RUSH: Well, we have now learned, ladies and gentlemen, of what I\u2019m calling the Affordable Ransom Act.  The Affordable Ransom Act from Barack Hussein Obama, a smashing success.  If you like your kidnap victim, we will buy your kidnap victim. <\/p>\n

If you need money fast and you are a foreign government trying to ramp up a nuclear weapons program and further alienate the Middle East and your neighbors, and, if you are attempting to snooker the United States in the process, then simply call Washington and tell \u2019em you want the Affordable Ransom Act headquarters. That you have a kidnap victim, and that you\u2019re willing to sell it, because our president is into single-payer kidnapping. <\/p>\n

The federal government is now the central clearinghouse for all kidnappings.  No more private ransom payments are necessary.  The government\u2019s even taken over ransom payments.  Can you believe that?  Who would have ever believed eight years ago when we talked about Barack Hussein Obama and wanting to grow the federal government that it would include ransom payments?  Of course, it helps to be a Democrat if you\u2019re kidnapped, it\u2019s almost a guarantee that the ransom will be paid. <\/line><\/p>\n

Could somebody explain to me why Obama is under Iran\u2019s thumb?  Seriously, now.  Why do we give them what they want?  Why does everything Iran want, they get?  We even have, I think it was Howard Dean, I meant to mention this yesterday and it didn\u2019t cross my mind in time. But I think I had the story yesterday, maybe the day before, that Howard Dean is out there saying Iran\u2019s not really a Muslim country, not in the sense that we understand Islam and Muslim countries, you can\u2019t categorize Iran that way.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t?  The Islamic Republic of Iran, the people\u2019s Republic, whatever they call themselves, it\u2019s the Islamic Republic of Iran, but it\u2019s not really a Muslim country.  Oh.  Well, then that must be why we are so eager to do business with them.  You remember when Obama said — this is back in 2008, in July, then Senator Barack Hussein Obama, presidential candidate said (paraphrasing), “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we set.  We gotta have a civilian national security force that\u2019s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.” <\/p>\n

Little did we know that Obama was going to employ the Affordable Ransom Act featuring single-payer kidnapping.  Little did we know the federal government was going to increase in size because it was going to assume all ransom payments.  Now, where did we leave off on this program yesterday? Oh, I remember.  We were talking about Barack Obama\u2019s excoriating Donald Trump for being unfit for office, for being unsuitable.  Or maybe even being mentally unfit to hold the office of president of the United States. <\/p>\n

What have we learned since yesterday?  We have learned that Barack Hussein Obama secretly paid $400 million to the Iranians for the release of four American Iranian hostages.  And if you want, we can go through the list of all the questionable aspects of The Life and Times of Barack Hussein Obama and we can have a plus and minus column, qualified or not, fit or not.  I know the guy\u2019s approval ratings are in the 50 to 56 percentage point, but that\u2019s largely due to the media not being critical of Obama at all. <\/line><\/p>\n

Somebody sent me a note this morning.  I get a note like this from this guy at least two or three times a week.  “Can you believe nobody cares about this?  Can you believe that nobody cares that Obama is a paying ransom now?  The official policy of the US government, we don\u2019t negotiate with terrorists, we don\u2019t pay ransom.”  Not with Obama.  We do all of that and more.  But he was saying, “Can you believe it doesn\u2019t get a rise out of anybody?  This is outrageous.  This is demeaning and diminishing the United States of America on public display.” <\/p>\n

I wrote back, and I said, “You realize that CNN\u2019s not even covering this story?”  And the response was “Yeah, but nobody watches CNN.”  Well, the others aren\u2019t covering it much, either, and if they are, they\u2019re using the administration line that this was not ransom.  Come on, folks, is what the Regime is saying. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s John Kirby on America\u2019s Newsroom.  Bill Hemmer, who had an interesting comment today about politics and the presidential campaign unrelated to this.  I\u2019ll see if I can remember it here. I remember it now.  I don\u2019t want to forget it in the next ten minutes.  But Bill Hemmer spoke with the State Department spokesman John Kirby about Obama and the Affordable Ransom Act, $400 million in cash in various currencies.  It was in Euros, Swiss francs, a number of different currencies, in exchange for American hostages.  And Hemmer said, “The series of events last January looks like it\u2019s ransom. It looks like Tehran said, ‘You have to give us the money and you have to do it in cash.'”<\/p>\n

KIRBY:  We don\u2019t pay ransom.  We just don\u2019t pay ransom.  It is our policy.  This was not ransom.  Any suggestion that it had anything to do with ransom is absolutely and utterly false.  These were two separate processes run by two separate teams.  Now, yes, they were done simultaneously, and so I understand the coincidental nature here of the timing, but it absolutely had nothing to do with ransom.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH:  Just a coincidence.  Why didn\u2019t we see this ourselves?  How did we miss it?  It was just a coincidence that the Iranians released four American hostages on the same day that they get $400 million in cash from us. Hot damn.  (interruption) I know, the Iranians called it a ransom payment.  You can\u2019t trust the Iranians. (interruption) Well, because they\u2019re the Iranians.  You can\u2019t trust anybody but Obama. <\/p>\n

