So in The Boston Globe, the one-word weapon is Vietnam. Or, no, no. The Minneapolis Star Tribune the one word weapon is Vietnam. In The Boston Globe\u2019s Derrick Jackson\u2019s piece, says it has “no message yet” and in the Washington Post<\/a> it\u2019s “Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton.” Here\u2019s where they start. “His proposed tax increases, his answer is Halliburton. Kerry\u2019s vote against Iraq war spending, Halliburton. Kerry\u2019s anti-terrorism credentials, Halliburton. Kerry\u2019s ties to Hollywood liberals, Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton, Halliburton.”<\/line>That\u2019s what it is that inspires people to vote for Kerry. In other words, there\u2019s nothing about him. <\/emphasize>It\u2019s all this trumped-up, ginned-up stuff. This kook fringe stuff that\u2019s become mainstream that angers and therefore inflames the passions of people who want to get rid of Bush. He\u2019s (Kerry) just the vessel for it, and that\u2019s not a recipe for victory, folks, certainly not leadership with a movement.<\/line>TRANSCRIPT BREAK<\/line>RUSH: There\u2019s a great story here in the Stack of Stuff. If I have time to get to it today I promise you I will. It\u2019s about the Democratic convention and what it\u2019s going to look like, and what kind of attitude it\u2019s going to project. You know, what kind of vibes we\u2019re going to get. And this story is a Boston Globe<\/a> story, and it\u2019s all about Monday night or whatever it is that Gore speaks. Don\u2019t expect any love coming out of the Democratic convention. I mean, because there is anger and add to that — hate, if you want — that still lingers, and that\u2019s what motivates the Democrat base right now, and so there\u2019s going to be plenty of that that will be offered on certain nights of the Democrat convention. And this can make you feel like, “Oh, gosh look at these people. They\u2019re really unified and they\u2019re fired up and they\u2019re fighting hard and so forth.” We\u2019re in the midst of winning <\/emphasize>here. Certainly not losing. And you can look at the wrong signs and get the wrong idea.<\/line> <\/line>The real answer to the question, “What\u2019s going to happen to the left if Bush loses?” The answer is: “No. When we win, <\/emphasize>how do we behave?” What does that do for our psyche? What does that do for our self-esteem. What does that do for the way we approach life? If some of you continue to allow the reactions of the left and your critics and so forth to affect the way you approach life, then they\u2019re winning — and you shouldn\u2019t do that. So don\u2019t worry about them. I mean, it\u2019s always going to be a battle. That\u2019s why I\u2019ve always said. Even if we down the road were to enjoy a total, clear wipeout victory, I would not want liberalism totally eliminated. I would want at least two college professors to be liberal on every campus so that we never forget who those people are, and I think that\u2019s big of me. I mean, we need these people around as relics so we never, ever <\/emphasize>forget what we had to deal with. It\u2019s like I\u2019ve always said, “I\u2019m not going to retire till every American agrees with me.” That\u2019s a heck of a goal.
