RUSH:\u00a0 Let me —<\/p>\nRUSH: To the phones we go here, Open Line Friday.\u00a0 I got a couple sound bites coming up that literally demonstrate, prove the point that I just made about the media, literally prove it.\u00a0 We\u2019ll get to \u2019em in a moment.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got Luke from Detroit on the phone.\u00a0 It says, Luke, that you are 19 years old and this is your first election.\u00a0 Is that right?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 That is absolutely right.\u00a0 It\u2019s a pleasure to be on the show, Rush.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Thank you for calling.\u00a0 Great to have you here.\u00a0 What\u2019s up?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 So, yeah, this is my first election voting, and I want to speak for a lot of people my age that I think are thinking the exact same way and feeling the way that I am. And that is, Hillary is definitely not the one. I think that\u2019s pretty obvious to us. But I still feel pretty fearful honestly electing somebody like Donald Trump, somebody that I feel like could literally start a war with his temper almost.\u00a0 And it\u2019s like, there are definitely things that I like about him as well.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Let me —<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 But, Rush, I called to ask you: How can I feel better about it officially voting for Donald Trump?<\/p>\n
RUSH: It\u2019s a great question.\u00a0 It\u2019s a great question and I\u2019m so glad you called.<\/p>\n
CALLER: (chuckles)<\/p>\n
RUSH: No, really, because it\u2019s gonna afford me an opportunity to try and explain something.\u00a0 Can I ask you…? You say your fear of Trump is that you think he might start a war, nuclear war.\u00a0 What is it that\u2019s making you afraid of Trump?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Well, I have to say, even just watching… I watched all the debates, and when his passion can get aroused, I feel like he sometimes almost loses control of himself, and I\u2019m just thinking a lot of these international diplomatic relationships are extremely delicate. And I just think if he can lose his temper that easily, that just makes me nervous. Like, that so many lives are endangered and he can just start a war that easily just from his bad temper, you know, so…<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 This is… You\u2019re 19, and you\u2019re going through one of these for the first time as a voter.\u00a0 You might have seen a campaign four years ago, but you couldn\u2019t vote.\u00a0 But you\u2019re 19, you\u2019re an adult now, and the first thing I would tell you is that what you\u2019re seeing in this campaign is standard operating procedure about Republican candidates.\u00a0 Ronald Reagan in 1980, the Democrats and the media ran the same scam.\u00a0 “We can\u2019t trust this man with his finger next to the nuclear button! He\u2019s a loose cannon. He\u2019s off his mind. He\u2019s an idiot, he\u2019s a dunce, and we can\u2019t trust him.”\u00a0 What you\u2019re seeing… Now, you did say that your assessment of Trump is what you\u2019re seeing from Trump himself.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: How much of it is also due to what\u2019s being reported about Trump?<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: How much of that is causing you to be concerned?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 That\u2019s true.\u00a0 It\u2019s a good point.\u00a0 I\u2019ve noticed that a lot even just with the media. He\u2019s always made to seem like such a fool. Absolutely.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 What I want to try to convince you of — and you\u2019re going to have to believe me. I\u2019ve got no reason to lie to you here.\u00a0 What is happening to Trump in terms of the way he\u2019s being reported on and cast with the media is the way every Republican presidential candidate has been treated in my life.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Mmm.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I\u2019m 65. What they\u2019re doing to Trump, the way they\u2019re portraying Trump is common.\u00a0 It may be your first time going through it. It may unnerve you. It may make you say, “God, this is… If we had somebody more reasonable, they wouldn\u2019t be doing this. There wouldn\u2019t be so many people afraid of Trump.” They turned Mitt Romney into a walking Lucifer who killed his dog and didn\u2019t care if the female employees or wives of his employees died from cancer.\u00a0 So I think… Trump does not scare me from the standpoint that you mentioned.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re in more wars today under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Luke, than under George W. Bush or Ronald Reagan.\u00a0 Yet they tell you that Bush lied and people died, and we were all over the Middle East.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got more troops in more hot spots around the world than Bush. They don\u2019t know how to do diplomacy.\u00a0 These people don\u2019t know how to do diplomacy.\u00a0 And I would argue, “What\u2019s diplomacy gotten us?”\u00a0 These people are supposedly experts at it? The soft sell, being reasonable, being intelligent, being from the faculty lounge at Harvard?\u00a0 People are walking all over us!\u00a0 The Russians at this moment are taunting us and threatening us!\u00a0 Nobody\u2019s afraid of us.\u00a0 I think Trump would be a welcome change in a lot of ways.\u00a0 But I\u2019m glad you called.\u00a0 I understand what you\u2019re going through.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 They said Reagan was too dangerous.\u00a0 It was Reagan who ended the Soviet Union without firing a shot, Luke.\u00a0 They said Goldwater was gonna destroy the world with nuclear weapons, and they\u2019re saying it about Trump.\u00a0 They say it about all of us, Luke.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I told you in the first hour, let me go about it this way.\u00a0 Everybody\u2019s worried that Trump will not concede, which I think is an outright joke.\u00a0 I think what was happening with that is the attempt to portray Trump as uncivilized, as not qualified to actually function in our precious political structure and system.<\/p>\n