Look, Hillary said that she didn\u2019t hear James Comey say that she had lied. She didn\u2019t hear that at all.  “I\u2019m sorry, Chris Wallace.  I\u2019m sorry, Chris. (stammering) I — I just didn\u2019t hear it that way.  I — I — I… What I heard James Comey say was that the only thing I should have done was have two email addresses.  Other than that, there was nothing to see there.”  This guy, Kirby says, “There\u2019s no ransom!” “But the Iranians are calling it ransom.”  “Well, you can\u2019t trust the Iranians!” Why not?  You do! You trust the Iranians with nuclear material. <\/p>\n

You trust the Iranians to help you fulfill whatever policy you have in the Middle East.  You trust the Iranians more than you trust Bibi Netanyahu.  Is there any doubt about that?  The Iranians are calling it a ransom.  Kirby said, “No, no, no, no.  You people don\u2019t know how to watch what you\u2019re watching.  You don\u2019t know how to understand what you\u2019re seeing.  It was just coincidence.  Two totally different teams here. It\u2019s kind of like the video that caused the four American deaths at Benghazi.  Sure, it was the video.” <\/line><\/p>\n

Except that it wasn\u2019t!  But they kept insisting, and the media dutifully played right along, and right here there\u2019s not… I don\u2019t know if you sense people in the country being agitated or getting a rise out of this.  But the media\u2019s still talking about Khizr Khan and Donald Trump. <\/p>\n

CALLER:  Hey, thank you for taking my call, Rush. I appreciate it, and I thank you for all that you do for us little peons here out in the world.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, I know it\u2019s a lot.  But you\u2019re not peon.  I mean, I don\u2019t think so. No, no.  You\u2019re not peons at all.  Not here.  Not here.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Thank you very much.  So, listen, actually I\u2019m in Deltona and I\u2019m heading towards Daytona for the Trump rally which is happening here in an hour.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Wait, wait, wait.  Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.  There is a Deltona?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  There is.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  I thought Snerdley didn\u2019t hear you and misspelled it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  It\u2019s halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach, to be exact.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  How do you get halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  On I-4.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Yeah, okay.  So Trump, he\u2019s got Anna event in Deltona?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  No, it\u2019s in Daytona Beach.  I\u2019m heading there now.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  So you\u2019re in Deltona.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Yes, right.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  You\u2019re on the way to Daytona to hear Trump?  Okay, cool.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER:  Now that we have that straightened out —<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Are you saying I\u2019m stupid? Are you saying I didn\u2019t understand you? <\/p>\n

CALLER:  Oh, no, no, no, no.  Of course not. <\/p>\n

RUSH: See, that\u2019s “taking it personally.”<\/p>\n

CALLER:  I\u2019m sure you understand.  (laughing)  So you started the show off by posing a question as to why our beloved president would jump every time Iranian asked for something.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  I think the answer is very obvious, and it\u2019s Valerie Jarrett.  She is his gal pal.  You know, she says, “Jump;” he asks, “How high?”  She\u2019s the closest thing to him, probably closer than his wife.  And, you know, she was born in Iran.  Her parents are from there.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  I know that.  I know that\u2019s true.  I know she\u2019s Iranian; her parents are. How do you know that she\u2019s got that kind of relationship with Barry?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Well, you know, she\u2019s the one that kind of huddled the two of them together.  She got him introduced to the Daley Chicago politics group.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  That would be Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and all the others. Jeremiah Wright. <\/p>\n

CALLER:  Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  That other group of people that show us how qualified Obama is.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Of course.  Of course, that group.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  So, you know, I think she has tremendous influence over him.  I mean, she really… From what I understand, I don\u2019t —<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, look.  I don\u2019t know if you\u2019re right, but there\u2019s gotta be some explanation for this because Obama does seem like he wants Iran to get whatever they want.  And if you\u2019re just joining us and you\u2019re wondering why we haven\u2019t talked about the ransom, we did.  It was the first thing we talked about.  I\u2019m calling it the Affordable Ransom Act, and I think it\u2019s a smashing success. <\/p>\n

If you like your kidnap victim, we will buy your kidnap victim, if you happen to be Iran.  It\u2019s called single-payer kidnapping.  You kidnap four Americans and tell us how much you want, and because of our single-payer program and the fact that you keep your kidnap victim and we\u2019ll give cash for it, $400 million.  And what people don\u2019t understand, that $400 million is just part of a larger payment of $1.7 billion. <\/p>\n

The Regime is trying to say, “You don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about.  It was a coincidence.  That money has nothing to do with those sailors being released.  That payment was for something totally unrelated, it\u2019s two different things that just happened at the same time.  So you people thinking it\u2019s ransom, you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about.” <\/p>\n

