RUSH: Now, as we established last week, the Democrats are still seething over my saying back on January 16th, 2009, four days before Obama was inaugurated, Wall Street Journal called and said, “Look, we\u2019re putting an op-ed together here of a bunch of people, 400 words on what you hope for Obama\u2019s presidency.” \u00a0And I said, “I don\u2019t need 400 words. \u00a0I can do it in four.” \u00a0They said, “What\u2019s that?” \u00a0I said, “I hope he fails.”\u00a0They said, “We\u2019re not gonna publish that.” \u00a0I said, “Okay.” So I told the story on the air, and everybody knew what I meant. \u00a0And yet they took it and ran with it that I personally wanted Obama, I wanted Obama\u2019s presidency to fail. I wanted the country to fail is what they said. \u00a0And they knew that wasn\u2019t the case, but they were salivating. They said, “Man, can we use this, can we use this to expose these Republicans, they hate Obama. We can wrap everything we want in it. We can wrap racism, we can wrap conservatism, we can wrap bigotry into all of this,” and they ran with it and they all knew what I meant. \u00a0So here we are leading up to the election last week, and David Axelrod, Obama\u2019s campaign manager from \u201908 is out there talking, “Well, we all remember what Rush Limbaugh said,” and he was corrected on CNN by our old buddy Jeff Lord again, and he didn\u2019t accept it, but he knew. \u00a0Well, Axelrod was on Bill Maher\u2019s show Friday night on Real Time and brought it up again, and of all people Bill Maher had to set him straight.<\/p>\n

AXELROD: \u00a0Rush Limbaugh, after Obama got elected, “I\u2019m rooting for him to fail,” we heard all of this stuff. \u00a0Donald Trump, we all excoriated him when he said, “I may not accept the results of this election.” \u00a0So how do we lecture him and then say, “But wait a second, now you won and we\u2019re not gonna accept the result.”<\/p>\n

MAHER: \u00a0But, you know, when that rooting-to-fail thing came up with Mitch McConnell when Obama took office and every liberal was upset about that, I was not. \u00a0I knew what he meant. \u00a0He meant, I don\u2019t want his policies to succeed. \u00a0I heard Obama say, we want Trump to succeed. \u00a0Well, if Trump succeeding means his policies succeeding, no, I don\u2019t want them to succeed. \u00a0I don\u2019t want him to repeal Obamacare. \u00a0I don\u2019t want him to get rid of the climate deal.<\/p>\n

AXELROD: \u00a0I guarantee you, Obama doesn\u2019t want him to repeal Obamacare, either.<\/p>\n

RUSH: \u00a0See? \u00a0I have served to expose these people and all of their phoniness from the get-go because really what I was saying, when all these people say they hope the new president succeeds, they don\u2019t mean it. \u00a0All of these Republicans back in 2004, “Oh, we hope the new president, we wish him well.” \u00a0No, they didn\u2019t. \u00a0Not really. \u00a0If they really cared about what Obama\u2019s policies were gonna do to the country, they didn\u2019t want Obama to succeed, and they shouldn\u2019t have. \u00a0They were the opposition party, they were there to oppose. \u00a0“But, Rush, but, Rush, what about the election results?” \u00a0Fine and dandy election results, and they didn\u2019t have the votes to stop him anyway but they owed it to their voters to try and stop him. \u00a0We disagree with Obama policies. \u00a0So now what\u2019s come of this? \u00a0Axelrod now realizes that they can\u2019t get away with saying this stuff. \u00a0He now realizes that when Democrats are out there saying they hope Trump succeeds, they don\u2019t mean it.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what Axelrod admitted. \u00a0Because Maher said, come on, come on, everybody knows what he\u2019s talking about, he\u2019s talking about his policies. \u00a0And then Maher said, look, if you\u2019re gonna go out there and say you hope Donald Trump succeeds, you don\u2019t want him to do away with climate change. \u00a0So we\u2019ve exposed them. \u00a0It\u2019s taken eight years, folks, but we have exposed yet another element of the fraud and the phoniness of these people. \u00a0They get away with saying they want the Republicans do well when they don\u2019t, and everybody just falls right in line, says what a bunch of good guys, but they don\u2019t mean it, either. \u00a0So of all places to have this finally put in the proper perspective, Real Time with Bill Maher.<\/p>\n

