RUSH:  There\u2019s a big… Eh, call it a news story. There\u2019s a big deal floating around that the father of Omar Mateen, the Islamist supremacist who blew up the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, apparently this guy… Well, not apparently. He did.  The father of Omar Siddiqui Mateen went to a Hillary Clinton rally yesterday and was seated right behind her, and everybody\u2019s noticed this, and a lot of people are talking.  CNN\u2019s trying to cover it up. “No big deal there! Nothing to see here!”<\/p>\n

But people are wondering, “What in the world\u2019s going on?”  My take on this is somebody had better get to Trump and tell him not to talk about this.  I think it\u2019s another setup.  I think it\u2019s a trap.  I think putting this guy\u2019s dad there and having everybody… When the Drive-By Media starts talking about this, they are trying to once again sucker Trump into making some kind of comment that\u2019s gonna occupy the news for a week.  Why in the world would Hillary Clinton want this guy\u2019s dad\u2019s support?<\/line><\/p>\n

The story is that she didn\u2019t know and that some staffer screwed up. It had to be that some staffer who put the event together and really screwed up.  Yeah, well, who told the media he was there?  Everything I\u2019ve gathered is it was a local Florida TV station that noticed it first and ran around and started asking people, but how in the world does that happen?  “Are you saying, Rush, you don\u2019t think that they should try to make political hay out?”  Well, you can go ahead and try, but you better… Okay, so the guy\u2019s father is sitting behind Hillary. <\/p>\n

So the guy who blew up the Pulse nightclub is a big Democrat supporter, loves Hillary Clinton.  Fine.  Say that.  But I just… Given what happened with the Khans and knowing full-well how the Democrat Party operates here, this thing wreaks of a potential… I\u2019m not saying that it is, but I\u2019m saying it wreaks of bait that once again the Democrats or somebody is hoping that Trump will use this or see this and make some flippant, offhand comment that can be portrayed as bashing or insulting to Muslims. <\/p>\n

I can\u2019t imagine Hillary Clinton wants this story out in Florida for the LGBTQ to see, absent a Trump comment about it that she could bash. <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got some audio sound bites on this.  We\u2019re gonna get to \u2019em here in just a second.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, even Alice Stewart, who was one of the staffers for Ted Cruz, has exonerated Hillary in the fact that Omar Mateen\u2019s dad sitting in the audience right behind her on stage. Alice Stewart even thinks that some Hillary staffer screwed up.  We\u2019ll let you hear all this in the audio sound bites coming. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH:  No, no, there\u2019s no mistake about it.  This guy Siddiqui Mateen, his father — Omar Mateen\u2019s dad — supports Hillary Clinton.  The guy makes signs. The guy made a big yellow sign he\u2019s carrying around.  “Hillary Clinton makes the biggest investment since World War II, good for national security.”  And he quotes this ex-CIA chief, Mike Morell: “Hillary told the truth about Benghazi.” “Gun control laws!”  So the father of the shooter in the Orlando massacre at the gay bar is a big Hillary supporter. <\/p>\n

Now, is Hillary going to be asked by the media to denounce Siddiqui Mateen?  Is Hillary going to be asked to distance herself from him? (interruption) What do you mean, why? Well, the Drive-Bys went out there and demanded that Donald Trump denounce David Duke. (interruption)  What do you mean, “Well”? (laughing) I\u2019m speaking rhetorically.  I, of course, know the media is not going to cover it. The media is gonna turn this guy into a hero.  The media\u2019s gonna turn this into, “See?  See?  It couldn\u2019t have been this man that inspired Siddiqui!<\/line><\/p>\n

“Therefore, it couldn\u2019t have been Islam.”  That\u2019s what this guy\u2019s support for Hillary does.  It enables everybody to say, “Ah see? This guy, he was a one-off lunatic.  He was so deranged — he was seriously, sadly unbalanced — it had nothing to do with Islam.  Why, he blew up the gay bar in Orlando because… After all, look! His father is a brilliant man. He supports Hillary Clinton and understands how great she will be for the world and so forth and so on.” <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Hillary\u2019s campaign is claiming they didn\u2019t know that this guy was a supporter.  She began her remarks at this event… By the way, by the way, I have not been able to confirm this.  There is so much out there.  But apparently there were only 150 people at this rally, and Drive-By news organizations have actually Photoshopped pictures — still shots — to make it look like thousands were there. But it\u2019s been claimed by a couple places. I\u2019m not quite comfortable in saying, “Yep, that\u2019s exactly what happened!”<\/p>\n

