They think you\u2019re related to a film company here, Eastman instead of Eastwood. Anyway, I think Eastwood got scammed. I think he got scammed. I think he got roped into doing something he thought was patriotic, and ended up being played. I do.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: It doesn\u2019t matter where I am. As long as I\u2019m here, it doesn\u2019t matter where &#8220;here&#8221; is. Rush Limbaugh, the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_58846\" class=\"alignright\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/RushEastwoodCommercial.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We have chopped up the Clint &#8220;Eastman&#8221; &#8220;PSA.&#8221; Why would they be calling him &#8220;Eastman&#8221; on purpose? Why would people telling me about this be calling him that? You know what I think\u2019s going on? They\u2019re using Apples. I think this autocorrect is changing &#8220;Eastwood&#8221; to &#8220;Eastman,&#8221; \u2019cause these people know that it\u2019s Eastwood. It is Eastwood, right? By the way, Snerdley, did you find any evidence of that ad with the Chinese guy you were telling me about? &#8216;Cause I don\u2019t remember that ad. If I don\u2019t remember it, I can\u2019t talk about it. Anyway, we\u2019ve chopped up the Clint Eastwood ad. And, by the way, a two-minute commercial? It\u2019s not a commercial. It\u2019s a PSA. And it\u2019s for Chrysler. This was Sunday night on the Super Bowl during halftime.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: (whispering) It\u2019s halftime in America, too. People are out of work and they\u2019re hurting, and they\u2019re all wondering what they\u2019re gonna do to make a comeback.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (whispering) Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: And we\u2019re all scared because this isn\u2019t the game.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (whispering) That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: People of Detroit know a little something about this.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (whispering) Yeah.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: They almost lost everything.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (whispering) Yeah, they did.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: But we all pulled together. Now Motor City is fighting again.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard by now that they didn\u2019t film any of this commercial in Detroit. They filmed it in New Orleans and Los Angeles. Why do that? If you want to show Detroit rebounding, go there! How do you show that, anyway? Anyway, that\u2019s the first bit of it. Here\u2019s a little bit more from the same ad.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: I\u2019ve seen a lot of tough eras, a lot of downturns in my life, times where we didn\u2019t understand each other. Seems like we\u2019ve lost our heart at times. In the fog of division, discord, and blame &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, no.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: &#8212; it\u2019s hard to see what lies ahead.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, gee.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: But after those trials, we all rallied around what was right and acted as one, because that\u2019s what we do. We find a way through tough times. And if we can\u2019t find a way, then we\u2019ll make one. All that matters now is what\u2019s ahead. How do we come from behind? How do we come together &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, no.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: &#8212; and how do we win?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, Puke City.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: Detroit\u2019s showing us it can be done.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: And what\u2019s true about them &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n<p>EASTWOOD: &#8212; is true about all of us. This country can\u2019t be knocked out with one punch! We get right back up again and, when we do, the world is gonna hear the roar of our engines. Yeah, it\u2019s halftime, America &#8212; and our second half\u2019s about to begin.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Jay Leno had the best spin on this. Jay Leno had the best line. Last night, Jay Leno said, &#8220;It may be halftime in America, but China\u2019s got the ball and we\u2019re down by 16 trillion.&#8221; I can\u2019t think of a better way of putting it. Jay Leno. So that\u2019s Clint Eastwood. By the way, they didn\u2019t film this in Detroit. You want to know why? Because of the weather. They go where it\u2019s cheaper. It\u2019s always cheaper in a good weather location. A bad weather location\u2019s risky. You might have to delay production, which costs a lot of money. Well, after I heard that, that\u2019s not what I expected. When somebody tells me that Clint Eastwood did a halftime commercial for Chrysler, I expect it to be something like this&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>(playing of parody commercial)<\/p>\n<p><BR\/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"585\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_PE5V4Uzobc?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/line><BR\/>RUSH: That\u2019s the Clint Eastwood ad that I would expect to hear at halftime if somebody tells me that there was one. This ad obviously that Eastwood did&#8230; I\u2019m just gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest he got suckered into this. All this talk of &#8220;working together&#8221;? You know, that\u2019s always what people say when the Democrats are about to get shellacked. When the Democrats are about to get creamed, when the Democrats are on the ropes, &#8220;Time-out! Time-out, time-out! We gotta stop the criticism. We gotta stop all the partisanship. Time-out, time-out! We gotta all start working together.&#8221; Of course that means, &#8220;Republicans need to shut up. Conservatives need to shut up. Stop being critical! We gotta all come together now.<\/line><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can\u2019t change horses here in the middle of the stream. Obama\u2019s policies are finally starting to work. It doesn\u2019t matter who gets screwed, doesn\u2019t matter who got screwed.&#8221; The only thing missing was (impression), &#8220;Go ahead, make my halftime.&#8221; (laughing) I just think this is so predictable and so typical. &#8220;Got to come together.&#8221; I can\u2019t tell you the number of people that approached me now and say the same thing. Last December, a friend of mine requested to come to my house and talk to me for two hours about this, a friend from out of town. &#8220;I\u2019m really worried about America, Rush. Just gotta&#8230; Gotta find some way to come together. Gotta start finding a way to get along.