Well, it clearly was ransom, and the Iranians said it was.  The Iranians, by the way, have been honest about their relationship with us in this nuke deal from day one.  They have been upfront and honest. No, I take it back.  They lied about one thing.  They lied to John Kerry — no.  It wasn\u2019t them.  I take it back.  They haven\u2019t lied.  It\u2019s the Regime that\u2019s lied to us.  It was John Kerry who told us — he served in Vietnam, by the way.  He\u2019s the secretary of state that replaced Hillary, and he told us that the reason we were negotiating a nuke deal with the Iranians is \u2019cause there were some moderates there.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t the mullahs, it wasn\u2019t the ayatollahs, that we had a new moderate Regime there that was ascending to power and that\u2019s who we\u2019re doing the deal with. And it turned out the Iranians said there\u2019s no such thing as that, we don\u2019t have any moderates here the way he\u2019s talking about it, the mullahs approved this deal or not.  It\u2019s the Regime lying to us.  The Iranians have called this a hostage ransom payment.  And it was. <\/p>\n

<\/a>This is in violation of US policy.  This is, despite Bergdahl, I mean, that\u2019s bad<\/a>.  I remember the days, folks, I\u2019m old enough to remember an arrogant little press conference Obama did yesterday with the president of Singapore, and he went on and on and on from his arrogant platform about (paraphrasing), “Well, you know, Romney and McCain, they were okay, I mean, if either one had won I could have tolerated that.  I think the country would have been okay.  Not optimum, but at least they understand the rule of law. At least McCain and Romney, yeah, they understand the Constitution.  And I disagree with \u2019em on everything, but at least, you know, they were okay.” <\/p>\n

It was the most arrogant thing. He gets to Trump, and Trump is totally unsuited, he\u2019s unfit, he\u2019s mentally unstable, whatever it is.  Now, I\u2019m old enough to remember when Mitt Romney was called a tax cheat by Harry Reid.  I\u2019m old enough to remember when Obama and the Democrats accused Romney of standing by doing nothing when the wife of one of his employees died from cancer because Romney wouldn\u2019t provide the employee with health care, because she had a preexisting condition.  Oh, yeah, I\u2019m old enough to remember how Obama said that Romney was so mean and insensitive and he put the family dog on the roof of the station wagon when the family went off on a vacation. <\/p>\n

Oh, yeah, I\u2019m old enough to remember all of these allegations against Romney by Obama.  But now all of a sudden, yeah, with Romney, yeah, he\u2019s not optimum, yeah, he\u2019s a little odd, yeah, he\u2019s a little weird, but at least I could have accepted him, Obama said.  Yeah.  He was a pet abuser, a tax abuser. <\/p>\n

I forget what the attacks against McCain were.  I think they were age related, subtly so.  Was it temperament?  Age and temperament.  Oh yeah, because that\u2019s right.  They portrayed McCain as being a little unhinged. Went off the handle too easily, got a little dictatorial, Napoleonic complex.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember all that.  Yeah, they forgot he was a maverick.  That maverick status, that ended the moment the Democrats chose their nominee.  <\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Josh Earnest.  He\u2019s the White House press secretary.  This is during the daily press briefing today.  A reporter said, “Hey, this 400 grand that you gave the Iranians, was that a ransom payment for the people that were released?”<\/p>\n

EARNEST:  No.  It was not.  It is against the policy of the United States to pay ransom for hostages. <\/p>\n

REPORTER: So it was just a coincidence?<\/p>\n

EARNEST: Iran released five Americans who were unjustly detained on Iranian soil and we resolved a 35-year-old financial claim with the Iranians in a way that saved Americans potentially billions of dollars.  There are many other benefits we can get into as well, but those are the highlights.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Are you kidding?  Did you hear that?  Okay, so what happened was that there were five Americans who were unjustly detained on Iranian soil.  And we, we were really tough.  We don\u2019t negotiate for hostages.  We don\u2019t pay ransom for hostages.  The Iranians just released \u2019em.  That\u2019s all.  And, by the way, we resolved a different thing that had nothing to do with the hostages.  We resolved a 35-year-old financial claim of the Iranians in a way that saved Americans potentially billions. <\/p>\n

So, in other words, we snookered the Iranians.  For some reason they gave up the five sailors and then we snookered \u2019em on the same day.  We gave \u2019em 400 grand, which in effect — by the way, the next bite, I\u2019m not gonna play if for time, the next bite he says the money was for Iran to build up it\u2019s infrastructure. Kind of like we did with our stimulus package, you remember that back in 2009. So we gave \u2019em 400 grand for their stimulus, to rebuild roads and bridges and schools in Iran.  But we got a big deal out of this, Earnest said, yeah, because we actually could have paid much more than that, but we snookered them.  He didn\u2019t use the word, but that\u2019s how they\u2019re trying to sell this.  And of course the Drive-Bys eat it up and report it, and the low-information crowd swallows it.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
