RUSH: This is C-SPAN\u2019s Book TV on Saturday.\u00a0 Roundtable discussion.\u00a0 Peter Slen of C-SPAN spoke with the Brookings Institute scholar Gil Troy about Hillary Clinton\u2019s book It Takes a Village.<\/p>\n

Now, would somebody tell me why C-SPAN\u2019s Book TV is doing a whole roundtable on Hillary Clinton\u2019s 1996 book?\u00a0 I mean, aren\u2019t there newer books to do C-SPAN Book TV on?\u00a0 But why are we going back to Hillary\u2019s It Takes a Village?\u00a0 Well, maybe we\u2019ll find a clue here in the audio sound bite.\u00a0 So the host, Peter Slen, says, “Mrs. Clinton writes ‘Despite the rise of anti-government extremism, it\u2019s becoming clear that most Americans do not favor a radical dismantling of government.'”<\/p>\n

TROY:\u00a0 That\u2019s the Clinton way.\u00a0 She\u2019s singing the song of the Third Way.\u00a0 Yes, we\u2019ve learned some lessons by overdoing it in the Great Society. But we can\u2019t go the Reaganite way. We cannot go the Rush Limbaugh way.\u00a0 I think in the 1990s, Rush Limbaugh\u2019s probably a more powerful figure than anybody else, and he\u2019s the powerful negative force.\u00a0 You often feel Rush Limbaugh\u2019s presence in the book — a negative presence — saying, “We\u2019re not Rush Limbaugh.”<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a guy on the radio.<\/p>\n

So my question earlier: “Why in the world in so important to attack me?”<\/p>\n

I\u2019m just a guy on the radio from noon to three every day.\u00a0 What is it?\u00a0 I\u2019m asking rhetorically, but nevertheless.\u00a0 Here is this guy.\u00a0 This guy\u2019s name is Gil Troy, and he\u2019s a scholar at the Brookings Institute.\u00a0 (replaying of sound bite) Gee whiz! Am I living rent free in these people\u2019s heads or what?\u00a0 Negative force, negative force. Most powerful force in the nineties, negative force is all through this book, It Takes a Village.\u00a0 Speaking of Hillary, here she is on CNN Friday on a program called The Lead.\u00a0 Fill-In Host Wolf Blitzer is interviewing her and says, “Here\u2019s the fundamental question, critically important right now: Why do you believe you would be better suited at handling the racial divide in America than Donald Trump?”<\/p>\n

HILLARY:\u00a0 I will call for white people, like myself, to put ourselves in the shoes of those African-American families who fear every time their children go somewhere, who have to have the talk about, you know, how to really protect themselves when they\u2019re the ones who should be expecting protection from encounters with the police. I\u2019m going to be talking to white people — I think we\u2019re the ones who have to start —<\/p>\n

BLITZER: All right.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: — listening to the legitimate cries that are coming from our African-American fellow citizens, and we have so much more to be done and we\u2019ve got to get about the business of doing it. We can\u2019t be engaging in hateful rhetoric or incitement of violence.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 So many questions.\u00a0 Why didn\u2019t any of this get fixed with Barack Hussein O?\u00a0 We just elected the first African-American president.\u00a0 He\u2019s had 7-1\/2 years unstoppable to do whatever he wants.\u00a0 He said he was gonna unify us.\u00a0 He said he was gonna bring us all together.\u00a0 People voted for him thinking this stuff was all gonna end.\u00a0 There wouldn\u2019t be any more racist America.\u00a0 What happened?\u00a0 Why is it, after 7-1\/2 years, that Mrs. Clinton needs to come in and fix it?<\/p>\n

Why do we have “legitimate cries coming from the African-American community”?\u00a0 Why have we got so much more to do?\u00a0 Why do we still have to go about the business of doing it?\u00a0 Why are we engaged in hateful rhetoric after 7-1\/2 years of the peacemaker, Barack Hussein O?\u00a0 But again, all of this is based on lies.\u00a0 She is now promulgating the idea that it is a legitimate fear that young African-Americans have that the cops are targeting innocent (that\u2019s key here, folks). innocent) black men and shooting them.\u00a0 That\u2019s what the belief is.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not only not happening, when we talk about guilty or highly suspect, whatever, the numbers are nowhere near what Mrs. Clinton wants people believe.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I mean here.\u00a0 Here\u2019s Hillary Clinton benefiting, trying to benefit from all of this.<\/p>\n
