Chris Wallace this morning on Fox News Channel\u2019s America\u2019s Newsroom, Shannon Bream &#8212; a wonderful infobabe, by the way. Shannon Bream was interviewing Wallace about Trump\u2019s Q&amp;A with reporters yesterday, and Shannon Bream said: &#8220;Apparently the folks in the [Regime] didn\u2019t necessarily know he was going to go so in depth with reporters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Now, what\u2019s fascinating about this, folks, the reason I want you to hear this: How many times have you heard since General Kelly was named the chief of staff that Kelly was going to tighten down this ship? Kelly was going to enforce all kinds of discipline? That Kelly was going to try to get a hold of Trump\u2019s Twitter feed &#8212; and Trump was objecting to that, of course. But they were going to batten down the hatches and there weren\u2019t going to be any more leaks, and this was going to be a smooth, well-oiled, tight-running ship.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly was going to get a handle on it, and there wasn\u2019t going to be anybody, including the president, running off the rails. Only disciplined things are going to happen. So Trump couldn\u2019t be shut up yesterday. He did two pressers! He did one; he liked it so much, he came back and did it again. Now, Chris Wallace is noticing this, and Shannon Bream says, &#8220;Trump touched on everything. He doubled down on North Korea yesterday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-244318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-11-at-4.10.12-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-11-at-4.10.12-PM.png 846w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-11-at-4.10.12-PM-300x167.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Screen-Shot-2017-08-11-at-4.10.12-PM-768x427.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>WALLACE: For, what, the last week or so we\u2019ve been hearing a lot of talk about that there\u2019s a new order, a new discipline in the White House, that the president is not going to tweet as much, that he\u2019s not going to have an open-door policy toward letting advisors go in and out. We are told by reporters who were in the room that his press secretary, Sara Huckabee Sanders, was standing in the back of the room as that 20-minute news conference went on &#8212; very early on &#8212; holding up a sign saying, &#8220;One more question,&#8221; that the president could see. And the president ignored it and he kept answering questions on everything from North Korea to Mitch McConnell to the raid of Paul Manafort\u2019s house to Putin kicking hundreds of diplomats out Moscow. So, you don\u2019t tell the president what to do.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s exactly right, just one more question, one more question. And he just kept going and he went back. Now, this business with (laughing) Putin kicking the diplomats out and Trump thanking him for saving us money? They\u2019ve taken that seriously! The media thinks this is further evidence that Trump\u2019s out of his mind. This is further evidence that &#8212; or they\u2019re saying, &#8220;Trump has to be in collusion because this is a perfect chance to criticize Putin and Trump won\u2019t! Trump is thanking Putin.&#8221; So some are saying it is evidence of collusion. (laughing) I\u2019m not kidding.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1HcPAP3u7qY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When Trump said, &#8220;Maybe the Russians can find Hillary\u2019s emails,&#8221; they interpreted that as Trump asking the Russians to hack Hillary\u2019s computer. (laughing) So Trump thanks Putin for expelling American diplomats because it will reduce our budget requirement&#8230; By the way, what are we doing with 755 people in that embassy over there anyway? If we had 755 people in our embassy in Russia, don\u2019t you think one of them would have been able to figure out if we were colluding with Trump and Russia to win the election? Wouldn\u2019t one of them been able to find out?<\/p>\n<p>(laughing) It\u2019s 755 people. So Putin, because of the sanctions that we imposed, Putin kicks them out. Like every good Mafia don would, Putin kicks them out and so Trump thanks Putin for saving him some money (laughing), giving him some room in the budget. And the Drive-Bys are beside themselves with this. &#8220;It\u2019s not presidential and it shows that Trump is indeed linked to Putin somehow.&#8221; He doubled-down on McConnell. While everybody\u2019s telling him to back off of McConnell, he doubled-down. But you\u2019re going to hear in a minute there\u2019s a reason he\u2019s doing this.<\/p>\n<p>And part of it we shared with you. We went back and found that piece from December 6 of last year where McConnell said (summarized), &#8220;The first thing out of the box we\u2019re gonna do when we get sworn in is repealing Obamacare. First thing we\u2019re going to do.&#8221; Trump heard that &#8212; and, of course, they didn\u2019t get it done.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Okay, to the audio sound bites. And we\u2019re going to start here with audio sound bite number 12. This is Peter King, who is a New York Congressman. His district is out on Long Island. He was on Fox yesterday afternoon speaking with the infobabe, Sandra Smith, and she said, &#8220;Who do you blame for lack of accomplishment of Obamacare, Congressman? This has gone back and forth. McConnell is blaming Trump; Trump is blaming McConnell; McConnell is saying Trump doesn\u2019t really know how it works. Who is really to blame for this?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>KING: The president was told early on by the legislative leaders that they could pass it quickly. He relied on that. Looking back on it now as a Monday morning quarterback, I think it would have been better to start with tax cuts and infrastructure. And I would think now they should put out there on the side and go right to tax cuts and infrastructure so we can get some real results on the board and get some money into the pockets of the American people.