RUSH: Okay, we have some “malcontents” on the phone, Snerdley tells me. You described them as “malcontents.” All right, well, we\u2019re gonna start with one. Walter in Edgewater, New Jersey. Great to have you, sir. You\u2019re malcontent number one on the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good afternoon, Rush. Yeah, just a quick question: If President Obama if doin\u2019 such a bad job, then why are a lot of Republican candidates droppin\u2019 out or don\u2019t want to run against him? Don\u2019t they care about the country?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh, the two don\u2019t necessarily go together: Obama doing a bad job and people dropping out of the Republican race. There are plenty of people still in the Republican race. The two things don\u2019t have anything to do with one another.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but I… (garbled)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll tell you why, because no matter who drops out of the Republican race, there\u2019s still people in it, and no matter who drops out of the Republican Party, Obama is still doing a lousy job.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t… Well, that depends on who you ask. I think he\u2019s doing a fabulous job, and the — and it\u2019s gonna be — it\u2019s gonna be very, very, very hard to beat him. Why —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Walter? Walter, I\u2019m genuinely curious now. Tell me what you think constitutes a great job Obama is doing. What is it that he\u2019s doing that\u2019s great, fabulous? What do you like?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That he\u2019s not doing a bad job. I\u2019ve never seen a president yet — yet — do a good job at being president of the United States. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s helpful.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I just gauge it as they\u2019re not doing a bad job.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Interesting. All right, so you\u2019ve never seen a president do a good job —<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — but Obama\u2019s not doing a bad job?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s why —<\/p>\n

CALLER: And — and — he\u2019s black. The reason why, really — the reason why —<\/p>\n

RUSH: He\u2019s fabulous because he\u2019s not doing a bad job?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Okay. Well, that\u2019s helpful. That\u2019s really… Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Bush… President Bush wasn\u2019t — he wasn\u2019t a bad president, but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Certainly is helpful. Explains a lot of things. Is that the way you vote: There\u2019s no president that\u2019s ever done a good job, so you\u2019re looking for somebody who you don\u2019t think will do a bad job?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly, and — and — and President Obama has something else on the other candidates that were running when he won, for me — and the fact that he was black, uh, helped a lot.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Yeah. Gee. Yeah, I knew that. I didn\u2019t want to say that, but I knew that. That\u2019s probably it. Well, what is it (sigh) that, as a black, Walter, what is it that you like? All the unemployment, black unemployment\u2019s like up in the forties, that what you like? You like the collapse of…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That don\u2019t concern me \u2019cause I work. I got a job so I\u2019m not concerned about people that don\u2019t have a job.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so I don\u2019t care about them. All right, fine. You don\u2019t care about anybody else.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What about the collapse of the housing market that\u2019s been brought about? That\u2019s something else you like as an Obama supporter?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have a house, and it\u2019s paid for, and it\u2019s not affecting me, so I have no concern over that as well.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Cool. All right, so you couldn\u2019t give a rat\u2019s rear end about anybody else. What about the high gasoline prices that Obama\u2019s brought about, the high price of food? I guess you make enough money that the price of gas and food doesn\u2019t matter to you, so that\u2019s also part of Obama\u2019s success story?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, and — and — and I\u2019ll tell you one thing else. When President Bush was president and the gas prices was $5 — I remember that like it was yesterday — it didn\u2019t affect me, so I wasn\u2019t mad at him for that because I figured it wasn\u2019t his fault. When President Bush was president and the gas prices was $4 and $5, I didn\u2019t blame that on him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is why, ladies and gentlemen, if you\u2019re new to the program, so many of us are just literally scared to death for the future of the country. We\u2019ve just… At this point I, your host, have determined that we\u2019re dealing with something here that\u2019s not salvageable. The value here is entertainment, pure and simple. But in terms of substance here, I think we\u2019ve about wrung this for as much as it\u2019s worth. I want to thank out there, Walter. I was gonna ask him if he gets a discount on gas prices. Get his agent! You know, they say we stage phone calls here and we hire actors. (chuckles) Get this guy a bonus and make sure we get his agent\u2019s phone number.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mega dittos, Rush!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, my thought: I had a comment on your malcontent number one, and it just enhances what I already thought about liberals. There\u2019s only two reasons for being a liberal, that I have seen. One is you\u2019re so selfish that you\u2019ve already made yours and you don\u2019t want anybody to make theirs — and, two, they want something from somebody else (i.e, leech off the government), so I think that call was a great, great example of the first one.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wasn\u2019t just the fact that he was so selfish — he already had his, he didn\u2019t want anybody else to make theirs — he didn\u2019t care if anybody else made theirs.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He didn\u2019t care if there was suffering anywhere else. So he didn\u2019t give a rat\u2019s rear end about anything, and therefore being immune to suffering or unhappiness, why blame anybody for it if you don\u2019t care about it? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All he knows is that while Obama\u2019s running the show he\u2019s doing pretty well. Now, you gotta forgive me but I wasn\u2019t interested enough to ask him how it is that none of this stuff affects him. Some of you people might have wanted to know. I wasn\u2019t interested, because I don\u2019t believe what he said. I don\u2019t believe that he was telling us the truth. I don\u2019t believe the price of gas doesn\u2019t matter to him; I don\u2019t believe the price of housing doesn\u2019t matter. I didn\u2019t believe any of that. But even if he was being truthful about it, I didn\u2019t even want to go to how he made that happen. ‘Cause I wasn\u2019t prepared to believe that, either.<\/p>\n
