RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sir, it\u2019s the first time calling. I\u2019m black, I\u2019m conservative, and I\u2019m American. Sir, I respect you. I\u2019ve read your book and I have been a longtime listener of your program. I think that the Democrats are basically very wrong about how they are about your influence over people\u2019s mind-set, and the upsurge in Santorum\u2019s<\/a> election in Iowa. The Republican people are open-minded people. They are willing to listen to other people\u2019s opinions. And because he is also having an up surge in this election, all of a sudden they think that other people are not listening to what he has to say. It is like they believe that the Republican people are like their people. All of a sudden they go running to them because they\u2019re Democrats.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no. No. What\u2019s happening is that the media is crediting me for Santorum\u2019s surge.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling) And that\u2019s the interesting part about it is that, sir, you are a gifted speaker. You are a gifted person.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The thing about you is, you enlighten people. You open people\u2019s minds of the things and you\u2019re willing to give everybody an opportunity to hear other people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s exactly right. That\u2019s exactly what the media is a saying. I was just minding my own business, I come back, and this is what they tell me happened.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Our last caller, the erudite Bobby, said that he had read my book. You know, we\u2019re coming up on the 20th anniversary of my first book, “The Way Things Ought to Be”. I got an e-mail over the weekend from somebody who is just now reading it for the first time, and they were struck by how relevant it is. You know, you ought to come out with a 20th anniversary edition. People tell me I ought to do another book every day of the year. There\u2019s no shortage of people who think I ought to be doing that, but the book market is just crowded. Everybody and their uncle does books now. This guy was going on and on and on about how relevant it is and how good it is and how much he was learning about the show that he thought he knew just from listening.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the twentieth anniversary of The Way Things Ought to Be!<\/a> That book was number one on the New York Times list for 54 weeks. I ended up selling two and a half million hardcover copies. The media did not know what to do. It was the first time in history that the New York Times best-seller list was ignored for a full year, \u2019cause I was at the top. Now, the second book came out, and it was number one for eight weeks. Sold the same amount of books, but just much faster. But 20th anniversary that first book. It\u2019s a long time ago, and since it\u2019s a book of principles, it is still relevant. Of course it was about the Clinton regime back then, but it\u2019s still highly relevant.<\/p>\n

I could probably put out the same book, 20th anniversary edition, upgrade the conclusion chapter here or there. But class warfare, global warming, it\u2019s all in there. It\u2019s timeless. Now, the Sullivan Group has… By the way, where\u2019s that audit? That\u2019s right, I\u2019ve been waiting. I sent special consideration for this audit and I thought I would have it by now. I thought that new audit, opinion audit, would be waiting for me when I got back. But, no, Clinton ran on class warfare, just like Obama is.