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-228391\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rush-Photos-SMALL-020.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rush-Photos-SMALL-020.jpg 325w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rush-Photos-SMALL-020-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Rush-Photos-SMALL-020-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/>RUSH: Now, okay, forget that for a second. Did you hear what the meat of this is? Peter King said that Donald Trump was told early on by [GOP] leaders that the Obamacare repeal was a slam dunk. &#8220;The president was told early on by legislative leaders that they could pass it quickly.&#8221; We jump back to December 6 of last year, and there\u2019s a story we shared it with you yesterday, Mitch McConnell telling whoever it was in this story that repealing and replacing Obamacare was the first thing we\u2019re going to do.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing when the new Senate is sworn in. That\u2019s the first thing we\u2019re going to do. And then it didn\u2019t happen. So I asked a question: &#8220;Why didn\u2019t it happen?&#8221; and got all kinds of answers. &#8220;Well, Congress chickened out once the Russia-Trump collusion story got going and once the imbeds in the deep state started taking Donald Trump. The Republicans chickened out. The Republicans said, &#8216;We don\u2019t want to be associated with this guy because they really feared that Trump was going to be taken out before he was inaugurated.'&#8221; There may be something to that.<\/p>\n<p>But Peter King is right: Trump was told by Republicans, House and Senate, that they were going to get this done first thing. What that means is he relied on them. They told him! In Trump\u2019s world, they\u2019re the job foremen, and the job foremen said, &#8220;Yeah, first thing! Easy. We\u2019re going to get this done.&#8221; So, Trump is thinking, &#8220;Cool. We\u2019ll move on to the next thing.&#8221; In his mind, he\u2019s inaugurated believing that repeal and replacing Obamacare is going to get done el quicko because he\u2019s been told this &#8212; and then, of course, it didn\u2019t. And it has led to this paralysis and confusion. So now we go to the Trump presser yesterday. Trump doubled down on Mitch McConnell. He had some things to say about the dictator in North Korea.<\/p>\n<p>The reporter says, &#8220;Mr. President, can you talk about your relationship with Senator McConnell?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: I just want to get repeal and replace done. I\u2019ve been hearing repeal and replace now for seven years. I said, &#8220;Mitch, get to work and let\u2019s get it done.&#8221; They should have had this last one done. They lost by one vote. For a thing like that to happen is a disgrace. And, frankly, it shouldn\u2019t have happened. That I can tell you.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He\u2019s ticked off there. Do you hear that? He\u2019s really mad, and now we understand why. He was told it was going to be the first thing done. Peter King &#8212; who, by the way, is Peter King a Trumpist or not? Is Peter King a never-Trumper or a pro-Trumper? Is he pro Trump? I can\u2019t recall. But he said, &#8220;The president was told early on by legislative leaders that they could pass it quickly. He relied on that.&#8221; They\u2019re the job foremen. They\u2019re going to get the building built. Next question: &#8220;Would Senator McConnell consider stepping down as majority leader? There\u2019s some conservative analysts, including Sean Hannity, that say it\u2019s time for McConnell to retire.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Well, I\u2019ll tell you what. If he doesn\u2019t get repeal and replace done, and if he doesn\u2019t get taxes done &#8212; meaning cuts and reform &#8212; and if he doesn\u2019t get a very easy one to get done, infrastructure? If he doesn\u2019t get them done, then you can ask me that question.<\/p>\n<p>UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: So what is that, a yes or a no?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: &#8220;You can ask me the question.&#8221; That means ask me that question.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: (shouting)<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Let\u2019s hope he gets it done.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nBhL53VXkhI\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He just did. You imagine the reporter, what do you mean ask me the question? I just did. (laughing) I love this. I do. Oh, there\u2019s the governor of Guam there, Republican governor, saying he loves the way Trump\u2019s talking. (imitating Trump) &#8220;I\u2019ll tell you what, if he doesn\u2019t get repeal and replace done, if he doesn\u2019t get taxes done, meaning cuts in reform, if he doesn\u2019t get an easy one, infrastructure, if he doesn\u2019t get them done, then you can ask me that question.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What is that, a yes or a no?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can ask me the question. It just means ask me the question.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Reporter says: &#8220;Let\u2019s hope he gets it done.&#8221; (laughing) Next one, &#8220;Mr. President the North Koreans said yesterday that your statement on Tuesday was nonsense. That\u2019s the word that they used. Do you have any response to your being called nonsense by the North Koreans?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: Frankly, the people that were questioning that statement, &#8220;was it too tough?&#8221; Maybe it wasn\u2019t tough enough. They\u2019ve been doing this to our country for a long time, for many years, and it\u2019s about time that somebody stuck up for the people of this country and for the people of other countries. So if anything, maybe that statement wasn\u2019t tough enough. And we\u2019re backed by 100 percent by our military, we\u2019re backed by everybody. And we\u2019re backed by many other leaders. And I noticed that many senators and others today came out very much in favor of what I said. But if anything, that statement may not be tough enough.