RUSH: Let\u2019s get to Obama. We have some Obama sound bites as well. This is at a breakfast before his big speech. Have you noticed that nobody seems to care that Democrats go fund-raising and make political speeches from the pulpit? Nobody ever seems to care or raise a stink about this. Here?s Obama. Get this one.<\/line>OBAMA: This is the site of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. I am the offspring of the movement. So when people ask me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019, I tell \u2019em I\u2019m coming home.<\/line>RUSH: Oh, Obama gets into it. I never heard him sound that way befo\u2019. <\/emphasize>He said, ?When people asked me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019 …? Play this again. I have a hearing problem. I wanted to make sure I got this right. Ready to go? Let me hear it again. <\/line>OBAMA: This is the site of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. I am the offspring of the movement. So when people ask me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019, I tell \u2019em I\u2019m coming home.<\/line>RUSH: He said befo\u2019. <\/emphasize>I\u2019ve never heard Barack Obama say “before” that way. So both he and Mrs. Clinton are trying to get into the spirit of things — and how about the fact that even though… Let\u2019s see. It says here, ?People ask me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019.? He probably has not been to Selma befo\u2019, yet he was conceived there. Now, an aide to Obama later clarified that he did not mean it literally. He was speaking symbolically here that he wouldn\u2019t be who he is. He wouldn\u2019t have the chance to run for office were it not for the fruits of the labors of the people who had been to Selma befo\u2019, befo\u2019 he got there, and so says he\u2019s never been to Selma befo\u2019. He is still coming home, Barack Obama, the Democrat. This is just typical, folks, despite the fact it\u2019s hilarious. It is typical. <\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line>RUSH: I want to go back to this sound bite number eight with Obama. We played it befo\u2019, but I want to play it again. I just wonder how long Obama had to rehearse this to make this sound genuine. You have to wonder, by the way, how is Joe Biden feeling today? Joe Biden was out there saying finally we\u2019ve got a clean, bright and articulate African-American. I wonder if O\u2019Biden will take back the articulate? The point here is that Obama does not speak this way. <\/line>OBAMA: This is the site of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. I am the offspring of the movement. So when people ask me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019, I tell \u2019em I\u2019m coming home.<\/line>RUSH: It is embarrassing. It is embarrassing to watch these guys. It?s embarrassing to think that it works. It?s embarrassing that they would think that they\u2019ve gotta do this. This is classic pandering. This is like treating children like children rather than treating them responsibly, like treating adults like children. Obama\u2019s big problem is that he\u2019s got people out there saying that he\u2019s not one of these people because he\u2019s not black enough. Remember, it\u2019s other people saying this. It\u2019s the Los Angeles Times with op-ed pieces and others questioning the blackness of Obama. He\u2019s clearly trying to sound blacker with his pronunciation of the word before. Biden was right. Here\u2019s a guy clearly very articulate, but when he goes down there to Selma, it?s befo\u2019. <\/emphasize>I just wonder how often he had to rehearse it. Here\u2019s Obama now — and this was at the Brown Chapel AME Church, the African Methodist Episcopalian Church (I think it\u2019s Episcopalian) — speaking to the congregation and assuring them he\u2019s black enough.<\/line><\/p>\n

OBAMA: My grandfather was a cook to the British in Kenya. He grew up in a small village, and all his life that\u2019s all he was was a cook and a house boy, and that\u2019s what they called him. Even when he was 60 years old, they called him a house boy — wouldn\u2019t call him by his last name. Sound familiar? (Cheers and applause.) So don\u2019t tell me I don\u2019t have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don\u2019t tell me I\u2019m not coming home when I come to Selma, Alabama. I\u2019m here because somebody marched for our freedom. I\u2019m here because y\u2019all sacrificed for me. I stand on the shoulders of giants.