I have a little inside information on what Ed Henry has told some producers and people at Fox: “In what could be a way of lowering expectations for next Thursday\u2019s big economic speech, aides to President Obama are privately spreading word that he will not present his entire jobs plan in his address to a Joint Session of Congress,” which makes this an even bigger farce. <\/p>\n
“Presidential sources say Thursday\u2019s speech will be part of a bigger plan the White House will roll out throughout the fall with the president hitting the road for speeches and town hall appearances. Aides have already confirmed that Obama will be traveling to California, Colorado, and Washington state for one three-day swing later this month that will include economic events as well as some fundraising. The move could be a way to try and lower the stakes for Thursday\u2019s Joint Session appearance, but it could also be an attempt by the administration to show the president is trying to stay all over the economy heading into what will likely be an uphill re-election battle. ‘There\u2019s no question the president will want to keep returning to jobs,\u2019 one top aide told Fox News. ‘I don\u2019t want to downplay the speech [next week] — it\u2019s going to be substantial. But the idea that this is the be-all and end-all is wrong.'”<\/p>\n
Not gonna be the whole plan. I know, they\u2019re throwing it up against the wall and hoping it sticks, and they\u2019re already lowering expectations within the media for the speech. This is gonna really irritate Frank Rich who said this had better be a dynamite speech and not a mouse.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Politico today, Roger Simon: “White House Furious Over Speech Delay,” and this whole story is based on one anonymous source. We don\u2019t know whether he even exists. We do know that Politico is a steno pool for the White House. You know, in every news organization you have some stragglers, and I\u2019ll betcha if we worked hard, I\u2019ll bet we could find a Politico reporter frustrated, not allowed to say anything critical of the president. I\u2019ll betcha they\u2019re there. They have to be. There\u2019s gotta be somebody over at the New York Times that\u2019s frustrated, they turn in stories, the editor rejects them if they\u2019re critical of Obama or the regime. Probably same thing at MSNBC. So I\u2019m sure they exist at — well, maybe not at MSNBC, yeah, take it back. <\/p>\n
At any rate, Roger Simon: “White House Furious Over Speech Delay.” Really? Ed Henry is reporting that what could be a way of lowering expectations for next Thursday\u2019s big speech, aides to the president are privately spreading the word he\u2019s not gonna present his entire jobs plan in his speech to a joint session of Congress. Then why do it? Why do it? That just confirms that this is a political, slash, election speech. It\u2019s not a plan for Congress to debate. You know what I think? I think that the White House, they\u2019re constantly doing polling, focus groups, I\u2019ll betcha they\u2019ve got some real negative reactions to this whole thing. And I\u2019ll bet you — I don\u2019t know what I would bet, but I\u2019m pretty confident in suggesting that if Obama could find a way out of this, he would now take it. <\/p>\n
I mean if they got somebody leaking to Fox that he\u2019s not gonna present the entire jobs plan, it\u2019s just part of a bigger plan the president\u2019s gonna be rolling out throughout the fall, the move could be a way to try to lower the stakes for a joint session appearance. We just had a sound bite from Frank Rich saying hey, this guy better hit a home run \u2019cause if he shows up and drops a mouse, it\u2019s already a farce. So the expectations for this thing are not high anyway from Obama\u2019s fans, and now expectations which are pretty low are being lowered even further. But now that the regime is putting it out there that Obama\u2019s not even gonna present the whole plan, members of Congress have to be asking themselves, why should we even show up to listen to this, then? Wow. This is quite interesting to me here. <\/p>\n
So let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. This is Jay Carney yesterday. This happened before yesterday\u2019s program ended, around 2:40 or 2:45 in the afternoon, and it was a question from Ed Henry of Fox to Jay Carney. “Why doesn\u2019t he give a speech from the Oval Office tonight saying, ‘Here\u2019s my plan?\u2019 Why wait \u2019til the next week?”<\/p>\n
CARNEY: He wants to speak before Congress because he recognizes that while there are things he can do without Congress, and he will do them, there are actions that need to be taken with Congress that require legislation to grow the economy and create jobs, and he wants to go to Congress, speak directly to members of Congress, and lay out his proposal.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Okay, so that\u2019s yesterday, 24 hours ago. Now we have a report out, “Not gonna present the whole plan, maybe lowering expectations out there. One proposal the president may highlight down the road is reorganizing different economic offices of the federal government.” That\u2019s gonna be part of the jobs plan? That\u2019s something that they\u2019re releasing, they\u2019re leaking that one proposal he might have is to reorganize different economic offices of the federal government? You know, maybe the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies ought to call for suggestions for Obama\u2019s plan since he obviously is completely incapable of coming up with any ideas that will really help. <\/p>\n
You and I together could come up with a jobs plan in the next five minutes that would create instant enthusiasm if people in the private sector thought it had a chance of being implemented. Why didn\u2019t Obama give his speech from Martha\u2019s Vineyard? You know, Ed Henry\u2019s right here. Why not do this from the Oval Office?
