RUSH:\u00a0 Have you all heard about the latest example of sleazy, lying editing of, in this case videotape, by Katie Couric?\u00a0 Have you heard what Katie Couric did on a documentary on gun ownership?\u00a0 You heard about this?\u00a0 You haven\u2019t heard about this? \u00a0Well, let me tell you about this before we go to the calls.\u00a0 Grab sound bite 19 and 20.\u00a0 Katie Couric put together a new documentary called Under the Gun.\u00a0 She narrated the thing, she\u2019s one of the producers.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know if this is part of her deal with Yahoo News or what, but, folks, Katie Couric is not a good person.\u00a0 Katie Couric is not a nice woman.\u00a0 It\u2019s, in fact, the exact opposite.\u00a0 So she\u2019s doing this show with people that are supporters of the Second Amendment, they are gun owners.<\/p>\n

The Virginia Citizens Defense League that she tries to portray as one of these wacko militia types. She\u2019s doing a documentary interviewing them and her objective is to portray them as dangerous Looney Tunes, conspiracy theorists who think the government\u2019s out to take over land and kill them and wipe \u2019em out, poison the fluoride, that kind of thing.\u00a0 That\u2019s what she wants the viewer to conclude.<\/p>\n

So in the process of interviewing these people, she asks a question.\u00a0 “Let me ask you another question,” she says.\u00a0 “If there are no background checks for gun purchases, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from buying a gun?”\u00a0 And, if you\u2019re watching this, what you see is nine seconds of her guests having nothing to say.\u00a0 The image conveyed is that she\u2019s asked them a question that they can\u2019t answer, and she got \u2019em, she nailed \u2019em. She asked \u2019em a question and they don\u2019t have the answer, and she\u2019s exposed these people as a bunch of dumb idiots.<\/p>\n

Except it didn\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n

The nine seconds is B-roll that was edited in, it was video shot before the interview began while everybody was just sitting there waiting for it to begin, and nobody was saying a word. They edited nine seconds of the group sitting there looking around like they were blank, had no answer.\u00a0 When you listen to the audio, the raw audio of the original interview, all of them had answers and they fired back at her immediately.\u00a0 She\u2019s not a good person.\u00a0 It\u2019s more than just that, she\u2019s a biased liberal.\u00a0 She\u2019s not nice.\u00a0 So this first sound bite, number 19, this is her asking the question.<\/p>\n