Except that I do know that she is not drawing crowds.  She\u2019s not drawing crowds at all, wherever she goes, folks.  Actually, what makes this interesting is that Trump\u2019s crowds are still as large as ever, and they\u2019re still as enthusiastic as ever.  They\u2019re still as energetic and upbeat as ever.  And we\u2019re told that doesn\u2019t matter, that you can\u2019t look at crowd size and crowd enthusiasm.  What you have to look at is the polls — and, of course, there\u2019s a new poll out today, the Monmouth poll, and it\u2019s got Trump down every which way you can be down, and it\u2019s down by 10 points.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the worst poll that Trump\u2019s had since the convention.  I mean, it is a horrible poll for Donald Trump.  And when people say, “Yeah, but the polls… Look at the crowds Trump\u2019s drawing.”  “Ah, you can\u2019t look at it crowds Trump\u2019s drawing.”  “What about the fact nobody\u2019s showing to hear Hillary?”  “Well, no, you can\u2019t extrapolate that, either.”  So none of what you see, the experts tell you, is relevant. “None of what you see and none of what you experience means anything.  You have to go by what we are telling you as a result of our polling data.” <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites on this, just a couple here.  This is John Berman at CNN this morning talking about Siddiqui Mateen, the father of the Orlando terrorist, Omar Siddiqui Mateen.  Again this guy is seated right behind her, right over her left shoulder — and the first thing, by the way, she mentioned according to reports… Hillary began her remarks by talking about the shooting at the nightclub, \u2019cause she was there. Her event was near there.  Anyway, here\u2019s how CNN dealt with this…<\/line><\/p>\n

BERMAN:  A strange chapter in this campaign that happened overnight.  A lot of us didn\u2019t notice it yesterday, but during Hillary Clinton\u2019s event in Kissimmee — which apparently I\u2019ve been saying wrong for dozens of years. In Florida, Hillary Clinton did an event.<\/p>\n

BOLDUAN: (giggling)<\/p>\n

BERMAN:  Sitting behind her on the stage — you can see it right there! — that\u2019s the father of the Orlando shooter.  He says he went to the event… He essentially says that he likes Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  He doesn\u2019t “essentially say” that he likes Hillary. He\u2019s made this gigantic yellow sign that he carries around, and he holds it up. It\u2019s so big he has to extend his arms as wide as he can to hold the sign. (summarized)  “Hillary Clinton makes the biggest investment since World War II.  Hillary Clinton good for national security.”  “Hillary Clinton ex-CIA chief Morell: Hillary told the truth about Benghazi.”  “Hillary Clinton: Gun control.”  The guy\u2019s all-in for her.  And it was Channel 5, here, Mr. Snerdley, that caught up with the guy and televised his sign.<\/p>\n

They televised him holding his sign. (interruption) That\u2019s right. Our local guys at the local NBC affiliate, WPTV Channel 5, they were on the case. They found the guy, they found the guy carrying his sign, they found the guy holding up his sign. They\u2019re interviewing him, and he\u2019s all-in for Hillary.  Now, if this were reversed, and if this were Trump, I guarantee you the media would be all over Trump today demanding to know how in the hell the guy even got in.<\/p>\n

“What does it mean? When are you gonna denounce this man? Doesn\u2019t this destroy your campaign, that the father of the anti-gay bomber at the Pulse nightclub loves you?  Doesn\u2019t that…? Well, how can…?” Of course no similar occurrence with Hillary is taking place.  The Drive-Bys are acting shocked that they missed it.  Right.  But this is interesting.  Alice Stewart, who was a spokesman and a strategist and an advisor for Ted Cruz, was on CNN later this morning.<\/p>\n

She was talking to one of their infobabes there, Kate Bolduan, who said, “Alice, as somebody\u2019s who\u2019s been high up in campaigns, you understand optics, and you know kind of how these rallies are kind of set up.”  You kind of know how they\u2019re kind of set up.  “Did someone screw up here, Alice, do you think?”<\/p>\n

