And this inability to accept reality, to me, I think is so important, because many people on the right are constantly trying to figure out how to deal with, how to do battle with, how to beat the left, how to understand them. And it is never understood properly because we assign to them the same characteristics that we assign to ourselves, which is understanding, reason, commonsense, acceptance. They have none of that.\u00a0 So our efforts to build bridges to them for common understanding and so on always will fail.<\/p>\n Because if you look at this demand here for a 9\/11-style commission, what is its root?\u00a0 Its root is that they can\u2019t accept that they lost.\u00a0 In their minds, they didn\u2019t lose.\u00a0 Reality is that they got snookered, folks.\u00a0 They were schlonged in the Electoral College. They were schlonged.\u00a0 They were defeated.\u00a0 There\u2019s no question about it.\u00a0 But not to them!\u00a0 To them, that is a construct.\u00a0 The majority has put together this set of circumstances that resulted in Trump winning, but it isn\u2019t real.\u00a0 So they want hearings to expose whatever the construct is.\u00a0 They want hearings to find out who did this.\u00a0 And in their minds right now, it\u2019s the Russians.<\/p>\n I look at the New York Times front-page story today on Sessions, as I mentioned, and it\u2019s a puff piece.\u00a0 This is so, so extraordinary. So out of character.\u00a0 Normally on a day like this, the New York Times would write a piece savaging Jeff Sessions, and they would bring up every false allegation ever made about the guy, and they would try to pass it off as real. And the allegations would be rooted in that he\u2019s a secret member of the Klan, that he\u2019s a racist pig, that he hates minorities.\u00a0 This would normally be what they did.<\/p>\n But today they write a glowing puff piece.\u00a0 Now, the reasons are clear to me.\u00a0 They realize they can\u2019t stop him so they\u2019re holding their fire. They\u2019re keeping the powder dry, so to speak, and they\u2019ll launch this other stuff after he\u2019s confirmed and when they\u2019re about to do something in the Trump administration that the left doesn\u2019t like, then they\u2019ll try to sabotage it and stop it.\u00a0 If you look at the hearings today… We had a caller, “Rush you\u2019ve always said that the liberals, when they\u2019re in power, are dangerous; when they\u2019re out of power, they\u2019re funny.\u00a0 Don\u2019t you think they\u2019re pathetic right now?”<\/p>\n And the caller has a point, \u2019cause I\u2019m watching these hearings today, and it was pitiful.\u00a0 It was pathetic.\u00a0 They launched their best ammo.\u00a0 They launched the tactics that have always worked for \u2019em.\u00a0 They had Code Pink in there.\u00a0 They had people dressed up like members of the Klan.\u00a0 They have some group of black activists somewhere doing a sit-in at one of Sessions\u2019 offices. The stuff that always works for them, the stuff that has always garnered them favorable media coverage, the stuff that has always successfully been implemented to frighten and scare Republicans into cowering in the corner.<\/p>\n None of it\u2019s working — and in many ways, it\u2019s all they know.\u00a0 They don\u2019t know how to prevail on ideas, because they can\u2019t.\u00a0 Their ideas… There was another poll I saw, by the way, when I was away.\u00a0 And it\u2019s not new.\u00a0 It is that self-identified conservatives equal 35% in America, self-identified liberals 26%.\u00a0 And that\u2019s been the case (plus or minus a couple points either way) for 30 years.\u00a0 The liberals are not the majority, at least when you ask people to self-identify.<\/p>\n Now, in their minds they are the majority, but they know in their minds they can\u2019t win in ideas because they don\u2019t have the support of enough people for their ideas.\u00a0 Folks, this is something we can never forget.\u00a0 This, in fact, is what we were all questioning during the eight years of Obama.\u00a0 We\u2019re sitting here, “Have we finally been overtaken?\u00a0 Have we lost the country?\u00a0 Do people actually agree with this garbage?”\u00a0 It turns out they didn\u2019t.\u00a0 They didn\u2019t have the guts to say they disapproved of Obama, but if you\u2019re asking them about his agenda, a clear majority disapproves of his agenda.<\/p>\n When you put him in the question they will not go negative because of race, I\u2019m sure.\u00a0 But the fact of the matter is, they are a minority, and that didn\u2019t change in the eighties.\u00a0 They were able to make themselves look like the majority with the assistance of the media and a successful cowering by the Republicans.\u00a0 I mean, it infected everybody. So many of us were asking, “Have we lost the country, are we officially outnumbered?”\u00a0 I can\u2019t tell you the number of people I know who thought that we had finally lost the country, that we were outnumbered.\u00a0 And we aren\u2019t.\u00a0 And when you get right down to it, other than the state of California and New York, we\u2019re not even close.\u00a0 They\u2019re not even close.<\/p>\n So the left is in a situation here because they\u2019re up against somebody they don\u2019t know how to deal with, Donald Trump.\u00a0 Donald Trump\u2019s not an insider, he\u2019s not a typical Republican who cowers in fear at all of their attacks.