I am only calling regarding your comment on Mr. Clinton\u2019s self-centered problem, the great Rush Limbaugh, talent on loan from God, half your brain tied behind your back, having the audacity to say that President Clinton has a self-centered problem. The most egotistical conceited man on the airwaves today.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Hey Andy.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Yes.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: When was the last time you laughed?<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: I laugh all the time.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Well, you must not have a very finely developed sense of humor.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: (Pathetic Laugh) I actually do, but that &#8212;<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Is that your laugh? <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: No, that was not my laugh. Here it is: (Laughing)<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Sounded like a laugh to me.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Maybe a chuckle.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Oh. All right. Well, you know, there\u2019s only so much I can do here, Andy. If you don\u2019t get it, you don\u2019t get it.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: I do get it.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: No, you think you do.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Every single day you tell me how great you are, and then one or two sound bites from Clinton and you\u2019re going to tell me he\u2019s got a self-centered problem? Every day you tell me how great you are. I listen to you every day, and you tell me&#8211;<\/line><\/p>\n<p><BR\/>RUSH: Okay, then good, give me some examples of this, because I\u2019d like to know, aside from talent on loan from God and half my brain tied behind my back just to make it fair.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: That is how you start every program.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: No it\u2019s not.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Well, just about.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I haven\u2019t even said it yet today. (Laughing)<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Okay, you haven\u2019t said it yet today but&#8211;<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: No, I haven\u2019t said it yet, but give me some other examples.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: But you will say it. My God, you are never wrong. You always talk about how you can predict the future&#8211;<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Yes.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: &#8212; with 100 percent accuracy.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: No. Almost always right, 98.5%. <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Okay, not a hundred percent, 98.5%.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I said almost always right. You\u2019re falling for everything. You are such a typical tightwad out there. You\u2019ve gotta loosen up some of your orifices. You\u2019re taking everything way too seriously. You\u2019re just sitting out there. You don\u2019t see the humor.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: For you to say somebody else is conceited&#8211;<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Andy, one thing about great comedy is that you never should explain it, even to people that don\u2019t get it, but I\u2019m going to take a risk with you since you seem to think that talent on loan from God is bragging. Let me tell you, as I have announced countless times on this program to other people who thought that I was claiming to be God. (Laughing) <emphasize>Talent on loan from God<\/emphasize> is my way of giving thanks to God for what he has blessed me with, among other things, my talent. The fact that it is on loan signifies that I realize I am but a passing speck in the cosmos, that I am here for a brief instant and will be gone. What I have simply is on loan, created by God, and I am grateful for it. And if you would loosen up some of your tight orifices out there and listen to this program as often as you claim to do, you wouldn\u2019t call here and embarrass yourself, as you just have. I\u2019m trying to help. Hello.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Thank you, Rush, thank you. You do have talent from God and I disagree with that one caller. What I\u2019m wondering is, can you give us any advice on how to discern the truth from the fluff, and also, did you get this from your dad?<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Well, yeah. Whatever I have started with my dad. There\u2019s no question. Gee, I don\u2019t know how to answer this. I think, you know truth, they say, is a relative thing, but I\u2019m very confident of what\u2019s right and wrong and that I know the difference between the two, and I don\u2019t always succeed in doing what\u2019s right. None of us do, but I know what it is, and I know what wrong is. What journalists always claim is the number one characteristic or qualification for them, is actually something they don\u2019t have anymore, and it\u2019s curiosity. They have a template and they try to make everything fit their template. I have genuine curiosity about things. I read whatever I read and I immediately think, what else could be true? For example, when I read the New York Times today, I have the same reaction as when I read the National Enquirer, and that is, &#8220;Wow, what if this is true?&#8221; Over the course of my life I\u2019ve just learned that so much of what gets reported is shaded and biased, and I have my own bias, but at the same time I want people to not agree with me just to agree with me. I want them to agree with me because they also agree that what I\u2019m saying is right. <\/line><BR\/>You know, we\u2019re in the arena of ideas here. I don\u2019t want marketing and packaging and smoke and mirrors and buzz and spin to determine my popularity or whether or not what I say is perceived as right. I want it to be as close to the truth as I can get it. I would say I\u2019m a doubting Thomas when it comes to conventional wisdom and I have a relentless curiosity, and I couple these things with my whole life experience and things that have happened. You know, we all know what\u2019s right. Some of us just don\u2019t have the guts to admit it because it\u2019s tough sometimes. But, yeah, I mean, my father was the inspiration and the training ground for this.