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I said, &#8220;Well, I appreciate what you\u2019re saying. I know. I\u2019m gonna tell you what we need to do: We need to all come together and stop liberalism, and that means stopping liberals. That\u2019s Barack Obama or Kathleen Sebelius or Harry Reid or John Kerry. I don\u2019t care who. They need to be stopped. They are the ones. We don\u2019t have much in common with them. There isn\u2019t a whole lot of common ground between the two sides, the two primary sides that disagree here.&#8221; The Obama position is pretty radical. And because of the Obama position, because of where the Democrat Party is today, it could be argued that any opposition to it also is radical.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_58853\" class=\"alignright\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/RushReestablishConserve585.jpg\"\/><BR\/>Not that it\u2019s realized in and of itself, but appears to be simply because it\u2019s so different. But the people on the opposite side of Obama don\u2019t have ill will toward the country. We don\u2019t have a grand design to transform it. The things that we think are wrong with it are not intrinsic. They\u2019re not because of the way the country was founded and put together. What\u2019s wrong with the country is things that have been done to it in the name of liberalism or progressivism by people like Obama, by people like Bill Clinton, by people like Nancy Pelosi.<\/line><\/p>\n<p>The list is long. It\u2019s not just Obama, but he\u2019s at the top of the totem pole on all this. And there\u2019s not a whole lot of common ground there. There are two competing versions of America. I don\u2019t know when it last was. I\u2019m sure there was a time in the modern era where it could be said that the Democrat Party and the Republican Party shared a few common objectives. National defense. The country remaining a superpower because it was thought that that was good for the world, that America is the solution to the world\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n<p>But that doesn\u2019t even exist on the left anymore. From Obama on down, America\u2019s the problem in the world.  America is the reason the world is in its current state of unrest.  America has caused this with its imperialism, its massive superpower status, its military. It\u2019s run all over the earth conquering it, stealing resources from other peoples and other nations and bringing them back home so that we can have lives of relative luxury compared to the rest of the world.  It\u2019s not that we did anything differently. It\u2019s not that we\u2019re more creative or have more freedom. It\u2019s not that our Declaration of Independence, founding documents, promote the concept of the pursuit of happiness.  Oh, it\u2019s because we\u2019re evil people.  We are put together with evil intent.  We have a slave past, racist, sexist, bigot, homophobes. We\u2019ve got human rights violators all over the place.  Those are the people, according to Obama, who built the nation.  The Founders are no different than the current modern-day critics. <\/p>\n<p>Now, where is the common ground with that?  There\u2019s not a sliver of that that I agree with.  I don\u2019t agree that the founding of this country is immoral or unjust.  I think it\u2019s one of the most miraculous things that\u2019s happened in human history.  I believe the founding of the country was blessed by God because it is so indicated in our founding documents.  Those are fighting words to the Democrat Party today.  Those are fighting words to progressives.  Where\u2019s the common ground?  Where\u2019s all this talk about coming together and acting as one?  &#8220;Mr. Limbaugh, what Mr. Eastwood meant was the nation is at war.&#8221;  Yeah, right.  You guys really came together during the Iraq war. You really joined with the effort to defeat Al-Qaeda and others in Iraq.  You guys on the left were among the obstacles this country were fighting. <\/p>\n<p>All these allegations about the Marines at Haditha and whatever atrocious acts were alleged by the military, Democrat Party agreed with \u2019em, believed every one of them, from Abu Ghraib to, you name it, wanted war crimes trials, wanted Bush and Rove and people frog-marched out of the White House.  There wasn\u2019t any coming together.  Subprime mortgage crisis.  Who caused it?  The Democrat Party caused that with a silly notion that there\u2019s this concept of affordable housing and everybody should and could have the same kind of home as everybody else.  Obamacare, another failed, flawed premise behind the construction and the writing of the whole thing.  With every major piece of liberalism that\u2019s found its way to legislation you find abject failure.  From the war on poverty to dealing with poverty, to dealing with any notion of our safety net, it\u2019s an absolute disaster. <\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_58855\" class=\"alignright\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rush-Arms-crossed.jpg\"\/><BR\/>I don\u2019t know where the common ground is.  I don\u2019t know where there is to agree with them.  Isn\u2019t this, in fact, the problem that we conservatives have with the Republican establishment?  We\u2019ve got people that we think are blind bats who disagree with us and think there is a reason to cross the aisle and work with the other side.  We don\u2019t see it.  We want to beat them.  It\u2019s politics.  We want to beat \u2019em big.  We want landslide victories.  We want them rendered electorally the minority they are proportionately. In terms of the number of people in this country who are actually progressive and liberal, no more than 25%, maybe 30% at tops, we want that represented in the number of elections they win, the number of representatives they have in Congress.  That\u2019s what we\u2019re after, a political victory that represents proportionately the population of the country, the thinking of the country. <\/line><\/p>\n<p>Now, we\u2019ve got an administration, a regime, a Democrat Party, which must and does govern against the will of the people in order to achieve its objectives, and they\u2019re perfectly happy to do so, and they celebrate when they\u2019re victorious.  Govern against the will of the people.  Now, I don\u2019t have anything in common with those people.  I don\u2019t know where I\u2019m supposed to give up what I believe in and agree with them about, when they must govern against the will of the people.  Where do you agree with that?  And, finally, how come we\u2019re the ones that always have to do the crossing the aisle?  How come we\u2019re the ones &#8212; the only ones &#8212; who have to set aside our core beliefs?  Why is it never said that Obama\u2019s gonna have to back down or that the Democrats at large are gonna have to compromise on what they want? <\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Eric. When I heard that, that gave chills down my back. I mean that is something else.  That is fantastic. We need to have something like this ready to go next August-September when college football kicks up.
