why we want to hide from the truth.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I want… I\u2019m gonna ask you a very sensitive question, Dewight.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are your buddies prejudiced? I mean, you don\u2019t tell them who said what you\u2019re repeating. You\u2019re afraid to tell \u2019em it\u2019s my tea. Are your buddies bigots? Are they prejudiced?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, Rush, I don\u2019t want to say if they prejudiced or not, but I don\u2019t think that if… They don\u2019t want to hear it from you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Even though it\u2019s the truth, Rush, they might not want to hear it. You see what I\u2019m saying? So, I mean — and that could be bigoted.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So what you think I ought to do? That\u2019s a big problem for me, Dewight. I mean, I\u2019m right. But if they think it comes from me people will just oppose it on that basis alone. What should I do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, Rush, no matter what they do… Because every station that you listen to, you can hear they talk about you. They hear it! They don\u2019t want to believe it. But like you say: I\u2019ll say something, you say it, and bring it to them, they see I\u2019m on top of the news. “He knows. He got it.” The wife says, “He\u2019s good. He knows he talking about it.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, Dewight, here\u2019s the answer: You now have a new responsibility.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have to be my emissary.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You have to take what I say and take it to as many of your friends wherever it\u2019s possible and say it as yourself.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: ‘Cause the point, the real objective here, is to have your buddies understand what\u2019s really going on. And if they\u2019re gonna reject it simply \u2019cause it comes from me, then you\u2019re doing the right thing, sadly.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re doing the right thing by telling them it\u2019s not from me. But now the onus is on you. The onus is on you to get their minds right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oky, I appreciate that, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You gotta keep listening to me and then you gotta keep spreading the word that I say as though you believe it. You\u2019ve heard it somewhere, you think it\u2019s true, you know it\u2019s true, you found it on your own, whatever.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019ll be doing these guys a favor. You\u2019re helping them out. You know their mistakes. You\u2019re showing them the right way versus the wrong way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I heard when you talked about when the Tavis Smiley and the Cornel West and how they were getting on him and I wanted to say… I can\u2019t know how you said it, but I used it the same way you said it, and I was right! (laughing) You were right, too, Rush! So…<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, I know. I\u2019m used to that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s fascinating, Dewight. This happens all over the country to a lot of people. I don\u2019t know what to do about it. This is, by the way, a testament. It\u2019s an example of how the media can succeed in discrediting people that they disagree with. They haven\u2019t been able to destroy me but they can discredit me with people who don\u2019t take the time to listen themselves. I appreciate the call. The onus is now on you.