STEWART:  That is a major advance team failure right there.  For that man to get back there and, uh, g-get past the advance team\u2019s carefully choreographed background. Uh, it — it — it\u2019s not a good sign.  It\u2019s certainly not his fault.  It\u2019s, uh, certainly not, uh, Hillary\u2019s fault.  I\u2019m sure someone, uh, is sitting down right now and getting, uh, a tongue lashing because that\u2019s something that should not happen in these kind of events.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Yeah, because in Hillary\u2019s events, they are scripted. They are controlled like no other events are controlled.  But here you have a Ted Cruz supporter totally exonerating Mrs. Clinton.  She couldn\u2019t possibly have known, because if Mrs. Clinton would have been told or if she had known this guy — Omar Siddiqui Mateen whatever — would never have gotten in there. (interruption)  The Official Program Observer has a question.  What is the question? (interruption) Mmm-hmmm. (interruption) Right. (interruption) <\/line><\/p>\n

Well, that\u2019s what I\u2019ve been wondering, too.  What\u2019s wrong with the guy sitting back there?  He didn\u2019t do anything.  He didn\u2019t blow up the gay bar. He didn\u2019t blow up the nightclub.  I mean, somebody from his sperm club did, but he didn\u2019t, and Islam is a religion of peace.  There\u2019s no terrorism in Islam. So what\u2019s the big deal here?  Why does it matter that the father of somebody who blew up a gay nightclub happens to be a supporter of Hillary Clinton?  But apparently it\u2019s very, very nerve-wracking.  Apparently, the Hillary campaign is not at all happy about this.<\/p>\n

I just want to reiterate to you that I\u2019m not sure I buy this that it was a screw up.  I think that this could be — could have been — an attempt at putting Khizr Khan Jr. up there.  This could have been a potential trap to lure Trump into making what they think is another impolitic, inappropriate comment so that they could… I mean, that\u2019s how these people operate, and I wouldn\u2019t put that past the Clinton campaign or anybody running it for a moment.  <\/p>\n

RUSH:  You guys remember the name Dylann Roof?  Name ring a bell? Remember the South Carolina church shooting?  Imagine if his dad showed up at a Trump rally. (interruption) Oh what?  What did you say?  (interruption) Oh, what?  (interruption) “Oh, [excrement],” you said?  Now, imagine if that had happened.  You think Trump would have been exonerated? “Oh, he couldn\u2019t possibly have known that Dylann Roof\u2019s dad was there. No way!  Some staffer\u2019s head\u2019s gotta roll for that.” <\/p>\n

You think they would say that? <\/p>\n

I kinda don\u2019t think so.  <\/p>\n

MATEEN:  Clinton is good for United State (sic) versus, uhh, Donald Trump.  Very important for United State of America, especially the election.  I was invited by Democratic Party.  I\u2019m a member!  So, as a member I get the invitations.  It\u2019s a democratic party, so everybody can join.  Why they should be surprised? <\/p>\n

RUSH:  That is Saddiqui Mateen.  That is the father of Omar Mateen that blew up the gay bar, interviewed a Channel 5, WPTV Eyewitness News, West Palm Beach. He\u2019s being interviewed about his support for Hillary Clinton. (impression) “Clinton is good for United States versus Donald Trump.  Very important.”  Here. Now that you know who it is — it\u2019s the father of the terrorist who blew up the gay bar, the Pulse nightclub in on Orlando — extolling the virtues of Hillary Clinton.  Will she be asked to explain this, to accept this endorsement, to want to meet this guy?<\/p>\n

RUSH: He was invited.  He says he was invited by the Democrat Party.  Yeah, every party member gets one of those invitations.  That\u2019s why it\u2019s the “democratic” party: Everybody can go.  Remember this guy was seated in that select few people that sit behind her as she\u2019s doing this appearance.  Behind any candidate, that\u2019s primo territory.  Those are the people they want the audience to see.  It\u2019s usually where candidates display the diversity of their supporters.  You\u2019ll see a racial mix, you\u2019ll see a gender mix, you\u2019ll see people wearing “I Love Animals” T-shirts.<\/p>\n

Whatever the message the candidate wants to convey is who they decide sits behind the candidate.  It\u2019s very, very hard just to walk into one of these events and go to your seat on the stage or behind the podium.  So Mr. Mateen here says (impression), “I was invited! I was invited by Democratic Party!  I\u2019m a member.  So, as member, I get the invitations.  It what ‘democratic\u2019 means, idiot.
