(giggles)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Well, I appreciate that.\u00a0 Thank you very much.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 Oh, thank you for all that you do and say.\u00a0 I want to appeal to your technical savvy and expertise.\u00a0 I was reading recently that Drudge Report is breaking the records, how they have over a billion hits just in the month of July.\u00a0 And my question to you was, I notice that when I\u2019m on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drudgereport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drudge Report<\/a> and I\u2019m scrolling through trying to take in all the headlines&#8230; I notice that the page reloads rather frequently &#8212; every couple of minutes, actually.\u00a0 I was wondering if you thought that might fudge the number of hits that are actually getting. You know, the same person can get registered multiple times within their one visit to the page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.drudgereport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img id=\"eZObject_127315\" class=\"img_middle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/AAA-Open-Line-Friday-Drudge.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/a>RUSH:\u00a0 No, I don\u2019t think&#8230; I don\u2019t think a page reload is tabulated the same as clicking on a link.\u00a0 It\u2019s a good question.\u00a0 I\u2019m gonna have to find that out.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think it\u2019s the same.\u00a0 You actually&#8230; The numbers that Drudge promotes, the record number of hits are actually people clicking on the links.\u00a0 The reason that page refreshes so fast is because the news refreshes that fast.\u00a0 The page refresh is designed to get you looking at what might be new.\u00a0 It is a strategical thing.\u00a0 It\u2019s not hard to set that up.\u00a0 There are a couple things we\u2019ve done at RushLimbaugh.com, and I said, &#8220;Look, can you set this up as an auto reload like every 90 seconds?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And I got the biggest bunch of, &#8220;We can\u2019t do it&#8221; type stuff.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (giggles)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: \u00a0I don\u2019t even remember what the reasons were.\u00a0 But clearly the people didn\u2019t want to do it, didn\u2019t want to.\u00a0 But so it\u2019s apparently not that easy to do, which surprises me.\u00a0 It seems like it would be easy.\u00a0 An auto refresh seems to me not complicated at all.\u00a0 But I think it\u2019s just a strategic thing that Drudge does just to make sure that you don\u2019t miss news. A page gets updated a lot, and, you know, every time it refreshes when you are there it makes you wonder, &#8220;Is there something new here?&#8221; and you start scanning.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 Okay.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s all about keeping you there.\u00a0 Look, every website proprietor wants you to stay there, and they\u2019re looking for every reason they can to get you to stay there, and there\u2019s nothing wrong with that.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want you leaving this program.\u00a0 We do similar things here.\u00a0 We don\u2019t reload your radio of course.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER: (giggles) Well, I didn\u2019t want to take &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 We do content.<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 Go ahead, Rush.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 You didn\u2019t want to do what?<\/p>\n<p>CALLER:\u00a0 I didn\u2019t want to do take anything away from Drudge because I love reading his page every day, but I just&#8230; I knew you were definitely the person to ask.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Well, no, I am.\u00a0 There\u2019s no question I\u2019m the right person to ask, and even if I am a smidgen wrong about this, I will find out about it and correct it.\u00a0 But even if&#8230; Let me&#8230; Dwindling seconds.\u00a0 Even if a page reload counts as a hit, believe me that doesn\u2019t explain the billions of people and hits that that page gets.\u00a0 Don\u2019t think it\u2019s a substitute for that.\u00a0 It\u2019s genuine.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: We\u2019re gonna start in Detroit with Amanda.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad that you called, Amanda, hi.
