RUSH:\u00a0 There\u2019s just something about it, when you link these people, when you link these people with Satan, they go absolutely bonkers.\u00a0 They go nuts.\u00a0 Like Ben Carson last night, all he did was mention the dedication of Saul Alinsky\u2019s book to the devil, and I\u2019ve got five stories here from the Drive-By Media about how horrible that is, because Ben Carson was linking Hillary Clinton to the devil.<\/p>\n

I remember one time we called Tom Daschle, the Senate majority leader back then, we called him El Diablo here in a parody song.\u00a0 They went nuts.\u00a0 They went nuts.\u00a0 Almost as mad as when you refer to God.<\/p>\n

You know what\u2019s fascinating to me about this convention?\u00a0 And I\u2019ll tell you what I\u2019m having to do here, folks.\u00a0 I\u2019m having to make a conscious effort to watch this convention with a different set of expectations and a different mind-set from what I would normally use in judging and analyzing a convention, because this one\u2019s different.\u00a0 And it\u2019s not readily apparent that it\u2019s different.<\/p>\n

I mean, it looks the same.\u00a0 There\u2019s a big convention center. There\u2019s a stage. There\u2019s delegates out there all over the floor. There\u2019s media running around pockmarking everything. There are speakers on stage.\u00a0 So it has all the trappings.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not the same.\u00a0 And the differences are subtle.\u00a0 And if you don\u2019t know, I\u2019ll give you an example.<\/p>\n

\"original\"<\/a>And Trump just sent a tweet out. Well, I don\u2019t know if it was just sent out, but it\u2019s recent.\u00a0 And it\u2019s right on the money.\u00a0 He says: “The media is spending more time doing a forensic analysis of Melania\u2019s speech than the FBI spent on Hillary\u2019s emails.”<\/a>\u00a0 That happens to be true.\u00a0 And the reason they\u2019re doing it is because this is the standard operating procedure of the Drive-By Media, and that is to focus on anything that they think they can use to blow up the Republicans, the conservatives, their convention, or what have you, and bring nothing but negative attention to it.<\/p>\n

And the primary objective is to chop down anything that appears to have been a home run, anything that appears to have been successful.\u00a0 And so they are zeroing in, they\u2019re still zeroing, they\u2019re still focusing here, in addition to things last night, they\u2019re still focusing in on Melania\u2019s speech<\/a> and the dire consequences that she should face and the party should face over her plagiarism of the lovely and gracious Moochelle my butt — (My Belle) Obama.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t think that the vast majority of people care.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think they care.<\/p>\n

<\/a>I think the media thinks they should care. I think the media thinks they may care.\u00a0 The media knows they care, but I think it\u2019s a disconnect.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what people remember from Melania Trump\u2019s speech. No matter how many times the media try to associate plagiarism with Melania Trump\u2019s speech, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s what most people watching the convention or even hearing about it after the fact are going to think about it, remember from it, or take away from it.\u00a0 And that\u2019s just one example.<\/p>\n

There are countless other, I think, disconnects here because the media doesn\u2019t know how to analyze this convention except one way, and that\u2019s through the standard political insider playbook method, which is to take anything that\u2019s on stage and assign it to the racist, sexist, bigotry and homophobia of the Republican Party, report it from that sphere or through that prism. And that\u2019s not how the people who have ended up making Trump the nominee, that\u2019s not how they look at all of this.<\/p>\n

And I guess the simplest way to say this is that the Drive-Bys are practicing the time-honored art that they have perfected of destroying the connection that Republican supporters have for their candidates and their elected officeholders. And in this case they can\u2019t. No matter what they do, they are not going to be able to separate Trump\u2019s supporters from Trump.\u00a0 They just aren\u2019t gonna be able to do it.\u00a0 They\u2019re going to continue to try, and the effort is going to amount to a giant flailing.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not saying that there are things here that could be done better and there are not things here that are maybe harmful.\u00a0 My point is the media analysts, they\u2019re doing their best to destroy this every day, every night, no matter how, no matter what.\u00a0 For example, there are actual media discussions now that the Trumps are overdoing the family component.\u00a0 Oh, yeah, way, way, way too many family members up on that stage. Way, way, way too many TV shots of all the family members, the children sitting out there in the seats at the convention.<\/p>\n

When is the last time the Drive-Bys ever objected to, say, all the Kennedys, the sober ones they could round up, and show on television during every Democrat national event?\u00a0 When was the last time the media ever worried about too many Democrat family members?\u00a0 It\u2019s absurd that they actually think they\u2019re gonna score points with this. While the Trump family is hitting home runs from the stage, the media\u2019s out there, “This is an overreliance. This is just despicable. This is unseemly.”<\/p>\n

