Puerto Rico has been on the back burner even though the president has been there. The Drive-By Media who have been reporting on this are nevertheless reporting that Trump\u2019s botched it, that Donald Trump doesn\u2019t care, because most of the people down there are not white.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-249544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Trump-Puerto-Rico.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Trump-Puerto-Rico.jpg 594w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Trump-Puerto-Rico-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>There are actually people in the Drive-By Media saying this, many of them at CNN. &#8220;Yeah, Trump doesn\u2019t care. They\u2019re not white. They probably wouldn\u2019t vote for him. He doesn\u2019t care.&#8221; Despite the fact he\u2019s been down there. Despite the fact he\u2019s been helping to pass out aid and putting together relief packages and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>So the Treasury secretary today, Mick Mulvaney &#8212; I\u2019m sorry. He\u2019s the Office of Management and Budget. He\u2019s the OMB guy. And he\u2019s a Rush Baby, by the way. <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/the-limbaugh-letter\/\">We have interviewed him for The Limbaugh Letter<\/a>. I met him when I was at the White House back in March. Sharp, sharp guy. OMB, Trump\u2019s Office of Management and Budget guy.<\/p>\n<p>He was on with Fredo Cuomo today on CNN. Mick Mulvaney has been talking about and Trump\u2019s been talking about all the fake news about Trump as not caring and all the other BS the media has been reporting out of Puerto Rico. And Fredo said, &#8220;What\u2019s fake about our reporting, about the depth of despair and the need for relief? What\u2019s fake about that?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: All y\u2019all show is the bad stuff. We spent several hours on the island yesterday afternoon. Got a chance, for example, to get briefed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The folks working on the electrical grid. And, by the way, some of the efforts down there are absolutely fantastic. We met with mayors of large and small towns. There\u2019s a lot of good things happening. I think the president\u2019s frustration, our frustration as an administration is the media seems to only want to focus on the bad things and not show both sides of the story. I think that\u2019s a fair frustration to have.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/players.brightcove.net\/5107476400001\/B1xUkhW8i_default\/index.html?videoId=5597662527001\" width=\"600\" height=\"325\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, Fredo, really these kinds of complaints do not register with Fredo. It\u2019s hard to describe the single-mindedness of most in the media, and it\u2019s hard to describe the lack of curiosity they have for anything other than what they think or what they believe. But I\u2019m telling you, they don\u2019t have any curiosity. There isn\u2019t validity to anything they don\u2019t already believe or think they know. And so when Mulvaney comes along, &#8220;You guys are only telling half the story. You guys are engaging in fake news here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fredo thinks the only story in Puerto Rico is the despair. Fredo thinks the only story is the human depravity, the human despair, the human poverty. The only story is the destruction. The only story is how nothing is getting fixed. The only story is that nobody seems to care. That\u2019s it, as far as they\u2019re concerned. There isn\u2019t anything else in their minds. If there were, they\u2019d be reporting it.<\/p>\n<p>And so somebody comes along, &#8220;You guys aren\u2019t telling the whole story.&#8221; Fredo is genuinely shocked. He doesn\u2019t think there is anything else. Fredo, you\u2019ll not find him in the leadership of this where they define the leftist agenda. He\u2019s a foot soldier, a loyal foot soldier who wants to impress management and the leaders. So whatever he picks up on that they care about, that\u2019s all there is. There isn\u2019t another side, there isn\u2019t an alternative, and they\u2019re not making anything up. So I want you to understand that as you listen to their conversation continue.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: What two sides to the story? The need is real.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Wait a minute. Stop the tape. See what I mean? Recue that. What two sides of the story? I love this. Did I not just say &#8212; I knew what was coming next but I had not read the transcript, folks. This is an example of how I know these people better than they know themselves.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-239203\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/650-031017-Stop-The-Tape.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/650-031017-Stop-The-Tape.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/650-031017-Stop-The-Tape-300x143.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/>He doesn\u2019t think there\u2019s another side to the story. The side they\u2019re reporting is it and only it, and anybody who thinks otherwise is biased. Anybody who thinks there\u2019s another side to this is prejudiced or a conservative or whatever. He genuinely doesn\u2019t think and doesn\u2019t know there\u2019s another side to this. Just like there wasn\u2019t in Katrina. Just like there isn\u2019t another side to the story of Trump colluding in Russia. It happened. They just can\u2019t find the evidence yet, but it happened, as far as Fredo\u2019s concerned.<\/p>\n<p>So he says here, &#8220;What two sides of the story? The need is real. The distress is real.