RUSH:\u00a0 It is so good to be back. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be back, and I\u2019ve been champing at the bit.\u00a0 I almost called everybody in yesterday, and I realized I wouldn\u2019t be able to find everybody.\u00a0 So I\u2019ve been chomping at the bit all day, and here we are, folks, back at it.<\/p>\n

And, according to the usual conventional wisdom, it\u2019s now after Labor Day, which means the campaign has really begun, which means that Trump is in the lead, in no less than a CNN poll.\u00a0 He\u2019s up by two points, it\u2019s margin of error.\u00a0 This is stunning when you consider the firepower in what I call the Summer of Hate. The Summer of Hate, the hatred directed at Trump, when you look at all of the firepower from everywhere that you could find, every sector of the Drive-By Media has been launching one salvo after another at Trump. And then the paid supporters of Hillary have been running their ads as well.<\/p>\n

But, even without the ads, just the tenor and the tone and the substance of the Drive-By Media coverage, Trump ought to be at 20% and dead. And Trump hasn\u2019t spent much money at all, and yet he has now edged ahead.\u00a0 CNN is reporting this, their headline: “Nine Weeks Out, a Near Even Race,”<\/a> which, of course, is not what the headline should have been.\u00a0 The headline should have been something like: “Presidential Poll: Donald Trump Pulls Ahead of Hillary Clinton Despite Our Best Efforts.”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s incredible.\u00a0 It is incredible.<\/p>\n

Now, you go with the flow on the polls.\u00a0 I can\u2019t tell you the number of people: “Rush, do you really think the polls are right?”\u00a0 I tell you what my answer is.\u00a0 Yes, I believe \u2019em.\u00a0 It\u2019s too risky to choose to select the poll you want to believe one day and ignore one the next.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t make any sense.\u00a0 You gotta go with what they report.\u00a0 It\u2019s the path of least resistance and it generally is accurate.<\/p>\n

I mean, there\u2019s some obviously outlier polls which get it wrong. And even some of the highbrows, some of the highly respected polls get it wrong. And, of course, polling data is used to make news rather than reflect it.\u00a0 We all know that.\u00a0 But it\u2019s simpler to go with it.\u00a0 This could be — you know, if you believe in fake polls, this could be fake, and it could be fake designed to get everybody all revved up and hepped up and the next CNN poll is gonna show Hillary up by five and you get depressed and so forth.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want to play that game.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to get into that kind of analysis.\u00a0 We\u2019ll just take it as it comes.\u00a0 “Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton start the race to November 8 on essentially even ground, with Trump edging Clinton by a scant two points –”\u00a0 You would think that Trump\u2019s had a 20-point lead and it\u2019s down to two points, the way they write this.\u00a0 Trump has come back, depending the poll you look at, to down 12, down seven, down five, and now he\u2019s up two.<\/p>\n

And in a Reuters\/Ipsos poll<\/a>: “Trump Catches Up to Clinton — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has pulled into an effective tie with Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.”\u00a0 And, if you take a snapshot of the two candidates, one of them looks towering, one of them looks strong, decisive, and, dare I say, even presidential on occasion, and the other one can\u2019t stop coughing.\u00a0 The other one barely shows up.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: On the polling news, in addition to CNN where Trump is up two and the Reuters\/Ipsos where Trump has pulled even with Hillary, “Focus groups of black voters put together by a Democratic pollster found that Hillary Clinton is underperforming among black voters,” and particularly young black voters.<\/p>\n

“The focus groups were organized by Cornell Belcher of Brilliant Corner Research & Strategy. Belcher previously worked as a pollster for the Democratic National Committee. He found that Hillary is underperforming with black voters in the key states of Ohio and Florida and that they didn\u2019t feel compelled to vote for her out of disdain for Donald Trump.”<\/p>\n

In other words, their disdain for Trump does not automatically mean they\u2019re gonna vote for Hillary.\u00a0 They don\u2019t like her either.\u00a0 And I\u2019ll get to one reason why.\u00a0 I gotta get started on the audio sound bites.\u00a0 I got a great full roster here, and much of this is explained when we go to the audio sound bites.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