<\/line>RUSH: All right, now, just a straight, side-by-side comparison with Mrs. Bill Clinton. He\u2019s not screeching. He\u2019s not shouting. (Well, he\u2019s shouting; his voice is a little bit raised.) But he\u2019s giving them what they want plain and simple, you\u2019d have to say, a little bit more authentically than Mrs. Bill Clinton. Now, these next three bites are quite interesting in that the Drive-By Media misses something that I think is crucial. Yesterday in Selma, Obama said that the civil rights movement used to be neat and clean. (Laughing.) He did. Used to be neat and clean and articulate. They wore ties and so forth. Just listen to this.<\/line>OBAMA: One of the signature aspects of the civil rights movement was the degree of discipline and fortitude that was instilled in all the people who participated. Imagine young people, 16, 17, 20, 21, backs straight, eyes clear, suit and tie, sitting down at a lunch counter knowing somebody\u2019s going to spill milk on you but you have the discipline to understand that you are not going to retaliate. I can\u2019t say for certain that we have instilled that same sense of moral clarity and purpose in this generation. Bishop, sometimes I feel like we\u2019ve lost it a little bit.<\/line>RUSH: Ooooh! Obama takes a swipe at the current civil rights leadership. By the way, the new president had been there 19 months at the NAALCP. He has resigned, and it\u2019s basically because the Julian Bond faction just won?t let go of the place. But look, we don\u2019t walk with our backs straight anymore, eyes are not clear. We\u2019re not wearing suits and ties. We\u2019ve lost a sense of moral clarity and purpose in this generation. That was not highlighted by the Drive-By Media, but does it sound somewhat similar to this stated at the Rainbow (Monochrome) Coalition in Chicago on July 1st of 2004?<\/line><\/p>\n

COSBY: We have to turn the mirror around because, for me, it is almost analgesic to talk about what the white man is doing against us, and it keeps a person frozen in their seat. I\u2019m talking about profanity. I\u2019m talking about people cursing at each other like it\u2019s something hip, like it\u2019s something that\u2019s right, when it\u2019s not. I\u2019m talking about people calling each other a name who are cursing at your children at home. Those children hear those words. We want to ask the parents, “Stop yanking that child.” We\u2019re going to call each other names of ugliness, comedians coming on TV, “I\u2019m so ugly. You\u2019re ugly,” yuck, yuck. That\u2019s all minstrel show stuff. I\u2019m tired of this.<\/line>RUSH: That was Bill Cosby, July 1st, Chicago, 2004. Obama is getting close to saying similar things to Bill Cosby. This is totally glossed over by the Drive-By Media. We\u2019ve got a lot of side by sides here, but let\u2019s just do this one. This is Obama here, and this comment is directed to the problems of black education and who is partly responsible.<\/line>OBAMA: Even as I fight on behalf of more education funding, more equity, I have to also say that if parents don\u2019t turn off television set when the child comes home from school — (applause) — and make sure that they sit down and do their homework and go talk to the teachers and find out how they\u2019re doing, and if we don\u2019t start instilling a sense in our young children that there is nothing to be ashamed about in educational achievement… I don\u2019t know who taught them that reading and writing and conjugating your verbs was “acting white.” We\u2019ve got to get over that mentality.<\/line>RUSH: Ooooohhhhh! This is quite different. There aren\u2019t any black leaders saying this, other than Bill Cosby. When Obama says, ?I don\u2019t know who taught black kids that reading and writing and conjugating your verbs was acting white, we gotta get over that mentality,? he\u2019s making an argument here for being articulate, like he was befo\u2019 <\/emphasize>he went to Selma. CALLER: Hello, Rush.<\/line>RUSH: Hey.<\/line>CALLER: Retired Navy dittos.<\/line>RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/line>CALLER: Hey, I got two things. Why does the black community put up with such obvious pandering? And two, what the devil does the march in Selma have to do with global warming?<\/line>RUSH: (Laughing.) First: everything <\/emphasize>has to do with global warming. (By the way, we have a big Global Warming Stack<\/a> today. There are defectors now and some big TV shows coming in the Great Britain area in the BBC that totally debunk it. We?ll get into that in just a second.) As to why do blacks put up with it, I don\u2019t know that they are. Mrs. Bill Clinton had to take her husband with her to have her A-game. He\u2019s the first black president. I don\u2019t know that they are. She didn\u2019t draw nearly as large a crowd as Obama did.