RUSH: We\u2019re gonna start in Miami Shores, Florida, with Carl. I\u2019m glad you called, sir. You\u2019re up first. That\u2019s an awesome responsibility. You have to set the tone for the rest of the day.<\/p>\n

CALLER: God bless you, Rush. I thank you for all that you do. My comment is basic and simple. The deep state begins with Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When I read on the Drudge Report that Ryan and the Congress is only gonna work eight days next month<\/a>, when I see that Mitch McConnell is saying that tax cuts are off the table<\/a>, I\u2019m saying to myself, “What the hell is this? Since when does the tail wag the dog?” We put President Trump in office and took the government back from these neophytes who seem to think they know what the hell they\u2019re doing. It\u2019s apparent to me that they need to go home to talk to their constituents about what they haven\u2019t done. Why would they need to go home? How many advertisers would you have, Rush, if you worked eight days out of the month?<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: I wouldn\u2019t lose any because I\u2019m so effective, but I get your point.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s amazing to me, Rush, absolutely amazing to me. I\u2019m a 76-year-old retiree, a conservative all my life. Whenever I ran a company — and I ran companies that had hundreds of people — when we had jobs to be done, we stayed on the job until the job was done.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I hear you. Let me tell you what\u2019s going on here. What you\u2019re watching in a sense is exactly what was intended when the nation was founded.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is separation of powers. Now, I\u2019m not arguing with your point; don\u2019t misunderstand here. But the way this government is supposed to work is to produce gridlock. That\u2019s the objective. The Founding Fathers hated government overreach, they hated government passing law after law after law, and they set up this separation of powers — leave the judiciary out of this for a second — between the legislative and the executive. In normal circumstances, the legislative is supposed to be — I know it gets a little bit complicated when the president and the majority party are the same and that\u2019s what\u2019s bugging you. But even then, members of the legislative branch are supposed to defend their turf, they\u2019re supposed to represent their voters, they are supposed to vie for power.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not supposed to bend over and grab the ankles to the executive. The reason that this appears different is because the Democrats, when they ran Congress under Obama, gave up all legislative power. They turned everything over to Obama because they were unified and they were loyal. And whatever Obama wanted, he got, even if it meant the Democrats in Congress getting rid of some legislative power. Well, here we have, and you shouldn\u2019t be surprised. These Republican establishment types, they didn\u2019t want Trump to win. Do you think they did?<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: Absolutely not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, when are they gonna get some cojones? I don\u2019t know if Trump has the audacity to do it. But I\u2019d put Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan on the carpet and say, “Gentleman, we\u2019re here to do the job. Nobody goes home except for four days for Easter in the month of April. We\u2019re gonna get tax legislation through. We\u2019re gonna get Obamacare through. We\u2019re gonna get this –”<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re absolutely right. It\u2019s up to Trump to do that. It\u2019s up to Trump\u2019s leadership ability. It\u2019s up to Trump\u2019s command of support from so many millions of Americans. That\u2019s what he\u2019s gotta do. It\u2019s up to him to do that. The Republicans on Capitol Hill are not all unified behind their own president, as you and I well know. In fact, you know, you talk about these guys going home and meeting their voters. Do you realize all those Democrats showing up at Republican town halls kept people like you out.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s an obscenity, Rush, it\u2019s an absolute obscenity to the forefathers and founders of this country. It\u2019s a real obscenity to see what\u2019s going on with our government at the disposal of people like Ryan and McConnell. In Texas I said it before. The tail does not wag the dog, and the tail being the RINOs and the Democrats, the establishment in Washington. Damn it; give Trump the chance. Get behind him. That\u2019s why we put him in office. Quit playing these Mickey Mouse games that they\u2019re playing. If they want to see Mickey Mouse —<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: You remind me of a guy — I told this story, a guy sent me an email only a month ago and the guy had a question, “Are they not gonna give Trump anything?” And I said, that\u2019s right, they\u2019re not gonna give him a damn thing. He\u2019s gonna have to earn it, he\u2019s gonna have to work for it, because the truth of the matter is, the Republican establishment is part of the Washington establishment, and they don\u2019t like Trump.<\/p>\n

So he\u2019s gonna have to earn this. And the Washington establishment types that you\u2019ve named, they don\u2019t care how many people voted for Trump. Doesn\u2019t matter. You would think it should, and you would think it does, but obviously it doesn\u2019t. I\u2019m out of time. We will be continuing this, I\u2019m sure.<\/p>\n