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: He\u2019s talking about the statement &#8220;fire and fury.&#8221; Now, this was the presser that was occurring right as our program ended yesterday. This is where Chris Wallace says that Sarah Huckabee Sanders was holding up a card in the back of the room, &#8220;Last question,&#8221; because she wanted it to end. Trump had been going on for about 20 minutes. He came back. He wasn\u2019t through.<\/p>\n<p>He so enjoys dealing with the media, the fake news. He thinks they\u2019re so overmatched that he loves it. So he came back. And this is the Trump National Golf Club. He broke away for a national security briefing and came back to engage the fake news reporters. And another question, &#8220;Mr. President, are you going to increase the US military presence in Asia?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-244355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Trump-Presser2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Trump-Presser2.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Trump-Presser2-300x219.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>THE PRESIDENT: I read about, &#8220;We\u2019re in Guam by August 15th.&#8221; Let\u2019s see what he does with Guam. If he does something in Guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody\u2019s seen before, what will happen in North Korea.<\/p>\n<p>UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER #1: And when you say that, what do you mean?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: You\u2019ll see. You\u2019ll see. And he\u2019ll see. He will see.<\/p>\n<p>UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER #2: Is that a dare?<\/p>\n<p>THE PRESIDENT: It\u2019s not a dare. It\u2019s a statement. It has nothing to do with dare. That\u2019s a statement. He\u2019s not going to go around threatening Guam. And he\u2019s not going to threaten the United States. And he\u2019s not going to threaten Japan. And he\u2019s not going to threaten South Korea. No, that\u2019s not a dare, as you say. That is a statement of fact<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Folks, in analyzing this, I want to compare this to the way scripts for TV shows are written. You probably haven\u2019t noticed these things, but you will now when I point them out to you. And it\u2019s almost universal. I have seen this so much that I have concluded that it\u2019s part of the way screenwriting is taught. And it\u2019s almost templatic.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a character, the setting doesn\u2019t matter, the story, a character will ask, &#8220;When is X going to happen?&#8221; The answer is always soon. It\u2019s never specified in screenwriting. It\u2019s never in 20 minutes, tomorrow, next week. It\u2019s always soon. Notice this. No matter if you\u2019re watching a movie, no matter if you\u2019re watching a TV show.<\/p>\n<p>Another almost automatic inclusion in screenwriting is this example. Somebody will be explaining something to another character and there will be a pause, and the other character will say, &#8220;Go on, go on.&#8221; And the other character goes on and finishes the thought. It\u2019s constant. It is in television. Once I mention this to you you will now notice it. And I\u2019m talking about primarily scripted TV shows in prime time. I\u2019m not talking about the news, but scripted, screen-written TV shows. &#8220;When is this going to happen?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What\u2019s going to happen?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019ll see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-244359\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TrumpPresser1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TrumpPresser1.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/TrumpPresser1-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>I first noticed this when I was watching a movie that depicts the Lehman Brothers collapse after the \u201908 crisis. And one of the managers in the office, he\u2019s talking to his two underlings, and they\u2019re scared to death about what\u2019s going to happen to the firm. And there\u2019s a mass firing scene in which two babes come in from the home office and they conduct exit interviews with people. These two underlings ask their boss, &#8220;Oh, my God, is this going to happen to us?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019ll see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When is it going to happen?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How bad is it going to be?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You\u2019ll see. You\u2019ll see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, in this sound bite: &#8220;When you say that it\u2019s going to be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before in North Korea, what do you mean?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trump: &#8220;You\u2019ll see, you\u2019ll see. And he\u2019ll see.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m telling you, folks, I don\u2019t know whether Trump is incorporating screenwriting techniques that he picked up when he was in TV or not. I\u2019m not saying that. But it is a technique. There is a reason these things are written in TV shows. Remember, they\u2019re written to keep you watching and they provide as few answers as possible. So a specific answer to, &#8220;When is that hell going to happen?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Soon.&#8221; It\u2019s never specified in a TV show. Maybe you\u2019ll find an exception. But I\u2019m telling you the rule is &#8220;soon.&#8221; Same thing with &#8220;go on&#8221; or &#8220;and&#8221; or &#8220;continue.&#8221; You\u2019ll see this in Perry Masons from the \u201950s to Law and Order SVU in 2015. &#8220;Go on. Soon. You\u2019ll see.&#8221; They\u2019re techniques. I\u2019ve picked it up. Nobody told me this. I\u2019ve just spotted it. That\u2019s why my ears kind of went up when Trump said, &#8220;You\u2019ll see. You\u2019ll see. It\u2019s a statement.
