CALLER:\u00a0 Thank you very much, Rush.\u00a0 It\u2019s an honor.\u00a0 To your earlier point, I just wanted to say that once again, you\u2019re right.\u00a0 No surprise there.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 No.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 We and this movement have existed for at least 20 years.\u00a0 I mean, it\u2019s been going on for a long time, and we\u2019re just happy that Donald Trump has been along.\u00a0 ‘Cause we basically need him, and for him to somehow do something with the agenda that we feel is important, because we love our great country, and we want it back. And you were right: It existed before DT came along.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want anybody to misunderstand this.\u00a0 Bill, I appreciate the call.\u00a0 This was a discussion in the early hours of the program today on the Drive-Bys\u2019 efforts to destroy Trump and my claim that they can\u2019t<\/a>.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t… A, they didn\u2019t make Trump, so they can\u2019t destroy him.\u00a0 Trump is not who he is because the media has given him accolades and built him up and created this great brand and image.\u00a0 He\u2019s done all that himself.\u00a0 There\u2019s another reason they can\u2019t, and that is that this political movement, whatever it is (I don\u2019t even describe it), existed and has been effervescing out there.<\/p>\n

Meaning it\u2019s been bubbling up and growing long before this presidential campaign.\u00a0 Trump happened to tap into it whether he knew what he was doing or not, and therefore it now has a leader.\u00a0 And that is why this group is not going to allow Trump to be destroyed, because the movement doesn\u2019t depend on it.\u00a0 It\u2019s bigger than he is.\u00a0 They\u2019re not gonna let Trump being taken out destroy the movement, so therefore they\u2019re not gonna let Trump be taken out.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing the media can report about Trump that will make them abandon him, because they need him.\u00a0 They need him as the figurehead leader of the movement. This is not to diminish Trump.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want anybody to misunderstand. But as so often, the media misunderstands things that are happening right in front of their faces, such as this program and its success. It\u2019s the same thing.\u00a0 There were all kinds of conservatives all over this country.<\/p>\n

But there was nobody in the media saying what they agreed with.\u00a0 I came along, and I was somebody who validated what they already thought.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t create any of this.\u00a0 And it\u2019s what is it similar with Trump. So they came… That\u2019s another thing that I don\u2019t think these conventional wisdom insiders get.\u00a0 They think that Trump\u2019s like any other candidate; you can take him out using the standard practices of journalism when you want to destroy somebody. And they haven\u2019t been able to do so in almost a year.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Dan Senor, Republican establishment, husband of Campbell Brown (former NBC News infobabe). Dan Senor was one of the information people for Paul Bremer at the Green Zone in Iraq after we had we had successfully ousted Sad\u2019m Hussein. (interruption)<\/p>\n

What\u2019s this?\u00a0 “Cruz\u2019s speech this afternoon was interrupted briefly by Trump\u2019s plane arriving. CNN found…” I know. I noticed that.\u00a0 Cruz is out there giving speech and so forth revving up the crowd, and all of a sudden they switch to Trump\u2019s plane arriving and landing and then taxiing in, and they didn\u2019t ever go back to the Cruz speech, did they? (interruption) Oh, Cruz could see the plane coming in as CNN cut away. (interruption)\u00a0 All right.\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 And they never went back to the Cruz speech.<\/p>\n

So, well, somebody… You know, it was known what time Trump\u2019s gonna arrive, right?\u00a0 Somebody should have said, “You know, you need to wrap this up before Trump enters Cleveland airspace, because once that happens, the cameras are gonna go skyward trying to find Trumpist One.”\u00a0 Well, anyway, Dan Senor was on CBS This Morning speaking to Norah O\u2019Donnell.\u00a0 And he says (summarized), “The party is dissolving! The Republican Party? It\u2019s over! This is a disaster! It\u2019s horrible! Oh, no!”<\/p>\n

SENOR:\u00a0 I was on the floor right there during the roll call vote.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been to many conventions during the roll call vote.\u00a0 The energy and intensity during that moment is palpable.<\/p>\n

O\u2019DONNELL: Mmfph!<\/p>\n

SENOR: People are off, you know, swinging from the ceiling because they\u2019re so excited about their nominee.\u00a0 You could hear a pin drop!<\/p>\n

O\u2019DONNELL: Mmfph!<\/p>\n

SENOR: It was muted in here. I just think this is a party that is sort of resigned to this nominee but not excited about him.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 All right, there you have it.\u00a0 So here\u2019s the guy inside the convention. He\u2019s watching a roll call vote, and there isn\u2019t any noise! There\u2019s no rah-rah.\u00a0 “Mr. Chairman, my state, the Palmetto State, the state with more toilet paper than any state in the nation, the state with the greatest smell in the country! It\u2019s right here in our state.\u00a0 We cast our votes…”\u00a0 No noise whatsoever.\u00a0 Senor said that there\u2019s no excitement.\u00a0 I mean, he said this… I know what he\u2019s talking about.\u00a0 He said (paraphrased), “This convention is filled with people who really can\u2019t believe they did what they\u2019ve done.”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s his point.\u00a0 They got people inside the hall here, and it\u2019s just now hit \u2019em (chuckles) that Donald Trump\u2019s the nominee, and they\u2019re going, “Oh, no, what did we do?”\u00a0 So there\u2019s no excitement.\u00a0 He says, “The mood inside the hall — you can just feel it — is one of, ‘Oh … my … God.'”\u00a0 Now, that\u2019s what these guys want to think.\u00a0 So Norah O\u2019Donnell said to Dan Senor, “Well, it\u2019s being reported that former President George W. Bush was speaking with some former aides, and he said that he thinks he might be the last Republican president, that the party\u2019s changing.\u00a0 What do you think of that, Dan?”<\/p>\n

SENOR:\u00a0 I hear a lot of people wondering, “Is the party dissolving?” Keep in mind, it is true that the Bushes and the Romneys and other traditional party leaders are not here, and people in the hall say, “Well, it\u2019s a movement and they\u2019re not part of the movement.”\u00a0 The problem is, Romney only got 61 million votes last time; he still lost.\u00a0 You need at least 61 million voters, more than that to be competitive, which means you need the people that resonate with the Romneys and the Bushes!<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s bad news out there, and inside the hall there\u2019s no excitement, and they can\u2019t believe that they\u2019ve really done what they\u2019ve done.\u00a0 That sounds like wishful thinking, but I know what he\u2019s talking about.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