“Did you hear what Trump said?\u00a0 Trump said he would wait to decide whether he\u2019s going to accept the outcome until the election\u2019s over.\u00a0 That\u2019s just not done.\u00a0 We in the faculty lounge so profoundly disapprove of that kind of attitude.”\u00a0 I\u2019m here to tell you, if Trump loses this there\u2019s no question about it, he\u2019ll concede.\u00a0 You know who\u2019s not gonna go easily.\u00a0 The left.\u00a0 If Trump wins this, this concern about what\u2019s gonna happen afterward is totally misplaced, folks.<\/p>\n
You think that Black Lives Matter, you think that Planned Parenthood, you think that all these anti-Second Amendment groups are just gonna lay down and casually accept the results?\u00a0 Do you think the Democrat Party will?\u00a0 Look at Florida 2000 if you think that the problem is on the Republican side here.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m here to tell you, if the Democrats lose this election, I don\u2019t care how close it is, if they lose this election, that\u2019s what has me concerned over what\u2019s gonna happen in the streets in this country because these people on social media on the left, these trolls that habitat these sewers out there, folks, we know that the Hillary campaign has been working with a bunch of people buying militant, violent protesters to invade Trump rallies and so forth.<\/p>\n
These are people that are not gonna wait for the outcome to happen on its own.\u00a0 They\u2019re not gonna casually sit by.\u00a0 They\u2019re doing everything they can to shape the outcome of the election just as they are in the polls, folks.\u00a0 And if it goes against \u2019em, I shudder to think what is possible.\u00a0 But my point is, they are trying to make everybody think that Trump is the loose cannon and that Trump\u2019s supporters are the powder keg out there, and it\u2019s just the exact opposite.<\/p>\n
Luke, I know you\u2019re still out there.\u00a0 Let me make another point to you, Luke, and all of you young people.\u00a0 It is really important.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad he called.\u00a0 He\u2019s 19 years old.\u00a0 He\u2019s scared of Trump.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t like Hillary, but he\u2019s worried about Trump.\u00a0 And I elicited from him that one of the reasons he\u2019s worried about Trump is the way Trump\u2019s portrayed in the media.<\/p>\n
He talked about Trump (paraphrasing), “He seems erratic, he seems he gets so wound up and so passionate, I don\u2019t know if I want a guy like that being able to order a nuclear strike on people.\u00a0 Oh, this makes me nervous.”\u00a0 And I took the occasion to point out that they try to rouse that fear about every Republican nominee — Goldwater, Reagan, not specifically George W. Bush, but they went at it in the same way, “stupid,” inexperienced, dummkopf, doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing.\u00a0 You ever heard George Bush speak?\u00a0 He can\u2019t talk, he\u2019s an idiot.\u00a0 This is what they said about him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But Luke, here\u2019s the thing.\u00a0 This is what you need to know.\u00a0 You don\u2019t need to worry about Donald Trump and nuclear weapons.\u00a0 You need to worry about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 They have authorized nuclear weapons for Iran, Luke.\u00a0 The world\u2019s state sponsor of terrorism is now on path, sanctioned by the United States, to create nuclear weapons.\u00a0 We are going to make it possible for them.<\/p>\n

We have eliminated all sanctions against them. We have paid them $1.7 billion after lifting those sanctions, including a $400 million cash ransom in foreign currencies to release American sailors that Iran was holding hostage. You want to talk about…? We\u2019re dealing with abject incompetence, Luke, in both cases of Obama and Hillary Clinton — and incompetence is the nicest categorization.\u00a0 It could be worse.\u00a0 There could be something else other than they\u2019re nice, to explain this — or naive or what have you.<\/p>\n
But if you\u2019re gonna sit there and be worried about what Trump would do with nuclear weapons, you\u2019ve got to know that it\u2019s Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton who have made it possible for Iran to nuke up, and that\u2019s in nobody\u2019s best interests.\u00a0 That\u2019s not in the best interests of our ally, Israel.\u00a0 It\u2019s not in the best interests of ourselves.\u00a0 Trump is not your concern in this regard.\u00a0 Hillary Clinton is.\u00a0 Obama and Hillary happily enabling Iran to become a nuclear power.\u00a0 And they would be… Well, Israel has never admitted it, but we know they have nukes.<\/p>\n
That would be Iran and Israel in the Middle East.\u00a0 Pakistan off to the west has nukes — and, of course, the Russians do.\u00a0 But this is entirely irresponsible.\u00a0 You know, and Hillary\u2019s running around talk about what a great deal it was, and Obama\u2019s running around talking about what a great deal it was, and Trump is characterizing it as one of the dumbest and stupid deals.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