<\/line>CALLER: Yeah, but he\u2019s having to go back and say, “You know, my grandpa was a house boy,” like you\u2019re not black enough. I don\u2019t know. It seems to be just like a three-card monte deal.<\/line>RUSH: Well, look, one of the problems with politics today and political leaders, candidates and so forth, is they\u2019re afraid to say what they really think and say what they really mean. They pay consultants to go out and come up with focus group lines, and when you\u2019re speaking to a group like this — you know, Obama is a fraud. Obama has the guts to go out and suggest, ?You know what? Education is our problem. We can spend all the money in the world on it, but until we start teaching our kids that achievement is not ‘white\u2019 and is good for them, we\u2019re going to have a problem.? That\u2019s true. But then on the other hand, the rest of his remarks are aimed at cementing this heritage that none of them lived through: Slavery. Some of them did march in Selma. Some of them did suffer discrimination, no question about it, but the 1990s and 2007 here are not what it was in the sixties and not what they were in the seventies. <\/line>Things have moved on, but some in the civil rights leadership don\u2019t want the charges of the black community to think so, and so a candidate who needs that vote is going to go pander to it. It\u2019s just like candidates pandering to Hispanics on illegal immigration rather than doing the right thing. It\u2019s all about getting elected, all about having power — and it\u2019s a frustrating thing. That\u2019s why if somebody ever came along who really would just tell us what he thinks about something and hell be damned, he\u2019d probably end up being supported by more people than he or she could probably dream of, even though there would be hell to pay from the Drive-By Media. <\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><\/p>\n

It\u2019s unbelievable.<\/line>RUSH: He was in Ohio, and he wanted to go duck huntin\u2019 and he wanted to put the camouflage outfit on. He wanted to go duck huntin\u2019 to prove to the NRA gang that he wasn\u2019t anti-gun. He walks in and says, ?Can I get me a huntin? license?? Or ?Is this where I can get me a hunting license??<\/line>CALLER: Yeah.<\/line>RUSH: It\u2019s right. It\u2019s total pandering. Let\u2019s go back. I want to put these two in juxtaposition. This is Senator Biden<\/a> January 31st in an interview with the Observer Democrat saying the following about Senator Barack Obama.<\/line>BIDEN: You got the first sort of mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy.<\/line>RUSH: Right, he\u2019s articulate. He\u2019s bright. He?s clean and a nice looking guy, and then Obama blows it yesterday in Selma with this…<\/line>OBAMA: This is the sight of my conception. I am the fruits of your labor. So when people ask me whether I\u2019ve been to Selma befo\u2019, I tell \u2019em I\u2019m coming home.<\/line>RUSH: So he\u2019s been to Selma befo”. <\/emphasize>Even though he hasn\u2019t been to Selma, he\u2019s not been to Selma befo\u2019. <\/emphasize>This is… I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s embarrassing. Get used to it, folks. This is what politics is today. Actually, it has been for the longest time on the Democrat side. One more Obama from yesterday in Selma. This is right out of the Bill Cosby speech manual.<\/line>OBAMA: We\u2019ve got too many children in poverty in this country. And everybody should be ashamed. But don\u2019t tell me it doesn\u2019t have a little to do with the fact that we got too many daddies not acting like daddies. Don?t think that fatherhood ends at conception.<\/line>RUSH: Don\u2019t think that fatherhood ends at conception. When Cosby said it, the whole civil rights community blew up and had a gasket. Remember? And he said this a number of times. In fact, let\u2019s get audio sound bite 15. This is Cosby talking about the responsibilities of fathers. This was on BET, May of 2004.<\/line>COSBY: For God\u2019s sake, turn around and let\u2019s have some meetings and say, ?Brother, let me explain to you. You are the fathe of so forth and so forth. Brother, you gotta reel \u2019em in, man. You gotta go talk to them.? What do I do, man? They won\u2019t listen to me. <\/emphasize> “Well, hey, brother, that\u2019s your son.”<\/line>RUSH: Cosby, the poor guy, has caught hell for this kind of talk. We don\u2019t know yet whether Obama will. How often do you think Obama uses the word “daddies” in everyday speech? How many times befo\u2019 he went to Selma when talking to people about fatherhood did he use the word daddies <\/emphasize>to people? Hey, folks, don\u2019t fault us for this. CALLER: Hello, Mr. President. I loved you last night on that 1\/2 Hour News Hour<\/a>.