CALLER: Well, this is quite an honor, Rush. Glad I got through.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Glad you did, too.<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: I\u2019ve listened to you on the radio and the Dittocam and the MP3s, the first time I ever listened on a cell phone, and I\u2019m just happy my battery lasted. But here\u2019s what I wanted to tell you about. My father, somehow, shortly after my mother passed away, tuned into your radio program. I\u2019d been a fan for a long time, but I really hadn\u2019t mentioned it to him, and he found you by himself. And he always voted Democrat. But he kept listening to you, and he\u2019d come up with comments like, “Who\u2019s this blowhard guy, Rush Limbaugh –”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and this “talent on loan from God” stuff.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And my dad was always a very religious man, and I said, “Well, dad, isn\u2019t all talent God-given?” And he\u2019d reply, “Well, you\u2019re right, but he\u2019s still a blowhard.” But he never missed a program. My dad lived a conservative lifestyle but just voted Democrat.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And somewhere along the line you struck a chord with him. Well, time passed and my father became legally blind, and I think it was George Bush\u2019s second election, and I picked up his ballot for him and I took it in and I said, “Okay, Dad, how do you want to vote?” And I was gonna put down whatever he told me, and he says, “Vote me straight Republican.” I looked at him, I said, “Well Dad, I applaud your attitude, but you\u2019ve always voted Democrat. You voted for Clinton twice!” He looked up at me and he said, “Well, I was wrong.” And I just wanted you to know how you converted a lifetime Democrat into being a Republican.<\/p>\n

RUSH: From blowhard to straight ticket.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right, to straight ticket. My dad left us in 2007. I\u2019ve been wanting to call you and tell you this story for a long time. And I finally retired in 2016 and I\u2019ve been listening to busy signals for about a year, but I finally got through.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad you did. You\u2019ve made my day here today, David.<\/p>\n
