CALLER: Hi, Rush. I can\u2019t express to you adequately what an honor it is to speak to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I wanted to expand upon the Lawrence O\u2019Donnell interview with Herman Cain <\/a>and his apparent obsession with the fact that Mr. Cain did not contribute to the black community because he didn\u2019t march.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I apologize I\u2019m a little nervous.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, just slow down a little bit. You don\u2019t sound nervous. You sound like you\u2019re breathing a little rapidly, but I understand. That happens to me a lot.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. I\u2019m very nervous. Anyway, I wanted to ask Mr. O\u2019Donnell, if I ever would have the opportunity, what about Mr. Cain\u2019s contribution to the black community by going to school, getting his degree in mathematics where he proved himself to be smarter than 99% of the population —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no, no. See —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — going into the Navy, proving himself there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Going into the business world, proving himself to be a CEO —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no, no.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: — more competent than 99.99% of the population.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. See, but —<\/p>\n

CALLER: What about that contribution?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he\u2019s —<\/p>\n

CALLER: And inspiration?<\/p>\n

RUSH: All that adds up, to the left, that\u2019s a giant sellout.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know that in certain elements of the black community getting good grades will get you in trouble. That\u2019s too white.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I recognize that, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, what you described, he didn\u2019t march, he went to school, one of the reasons that Larry O\u2019Donnell didn\u2019t like him is that Herman Cain has become a tremendous success, and he didn\u2019t need the Democrat Party to do it, and that is a giant sellout, that is embarrassing, that\u2019s embarrassing to people that run the plantation, and you don\u2019t get away with that. And that\u2019s why they\u2019re going after him. He\u2019s starting to rise in the polls now, and so it\u2019s time to attack him. He\u2019s nothing more than an Uncle Tom sellout.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I think it\u2019s gonna get really, really, really ugly —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, it is.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — the higher up he goes in the polls.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the closer we get to the election. I\u2019m telling you, we still have a year to go. It\u2019s gonna get uglier and uglier.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hm-hm. Rush I have one more quick question, a very random Open Line Friday question for you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fine and dandy. Fire it at me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve always wondered what the Spatula City, what the background is behind the Spatula City commercial, when you listen to your program online.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hm-hm. What\u2019s the background of it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Where did it come from? It seems kind of random.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Spatula City commercial is actually from the movie UHF.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh. I had no idea.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, it featured Al Yankovic. Do you know who Weird Al Yankovic is?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do. I grew up in the eighties so I\u2019m very familiar with him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, so you remember the Reagan years, too, then?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was young but I was old enough to pay attention and I grew up admiring him very much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s from the movie UHF, and the first time I heard it, you know, it cracked me up like crazy. And nobody\u2019s ever taken it off of the loop. It just constantly loops up there. Oeople complain about it, “Get rid of it, I\u2019ve been hearing it for 20 years.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it\u2019s funny. I just didn\u2019t know the context of it, where it came from.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. It\u2019s a great, great parody. A grade parody on all these TV — the Ginsu knife, the bamboo steamer, all that stuff, it\u2019s a great sendoff on all that.<\/p>\n
