RUSH: Yeah, I know.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: That\u2019s scary. That\u2019s very scary.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Well, he just had a press conference<\/a> so full of platitudes that I can\u2019t believe it, that he gets away with this. But you talk about Kerry attacking. Again, I\u2019ll repeat what I said earlier — well, just moments ago — and last week after listening to him in his convention, he promised that every attack would be met. He didn\u2019t say, Jeri, he\u2019s going to attack anybody. What did you hear him say that I missed? Because I didn\u2019t hear him say he was going to attack anybody. He said he would respond when we were attacked.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Correct.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: He didn\u2019t say he was going to attack anybody.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Correct. Isn\u2019t that the Bush Doctrine, the right of preemption? He\u2019s just thrown that out the window. So we have to sit here and wait to be attacked, and then he may decide to respond.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Yes. No, he said he would respond with full force, whatever, every attack will be.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: He said a lot of things, Rush. Are they true? Just because he said them, are they true?<\/line> <\/line> RUSH: No. Quite the opposite, probably. In fact he said he would do everything possible. He won\u2019t attack, he will attack. He will have preemption, he won\u2019t have preemption. He\u2019s on every side of every issue because apparently does not have the fortitude to take a solid position on things. You\u2019re really a great term and a great question but it\u2019s really premature about Kerry because, you know, he\u2019s not there yet. He\u2019s not on that particular piece of real estate that would put the country on an aggressive posture. <\/line>All of a sudden he\u2019s trying to sound like that today, but I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s mind-boggling to try to keep up with this. I think this may be a tougher challenge as this unfolds before our very eyes than even keeping up with Clinton was. Yesterday on television (he said) he was going to pull 40,000 troops out of Vietnam — or out of Iraq. <\/emphasize>Sorry, folks. Going to pull 40,000 troops out of Iraq. Today he says we\u2019re not doing enough to protect the homeland. We\u2019re not doing enough — and Bush is lackadaising around and Bush is forcing these terrorists to get even madder at this. I don\u2019t think this is possible for sane people to follow, and it\u2019s not designed for the sane to follow, it\u2019s designed to, you know, stoke his base in the Democratic. At any rate, I\u2019m up against it here on time. A quick time-out. We\u2019ll be back. Thanks, Jeri, for the call. <\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT <\/line> <\/line>RUSH: I tell you what, folks, instead — you know, Kerry is out there saying that Bush is causing new recruitment in terrorism. It\u2019s BS. It\u2019s exact opposite. The terrorists are going to look at guys like Kerry is and say, “Man, if this guy wins, we\u2019ve got a free rein.” It is the weakness and lack of resolve, witness Black Hawk Down, that encourages the terrorism to ramp it up against us. RUSH: Kevin in Garwood, New Jersey, welcome to the program.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Big fan of yours. Yeah, I want to talk about the “recruiting.” How does Kerry know that recruiting is going on? Is there a master list that he gets that all these names are signing up? Because it seems to me they\u2019re fighting in Iraq right now and we\u2019ve been safe because I don\u2019t know when the last time we\u2019ve been attacked here since 9\/11.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Well, he quoted it in his press conference there.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Yeah, but I\u2019d like to see (a follow-up question). Why don\u2019t they follow up and say —<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: No, you can get it. There\u2019s a book out there by an ex-former CIA — maybe he\u2019s a current CIA guy, but his name is Anonymous.<\/emphasize><\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Anonymous, yeah.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Yes.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: I figure, you know, you can get any anonymous CIA guy telling you the opposite.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Well, he\u2019s out there quoted Rumsfeld from two years ago —<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Right.<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: — where Rumsfeld said, “We can\u2019t be sure whether we\u2019re winning.” That was just an honest assessment.<\/line> <\/line>CALLER: Well, Rush, you know, I\u2019m just sick and tired of Kerry making flip-flops. You know, he says, “He should be more like his father, get a coalition.” Meanwhile, he voted against that war, too, when a friend (Kuwait) was invaded. I don\u2019t know when John Kerry thinks it\u2019s good enough to attack because —<\/line> <\/line>RUSH: Not only that he\u2019s on some of the intelligence committee for some of his Senate career. He was part of the oversight. Not only that, John Kerry passed up all kinds of security briefings in the last three weeks because he had “more important things to do.” He was given a briefing the last 48 hours on this threat, and you see what he does with the information, tries to turn it around and use it against Bush.