This was Saturday, CNN\u2019s Smerconish, Michael Smerconish speaking with Sean Spicer, RNC communications director. \u00a0They were talking about me. \u00a0Smerconish said, “Rush Limbaugh says, hey, we won, we\u2019ve got both houses and, you know, let\u2019s go full on now with our agenda.There\u2019s no need to be looking leftward as we advance. \u00a0What do you say about that?”<\/p>\n

SPICER: \u00a0Mr. Trump wants everybody who understands that the American people spoke very loudly and very clearly on Tuesday that they are ready for change, that they want an end to the status quo, that they\u2019re tired of the excuses and they want to see things getting done. \u00a0If you want to be part of that, then you\u2019re welcome to join and we welcome you to that movement.<\/p>\n

RUSH: \u00a0Sean Spicer, and he\u2019s echoing what Reince Priebus said on this program Friday. \u00a0We had Reince Priebus on, he said there\u2019s no excuses now. \u00a0He had owned up to it, he admitted it. \u00a0The Republicans have no excuses now for not advancing the Republican, slash, Trump agenda. \u00a0They\u2019ve got everything that they asked for. \u00a0They\u2019ve got the White House now. They\u2019ve got a Senate the majority. They\u2019ve got a House majority. \u00a0The only thing left is McConnell said, “Well, we don\u2019t have 60 votes.” \u00a0But both Spicer and Priebus have now both said that\u2019s not an excuse. \u00a0We\u2019ve got it and we\u2019re gonna move forward, and the agenda\u2019s gonna happen, and if you want to be part of it, join us. \u00a0Now, Smerconish is like a lot of moderate Republicans. \u00a0They believe that even in victory you reach out to the left, and you tell the American people you\u2019re reaching out to the left. \u00a0You\u2019re extending an olive branch to the opponents, and you give them a little say-so in your upcoming agenda because we all want to cross aisle and we all want to work together and we all want to get along with each other. \u00a0And this is what we are always faced with. \u00a0When we lose, by the way, these same people tell us: You lost. \u00a0You need to hunker down and understand the people this country voted for the Democrats, and that\u2019s what we have to own up to and admit.<\/p>\n

When we lose, they tell us we gotta go all-in with the Democrats. \u00a0When we win they tell us, now, you gotta include Democrats. It\u2019s humiliating to lose, they represent a lot of the country. \u00a0We\u2019ve got to extend the olive branch. \u00a0No we don\u2019t. \u00a0Their ideas have been totally repudiated. \u00a0Folks, I don\u2019t know how tired of me saying this yet you are, but prepare to be even more tired because I\u2019m not letting this one go because it\u2019s fundamentally crucial that people understand.\u00a0Elections have consequences. \u00a0The Democrat Party, the avowed, express, specific policies of Barack Obama were rejected resoundingly. \u00a0Make no mistake, it\u2019s not happenstance, it\u2019s not associative.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s real. \u00a0Obama campaigned for Hillary Clinton on the exact premise that she needed to be elected to continue his policies, and he named them. \u00a0Climate change, Paris accords, Obamacare, Iran deal, whatever he thinks good he\u2019s done for the economy, all of that. \u00a0And it was all rejected. \u00a0Frankly, I don\u2019t get tired of reminding people just how much the Democrats have lost and just what a functioning minority they really are. \u00a0Because it\u2019s at such stark contrast to what they were trying to make us believe about ourselves.<\/p>\n

And here at PJMedia.com we have a piece by Rick Moran. \u00a0“At Every Level of Government, the Democratic Party is Dead.”<\/a>Pull quote: \u00a0“Democrats should no longer be considered a national party. They are, at best, a coastal party with a few liberal enclaves — mostly college towns like Madison, WI, and Austin, TX — in between. In the great middle of the country, they have disappeared.” \u00a0And boy they have. \u00a0You look at this country county by county and how the vote went, and it\u2019s all red, except for New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, it is all red. \u00a0Then you throw little specks of blue like Madison and Austin, maybe Chicago in there. \u00a0At every level of government, the Democrat Party is dead. \u00a0“The victory of Donald Trump for the presidency and the continued Republican control of the House and Senate is only part of the story of the Democratic Party\u2019s total demise.”The reason it is crucial to make this point and to continue making it is that there is no reason for olive branches or compromise. \u00a0They don\u2019t. \u00a0They don\u2019t and we shouldn\u2019t. \u00a0Their ideas are destructive. \u00a0They have insulted us.
