RUSH: All right, more on this US attorney firing and the attempt here by the Democrats to equate this with Watergate. As is the usual case, there are lots of facts that the Democrats and the media are not telling us. I want to go back (and I\u2019m not going to play the sound bite because it\u2019s not important) to the question that Wolf Blitzer asked Pat Leahy last night on the Situation Room on CNN. His question was: “Is there anything illegal in putting one of Karl Rove\u2019s associates in and making him the US attorney in Arkansas?” Leahy said, “There\u2019s nothing illegal about it, firing the US attorney. What I\u2019m saying is that that hurts law enforcement, hurts fighting against crime,” which is an absolute joke. Well, let me tell you about this ‘Karl Rove associate.\u2019 By the way, why should that be a disqualifier for anybody? It\u2019s only because of the image that the media, the Drive-Bys and the Democrats have crafted about Karl Rove. Karl Rove\u2019s guy is Tim Griffin. He is a veteran, a military veteran. He has a solid prosecutorial record.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what the Drive-Bys will not tell you about Tim Griffin, apart from the fact that he worked at the White House. That\u2019s, of course, a disqualifier as far as the Drive-Bys and the Democrats are concerned. “Tim Griffin is in his tenth year as an officer in the US Army Reserve. He\u2019s in the JAG Corps, the judge advocate general\u2019s corps. He holds the rank of major. In September 2005, Tim was mobilized to active duty to serve as an Army prosecutor at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the home of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). At Fort Campbell, he prosecuted 40 criminal cases. One of those cases, drew national interest after a soldier attempted to murder his platoon sergeant and fired upon his unit\u2019s early morning formation. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his crime.” 
\nThat\u2019s a prosecution conducted by ‘Rove\u2019s guy,\u2019 Tim Griffin.<\/p>\n

“In May 2006, Griffin was assigned to the 501st Special Troops Battalion (STB), 101st Airborne Division and sent to serve in Iraq. From May through August 2006, Griffin served as an Army JAG with the 101st Airborne Division in Mosul, Iraq, as a member of the 172d Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) Brigade Operational Law Team (BOLT).” And before that, “he served at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) where he was Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General (AAG), Michael Chertoff, the Criminal Division chief. In the summer of 2001, AAG Chertoff granted Tim a year detail as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas in Little Rock. While in Little Rock, Tim prosecuted a variety of federal cases with an emphasis on firearm and drug cases. He also served as the coordinator for Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the Bush Administration\u2019s strategy to reduce firearm-related violence by promoting close cooperation between state and federal law enforcement.”<\/p>\n

That is who the Democrats say is a hack. He\u2019s a veteran. He has served in Iraq. He has prosecuted cases. He has years and years of experience. He\u2019s in the JAG Corps, as is Lindsey Graham. This is Karl Rove\u2019s guy. This is one of the ‘hacks,\u2019 the new US attorney for Little Rock, that the Democrats are so exorcised about here. Interesting little side-bar. This is from the Arkansas Times: “The US attorney, Bud Cummins of Little Rock, says that he\u2019ll likely be leaving his job in the next few weeks or months but almost certainly by the end of the year. He had early told us he didn\u2019t intend to serve out the entirety of the Bush administration\u2019s second term and that he\u2019d be looking for private sector work.” This can be found at ArkansasTruthBlogspot.com, and this is another story about Tim Griffin. Tim Griffin is replacing Bud Cummins, who himself predicted back in August he wouldn\u2019t finish out the term of the administration because he was going to leave, and he\u2019s on this list of ‘fired\u2019 prosecutors that the Drive-Bys and everybody are so exorcised about; so up in arms about. So “It\u2019s a scandal! It\u2019s getting in the way of fighting crime!”<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know anything about Bud Cummins, but I can tell you there\u2019s nothing wrong with Tim Griffin. Now, I love being able to tell you people this, but where\u2019s the justice department telling people this instead of acting like, “Oh, please! Yeah, mistakes were made!” What mistakes? Where\u2019s the administration understanding that they are at war with people who want to wipe \u2019em out? I\u2019m at a loss, folks. I genuinely am at a loss. Be it Iraq, be it this, Scooter Libby, I\u2019m at a loss to understand. Now, maybe they do understand it, or are just choosing to fight it with a different strategy by not fighting it. I don\u2019t know. I have no clue. Either way, it doesn\u2019t seem sensible to me, especially after all of these years of having these attacks mounted.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