&#8221; That\u2019s the only thing that matters in Puerto Rico, people are hurting, people are suffering, they\u2019re in distress, and Trump doesn\u2019t care, and Trump doesn\u2019t do anything about it. As far as he\u2019s concerned, that\u2019s it. There is nothing else. The jet, the airline, it\u2019s still missing. There isn\u2019t any other side to that. So here it is again, now that you know, here\u2019s the whole exchange.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: What two sides to the story? The need is real. The distress is real.<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: Right.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: We are showing the efforts. Because of the rhetoric out of this White House, we\u2019ve spent a lot of our time talking to first responders who are saying, &#8220;Why do you say we\u2019re not working? Why do you say that we\u2019re not down here to help?&#8221; Nobody has reported that, Mick, and it\u2019s dangerous to do that. Not only is it a distraction&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: It\u2019s not dangerous&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: &#8230;it\u2019s self-serving politically&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: &#8230;let me answer your question.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: It makes people not believe the need&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: Yeah.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-249408\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/FB-083117-Fredo-Cuomo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/FB-083117-Fredo-Cuomo.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/FB-083117-Fredo-Cuomo-300x158.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>CUOMO: &#8230;Mick. But I want to make sure the context is right. The need is real. That\u2019s not just the bad stuff; it\u2019s the reality, Mick.<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: Y\u2019all have put up a stat that says only 7% of the island has electricity. That\u2019s absolutely accurate. But what you don\u2019t report is how it\u2019s being done, why it\u2019s being prioritized. The focus is on getting power to hospitals, to water filtrations and pump houses, nursing homes, old age retirement homes first. That story simply doesn\u2019t get reported at all. And I think that\u2019s at the root of the frustration.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: That\u2019s an excellent point. See, to Fredo, only 7% of the island has power. That\u2019s horrible, that\u2019s bad, that\u2019s rotten, oh, my God, there\u2019s despair, there\u2019s people suffering, and you can\u2019t tell us not to report it because that\u2019s real, that\u2019s all that\u2019s real. The only thing that matters to the news is suffering. That\u2019s all we do. We find suffering everywhere that we can blame on Republicans. We find despair everywhere that we can blame on Republicans and Trump and that\u2019s real and we report it and that\u2019s real and you can\u2019t deny it.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s maniacal about this. And Mulvaney says you\u2019re not telling how that 7% happened. You\u2019re looking at 7% as a negative and we\u2019re looking at it as recovery and a positive and here\u2019s why we\u2019re doing it, where we\u2019re doing it first. I guarantee you Fredo was clueless hearing this, because nobody prior to Mulvaney had even explained this to him. And I dare say, had they tried, he would have thought they were trying to manipulate him and get him to not cover the despair.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s what they really think. When there\u2019s despair and when there\u2019s suffering and you can blame that on the Republicans, don\u2019t try to disguise it, don\u2019t try to confuse us, don\u2019t try to manipulate us into not reporting it, \u2019cause the despair is real, and it\u2019s Trump\u2019s fault and it\u2019s the Republicans\u2019 fault. It always is. And so we\u2019re gonna focus on it. And you can\u2019t trick us and you can\u2019t fool us.<\/p>\n<p>Mulvaney says we\u2019re not denying the despair, Fredo. There are people here working around the clock to bring it all back and you\u2019re making it sound like nothing\u2019s happening. And I guarantee you that doesn\u2019t compute with Fredo. &#8216;Cause he\u2019s stuck on the despair and the misery and the suffering and it\u2019s Trump\u2019s fault. And that\u2019s what they\u2019ve gotta keep drilling home. He says so. Fredo doesn\u2019t like it here when Mulvaney enrages him by telling Fredo that he\u2019s sure that CNN will do a better job going forward.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: When there are people coming up to you on the streets begging for help, you don\u2019t say, &#8220;Well, you know, things aren\u2019t as bad as you think, my friend. Could have been Katrina. Imagine how bad they had it.&#8221; That\u2019s not what you do in a situation like this. You report the reality. And it\u2019s not being done to you, Mick, to the president, to embarrass you. It\u2019s just being able to reinforce the need. Whatever\u2019s being done, it\u2019s not enough, Mick.<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: Well, the good news is that you\u2019re clearly gonna do a better job going forward, and we appreciate that.<\/p>\n<p>CUOMO: We couldn\u2019t do any better job than we\u2019ve done so far. CNN has been down there like an army of ants from the beginning trying to show the need.<\/p>\n<p>MULVANEY: They are starting from practically nothing. You do not bring electricity back to an island of three and a half million people in two weeks when you\u2019re starting from practically nothing.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: So they\u2019re obsessed. They\u2019re obsessed with &#8220;It\u2019s bad, the suffering is horrible, the need is not being met, it\u2019s bad,&#8221; and he does mean it\u2019s your fault, Mick, and it is your fault, Trump. They would never report this kind of suffering and need when Obama was in the White House, folks.