There are now… In addition to that, there are fact-check stories on Patricia Smith<\/a>, the mother of one of the victims of the sad events that took place in Benghazi.\u00a0 And there are stories about how Pat Smith exemplifies the sheer hatred of Hillary Clinton at this convention and it\u2019s God awful to see. “Oh, my gosh, this is the worst example of what our politics has become!\u00a0 There is sheer hatred of Hillary Clinton; it\u2019s just horrible to see — and she got it started!”<\/p>\n

<\/a>So they\u2019re fact-checking her, and then there are the… I addressed this yesterday.<\/a>\u00a0 There are all of these Drive-By Media laments that they are bringing too many mothers of victims to the Republican convention and parading them before the convention and making a spectacle of them.\u00a0 The Democrat Party owns that.\u00a0 The Republicans have brought one mother up in prime time, Pat Smith.\u00a0 The Democrats are gonna bring up I can\u2019t tell you how many. I can\u2019t begin to give you the number of mothers.<\/p>\n

I betcha Trayvon Martin\u2019s mother is at their convention.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll bet you the mother of the Gentle Giant\u2019s at their convention.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019ll bet you we will not hear a word from the media about how the Democrats are overdoing it and they are exploiting these poor families. We won\u2019t hear that, and we won\u2019t hear how there are too many Clinton family members being shown on TV every night.\u00a0 No, no, no. We won\u2019t hear any of that.\u00a0 But the question or the point is: Is this stuff effective in this circumstance, against this Republican convention?\u00a0 And only time will tell.\u00a0 I think this is what it\u2019s gonna boil down to.<\/p>\n

Is there a movement out there that existed before Trump got into the race that he just happened to capitalize on, because everything he happened to believe matched up with what these people in the movement were already feeling, or did Trump create the movement?\u00a0 This is a key question, the key question.\u00a0 And the reason it\u2019s a key question is because it has to do with the longevity, the survivability, and the strength of the movement.<\/p>\n

It is bigger than Trump, actually?<\/p>\n

Will it be around if Trump isn\u2019t?<\/p>\n

I think it\u2019s the latter, and this is not to be critical of Trump by any means.\u00a0 But it\u2019s just as when this radio program started in 1988, the Drive-Bys tried to say that I had created an army of mind-numbed robots who are waiting for me to tell \u2019em what to think every day, when the truth of the matter was that there are gazillions of conservatives out there who didn\u2019t ever hear what they believed reflected in the national media.\u00a0 Everything in the media made fun of \u2019em, laughed at \u2019em, mocked \u2019em, criticized them; promoted people and things they disagreed with.<\/p>\n

But this show was the first national-broadcast-media conservative program, and people glommed onto it.\u00a0 And it\u2019s not that I created it; it was already there.\u00a0 I think the same thing has happened with Trump.\u00a0 And that\u2019s another reason why they\u2019re not gonna be able to successfully separate Trump from these supporters of his, because it\u2019s bigger than him.\u00a0 And I don\u2019t mean that as a put-down.\u00a0 The question is, “How big is it?”\u00a0 And we\u2019re not gonna know.<\/p>\n

The polling data. As of now, there is continued panic in the Democrat Party because Hillary — in the Real Clear Politics<\/a> average of polls — is now up by 2.4, 2.7. I forget which.\u00a0 Whatever it is, it\u2019s in the margin of error. (interruption) That\u2019s right. Michael Brown\u2019s mother is going to the Democrat National Convention, and the mothers of other police victims.\u00a0 You wait.\u00a0 You think Benghazi mothers are bad?\u00a0 Wait \u2019til you see what Hillary Clinton does.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re gonna bring out the mothers of as many people they can find have been murdered by the cops and let \u2019em speak.\u00a0 I think they don\u2019t have the slightest idea where the majority of opinion is, so let them just throw all of that in our faces.\u00a0 Let them have a convention where they rip into the US military.\u00a0 Let them have a convention where they rip into American law enforcement.\u00a0 Let them have their convention where they rip into America\u2019s health care and the global warming.<\/p>\n

Let them have a convention where they try to tear down every institution and tradition, and let them do it in public.\u00a0 And we\u2019ll just see.\u00a0 Now, I\u2019ll warn you again: There\u2019s a sizable number of Americans who are gonna agree with it.\u00a0 You know it as well as I do. (interruption) What is this?\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 It\u2019s already been reported. Our buddy Ben Shapiro at Daily Wire: “Six Figures Speaking at the DNC Who Will Make You Sick.”<\/a>\u00a0 I knew it.\u00a0 I knew it.\u00a0 I knew that this was gonna happen.<\/p>\n

I knew that there were going to be Democrats come out and the media come out and criticize Republicans for what Pat Smith said, whatever she\u2019s doing.\u00a0 You know, this business, the media is just shocked at how much anti-Hillary sentiment there is out there.\u00a0 They really… Folks, I know this is hard for you to believe.\u00a0 But in that cocoon where all the Drive-By Media people live, they believe that all reasonable people love and adore Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n