<\/line>RUSH: Thank you. I appreciate that.<\/line>CALLER: Yeah, I was the guy that called you a while back. I was the one who followed the lady from Maryland that talked to you about the taking the essence from horses artificially. I happened to be the one to follow her.<\/line>RUSH: Oh, that was your unfortunate day.<\/line>CALLER: Hey, that was a great day, Rush. You know, I want to get to my point quickly. You pointed out a little bit about the hypocrisy here. How long do you think it would take for the mainstream news media and the liberals to jump all over a conservative who went into church and talked about political issues, but yet we\u2019re not going to hear anything about Mrs. Clinton in church talking about political issues?<\/line>RUSH: No, I mentioned this mere moments ago. Nobody ever talks about this.<\/line>CALLER: Yeah. But what if a conservative went in and did about the same thing? How many microseconds do you think before the mainstream media would be screaming, “We should have separation of church and state! These guys can\u2019t do it!”<\/line>RUSH: What do you mean, what if?<\/emphasize> What about the never-ending efforts to demonize Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell?<\/line>CALLER: True. But let\u2019s say a conservative politician went in and did that. How long do you think they\u2019d be screaming about the politician going in and using the pulpit to make a political speech?<\/line>RUSH: It wouldn\u2019t take long at all.<\/line>CALLER: Yes.<\/line>RUSH: But, you see, you have to understand her. In the world of liberalism, blacks are a minority, and as such they are powerless, and as such there are no rules. When you\u2019re powerless, and you\u2019re fighting the tyranny of a giant majority, you are allowed to do anything. You can\u2019t even be racist. I am not making this up. It has been said by many experts — “experts” — that it\u2019s impossible for a black person to be a racist because they don\u2019t have the power to enforce their racism. They don\u2019t have to power to implement their racism. So they can say and do whatever they want. You can\u2019t say they?re racists in any way, shape, manner or form, because they have no power. It\u2019s all permitted. It is why there are very, very, very few IRS investigations, justice department investigations of the tax-exempt status of some of these organizations when they go political, because it\u2019s a no-win situation. They\u2019ll just be attacked as racists and bigots and so forth. Political correctness rears its head, stifles the truth, and stifles speech.<\/line><\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line>RUSH: Obama screwed up. He said fatherhood doesn\u2019t end at conception. That\u2019s a very pro-life statement. A friend of mine caught it in an e-mail, and I want to run it by you. This is Barack Obama in Selma yesterday.<\/line>OBAMA: We have too many children in poverty in this country, and everybody should be ashamed, but don\u2019t tell me it doesn\u2019t have a little to do with the fact that we got too many daddies not acting like daddies. Obama just said that life begins at conception, and you can\u2019t say in the pro-choice community. There\u2019s a lot of stuff that you can\u2019t believe and can\u2019t say in the pro-choice community. I also want to go back to a sound bite that we played for you of Mrs. Bill Clinton from Selma in the first hour<\/a> — and somehow, ladies and gentlemen, I just don\u2019t think this is what Dr. King had in mind when he said he had a dream.<\/line>MRS. BILL CLINTON: Let us say with one voice the words of James Cleveland\u2019s great freedom him: ?I don\u2019t feel no ways tired, I come too far from where I started from. Nobody told me that the road would be easy. I don\u2019t believe he brought me this far to leave me, and we know if we finish this march what awaits us. St. Paul told us in a letter to the Galatians, ‘Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart.\u2019? The brave men and women of Bloody Sunday did not lose heart.<\/line>RUSH: I just can\u2019t handle this.<\/line>MRS. BILL CLINTON: We can do no less. We have a march to finish.<\/line>RUSH: This is just utterly shameless. It\u2019s not helpful. It doesn\u2019t advance these people at all, nor does it help them — but that\u2019s the thing. The libs don\u2019t want \u2019em to advance. The libs want them to stay in their current mind-set.