\u00a0 If you\u2019re a Democrat, if you\u2019re a liberal Democrat, you have to have some things in your mind, that the Republicans are gonna always cave. All you have to do is call them racists or sexists and they\u2019ll cave. That all you have to do is call \u2019em people that have no compassion, whatever it is, and their experience is the Republicans cave, and the experience is you can bully your way to power.<\/p>\n And then once you get there you can put all kinds of your people in these cabinet level positions, these regulatory agencies, unelected regulatory positions so that they continue to implement the liberal agenda even though they haven\u2019t been elected to do it, it makes it look like they\u2019re a minority when they\u2019re not.\u00a0 But when they have to win with ideas, they can\u2019t; and it\u2019s on display right here in the Sessions confirmation.\u00a0 They\u2019re overmatched.\u00a0 They come at Jeff Sessions in the way they always go after Republicans.\u00a0 In fact, they\u2019re even pulling back on that because they know they don\u2019t have the votes.<\/p>\n So they\u2019re going through the motions of trying to categorize Sessions as a former Klan member in hiding or a racist or what have you, but that\u2019s even half-assed.\u00a0 They can\u2019t beat Sessions debating the Constitution.\u00a0 They can\u2019t beat Sessions by discussing the Constitution or making him look like he doesn\u2019t believe in it because they\u2019re the ones that behave outside it. So their natural tendency is to bully and to threaten and to allege and to accuse, and that isn\u2019t working.\u00a0 It\u2019s not intimidating.<\/p>\n Like Meryl Streep<\/a>.\u00a0 People are laughing at Meryl Streep, except Hollywood people<\/a>.\u00a0 People are laughing at her, or they\u2019re telling her to shut up, or we\u2019re tired of it, we don\u2019t want to hear it.\u00a0 Code Pink, that\u2019s not changed anything in there today, didn\u2019t change anybody\u2019s mind.\u00a0 An association of black activists with a sit-in at Sessions\u2019 office is not changing anybody\u2019s mind.\u00a0 And this is all they\u2019ve known.\u00a0 They can\u2019t win with ideas.<\/p>\n I actually think that they\u2019re depressed.\u00a0 If you could drill down into the pit of the soul of each of these leftists, you would find that they\u2019re in utter panic and in a deep depression.\u00a0 ‘Cause they can\u2019t stop anything the way they\u2019ve always been able to.\u00a0 Not now they can\u2019t.\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re gonna give up and go away.\u00a0 That\u2019s my whole point; they\u2019re not.\u00a0 But they do look pathetic.\u00a0 They look outclassed.\u00a0 I mean, to watch Dianne Feinstein, it was pathetic.<\/p>\n Dianne Feinstein in her opening statement on Jeff Sessions bringing up Roe v. Wade and clearly trying to say that Sessions was gonna force women to the back alley, nobody\u2019s buying it.\u00a0 That\u2019s not who the guy is.\u00a0 They get away with lying about people and mischaracterizing \u2019em and the media piles on and helps them.\u00a0 The media didn\u2019t pile on and help \u2019em with Sessions today in the New York Times.\u00a0 So I think that they\u2019re trying to figure out what happened and since they\u2019re in denial, since they have not come to grips with the fact that they have been rejected — and, by the way, nobody wants to think that.<\/p>\n Nobody wants to think they\u2019ve been rejected either in a personal relationship, at work, wherever, nobody wants to feel rejected.\u00a0 And that\u2019s something that whenever it is happening to you, you\u2019ll try to convince yourself that it\u2019s anything but rejection.\u00a0 Rejection\u2019s so utterly personal and they have been rejected.\u00a0 They have been politically, policy-wise, rejected, after what they think is the historic presidency of Obama, the hope and change, greatest president ever, and then Hillary to follow, and all of that\u2019s been rejected.\u00a0 And they haven\u2019t come to grips with it.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Lincoln-650.jpg\")

\n“Democratic members of the U.S. Congress called on Monday for the creation of an independent commission to investigate Russia\u2019s attempts to intervene in the 2016 election,” and they want it to be like the 9\/11 Commission.\u00a0 What they really want is Watergate-style hearings.\u00a0 What they really want is to put somebody on trial for what happened.\u00a0 And again, look, I don\u2019t mean to be a broken record.\u00a0 I just have learned that it takes repetition.\u00a0 Even if you\u2019re writing, it takes repetition for something to drill down and be understood, to be remembered.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/576832434-300x201.jpg\")

<\/a>So the tactics that they have used, they never triumph with superior ideas because theirs aren\u2019t.\u00a0 They triumph via bullying.\u00a0 They triumph with — well, phoniness.\u00a0 I mean, look at gay marriage.\u00a0 A majority of people in the states, when referendums came up, opposed it.\u00a0 But the Supreme Court comes along and says it\u2019s constitutional and so it\u2019s the law of the land.\u00a0 But it is not supported by a majority of the American people.\u00a0 In that way, it\u2019s forced on everybody, same thing as Roe v.
