{"id":214357,"date":"2016-09-07T18:28:54","date_gmt":"2016-09-07T22:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/172.24.32.11\/daily\/2016\/09\/07\/how_goldman_sachs_prevents_employees_from_donating_to_trump_pence\/"},"modified":"2017-07-13T10:25:39","modified_gmt":"2017-07-13T14:25:39","slug":"how_goldman_sachs_prevents_employees_from_donating_to_trump_pence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2016\/09\/07\/how_goldman_sachs_prevents_employees_from_donating_to_trump_pence\/","title":{"rendered":"How Goldman Sachs Prevents Employees from Donating to Trump-Pence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/videos\/37\/73035\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/listentoit.jpg\" alt=\"Listen to it Button\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<section>RUSH: I don\u2019t know if you heard about this.\u00a0 Did you hear what Goldman Sachs has done? \u00a0Now, Goldman Sachs, the big investment bank in New York, Lloyd Blankfein is the CEO, I remember it was a Super Bowl, Super Bowl in Indianapolis.\u00a0 It was the New York Giants against the New England Patriots.\u00a0 I was with some NFL people prior to the game.\u00a0 Blankfein was there, came up to me, he said, &#8220;You don\u2019t know who I am, but I know who you are.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And I said, &#8220;The hell I don\u2019t know who you are.\u00a0 I sure as heck know who you are.&#8221;\u00a0 And he smiled.\u00a0 He lives in Bob Costas\u2019 building in Manhattan.\u00a0 And then he\u2019s got, I don\u2019t know, homes in &#8212; anyway, runs Goldman Sachs.\u00a0 He was a nice guy.\u00a0 Don\u2019t misunderstand.\u00a0 He was smiling when he said all that.\u00a0 Point is, Goldman Sachs one of the banks Hillary Clinton made speeches to for 20 minutes for $225,000.\u00a0 Twenty minute speech, $225,000.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_127222\" class=\"img_middle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Goldman-Sachs-HILLARY-LOGO_Trump-Pence.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/>We may now know why they haven\u2019t released the transcripts, because much of what she said might have been (coughing).\u00a0 Goldman (coughing) Sachs.\u00a0 That may be why we haven\u2019t gotten (laughing). Anyway, folks, don\u2019t forget this. She made $21 million in two years doing 20-minute speeches before banks like Goldman Sachs.\u00a0 She will not release the transcripts.<\/p>\n<p>Goldman Sachs has banned their employees from donating to Donald Trump.\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell you how they\u2019re doing it.\u00a0 They\u2019re doing it and making it look like it\u2019s quasi-responsible citizenship.\u00a0 This is from Fortune magazine.\u00a0 &#8220;Goldman Sachs has enacted a set of rules that bans the firm\u2019s top employees from contributing to certain campaigns, including the Trump-Pence ticket.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The rules kicked in on September 1st.\u00a0 They will apply only to partners of the firm.\u00a0 The firm says the rules are meant to remove any implication of so-called pay-to-play.&#8221;\u00a0 What it is, you cannot donate to candidates who are local, and Trump is a New Yorker.\u00a0 And Goldman Sachs\u2019 headquarters in New York.\u00a0 You can\u2019t donate, because that would lead to possible allegations of pay-to-play and corruption and so forth, and that\u2019s how they are doing it.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 A minor clarification on the Goldman Sachs prohibition on donating.\u00a0 It\u2019s confusing.\u00a0 What the prohibition is, is employees, partners, ranking officials at Goldman Sachs are not permitted to make donations to local officials.\u00a0 A local official is somebody like a mayor or a governor, somebody that works in a state or local area, which Pence is a governor, so Pence is the reason they can\u2019t donate.\u00a0 But Tim Kaine is a senator, and Hillary is a nothing right now, but Tim Kaine\u2019s a senator.\u00a0 That\u2019s not a local office.\u00a0 It\u2019s a statewide office.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow governor is considered local and it\u2019s on that basis that Goldman Sachs is telling their employees they can\u2019t donate to Trump.\u00a0 It\u2019s actually because his running mate is a governor, and that equals a local race.\u00a0 (interruption) No, no.\u00a0 There is no freedom of speech at Goldman Sachs.\u00a0 Everybody gets this all confused.\u00a0 Freedom speech, the First Amendment is a government proscription.\u00a0 Your company can tell you all day long what you can and can\u2019t say, your company can tell you all day long what you can and can\u2019t do, and if you do what they say you can\u2019t do, they can fire you.<\/p>\n<p>So many people misunderstand this freedom of speech thing.\u00a0 Congress shall make no law abridging freedom of speech.\u00a0 Federal government cannot say a thing, other than you can\u2019t say &#8220;fire&#8221; in a crowded theater, obviously. But it doesn\u2019t say, you know, when people say, &#8220;Colin Kaepernick has got a First Amendment right.&#8221;\u00a0 No, no, First Amendment doesn\u2019t apply.\u00a0 Colin Kaepernick can sit on his ass during the anthem \u2019cause the 49ers aren\u2019t gonna punish him for that.\u00a0 The 49ers are his employer, and if they say it\u2019s no problem with us, then fine and dandy.\u00a0 But he\u2019s not exercising freedom of speech or any of that, and he\u2019s not violating some &#8212; there\u2019s no dissent going on in that sense.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: I don\u2019t know if you heard about this.\u00a0 Did you hear what Goldman Sachs has done?
