Cam Newton Apologizes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: Cam Newton has apologized for the disrespectful comment to the infobabe at the Charlotte Observer. Her name is Rodrigue, Jourdan Rodrigue. And it just illustrates that every knee will be bent to political correctness. You will bend the knee, and you will like it. You will bend the knee, and you will love it. Last night Carolina Panther\u2019s quarterback Cam Newton\u2019s Twitter page posted a video apologizing for his comments to Charlotte Observer infobabe Jourdan Rodrigue. Here is a portion of the video. We actually have two portions. Here\u2019s the first.<\/p>\n<p>NEWTON: What I did was extremely unacceptable. I\u2019m a father to two beautiful daughters, and at their age I try to instill in them that they can do and be anything that they want to be. And the fact that during this whole process I\u2019ve already lost sponsors and countless fans, I realize that the joke is really on me.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: And if that it wasn\u2019t enough, he then apologized to women all around the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-249951\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/650-100617-Cam.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/650-100617-Cam.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/650-100617-Cam-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/>NEWTON: To the young people who see this, I hope that you learn something from this as well. Don\u2019t be like me. Be better than me. And to the reporters, to the journalists, to the moms, super moms, to the daughters, the sisters, and the women all around the world, I sincerely apologize and hope that you can find the kindness in your heart to forgive me.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Can I ask you a question? It\u2019s an open-ended question. I\u2019m not trying to be provocative. It\u2019s not rhetorical. How many women, when they heard of this story, became righteously indignant, do you think? (interruption) You think it\u2019s that small, zero point something percent?<\/p>\n<p>To set the table again, there was a press conference earlier this week, Cam Newton weekly meets with the press, and a female reporter, Jourdan Rodrigue, asked him if he was encouraged and thrilled to see a particular receiver running his pass routes so aggressively and really sticking it to \u2019em out there. And Cam got a big smile on his face and laughed and said, &#8220;It\u2019s funny, it\u2019s funny listening to a female asking about routes.&#8221; Kablooey!<\/p>\n<p>It was as though Cam Newton had written the Indiana Religious Freedom Act. The Drive-By sports media blew up, everywhere, no exceptions, ESPN, NBC, ABC, CBS, wherever you found sports Drive-Bys, they blew up. Cam Newton a reprobate, Cam Newton doesn\u2019t have the first idea about gender equality. They kept talking about gender equality and how important gender equality is in America today. And Cam Newton was disrespecting it and laughing at it, and this was unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I\u2019m just asking, how many women, about seeing the tape, before they had heard any of the Drive-By Media reaction to it &#8212; I\u2019m really curious. I really would like to know. I\u2019m not asking this with a foregone conclusion in my mind. I really would like to know how many women were as outraged and angry as the sports Drive-Bys were, because the sports Drive-Bys, as is always the case, were attempting &#8212; not attempting &#8212; they were assuming that their anger was universal, that their reaction to it was the reaction of the vast majority of people in America.<\/p>\n<p>And I wonder, again, \u2019cause see, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s true. When the sports Drive-Bys or the news Drive-Bys, when they get exercised about something, they have this little trick of presenting it in such a way that, if you\u2019re watching it, you think everybody\u2019s angry. And if you\u2019re not as angry as they are and as angry as they\u2019re making you think you should be, then you start asking, &#8220;What\u2019s the big deal here?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NZsgi-QpnH8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And you\u2019re almost compelled to act as angry as you think they are because it seems like everybody else is. I know my wife, Kathryn, was not angry about it. She looks at these things, they\u2019re one offs, they don\u2019t mean anything, particularly about the status of things in the country, and she doesn\u2019t attach politics to every one of these events. And I don\u2019t either. But they do, which is the point.<\/p>\n<p>Dawn, did you have an instinctive angry reaction to this? Did you say, &#8220;Oh, that\u2019s gonna be trouble&#8221;? Okay. Dawn thinks that he was, in a modified way, flirting, that he had a smile on his face, and, you know, it\u2019s sexy to hear you talking about routes, but he can\u2019t say that in a room full of reporters in a business situation, so he said it\u2019s funny to hear you talking about routes.<\/p>\n<p>But the automatic, required, built-in reaction was livid anger. And I\u2019m sorry, folks, my instincts tell me that that\u2019s not the reaction that a majority of people, not just women, majority of people I don\u2019t believe reacted to it the way the Drive-Bys to it, or anybody else that\u2019s devoted to political correctness. And I\u2019ll explain that in a minute. But I want to stay with the bites here.<\/p>\n<p>Up next I mentioned at halftime of the game last night, which I didn\u2019t watch, but by looking at the final score, it looks like the Patriots had trouble with the Buccaneers last night. Should have blown \u2019em out. And the way I looked at it, the Buccaneers were in it until the last play, had a chance to win it in the last &#8212; is that right? Did you watch it? Is that right? Did they have a chance to win it even in the last play?<br \/>\n(interruption) Oh, yeah, well, the field goal kicking &#8212; your team is &#8212; there\u2019s some karma thing going on with not being able to find a kicker.<\/p>\n<p>So at halftime it was Deion Sanders and Bill Cowher, Bill Cowher, the former coach of the Steelers, Sanders, former great player, cornerback for many teams, Cowboys and 49ers. And here is Bill Cowher reacting to Cam Newton\u2019s &#8212; this was more than an apology. This was a grovel. Cam Newton was just opening himself up and said just kill me, just do whatever you want with me. I\u2019ll take it. Just hit me. But Bill Cowher was not buying it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-250000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-06-at-4.37.23-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-06-at-4.37.23-PM.png 850w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-06-at-4.37.23-PM-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Screen-Shot-2017-10-06-at-4.37.23-PM-768x383.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>COWHER: His response was appropriate. But, you know what? Your actions speak a lot louder than your words that validated that as a father. I hope that you\u2019re sending that message right now to them. But, you know what? You need to validate that with your actions in the upcoming time and subsequent to that, and that will be the only validation you have for those words.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Somebody want to translate that for me? I\u2019m just gonna read it to you. Bill Cowher: The response was appropriate. But, you know what? Your actions speak a lot louder than your words that validated that as a father. I hope that you\u2019re sending that message right now to them. But, you know what? You need to validate that with your actions in the upcoming time and subsequent to that, and that will be the only validation you have for those words.<\/p>\n<p>You want my help on this? I can tell you exactly what he\u2019s saying. &#8220;Cam, prove it. Your words don\u2019t mean jack to us. You better go out there and &#8211;&#8221; by validate he means, &#8220;You gotta prove it, you gotta prove it and you had better, you had better tell your daughters that you screwed up, and you\u2019d better tell \u2019em how you screwed up and you better treat \u2019em better than how you treated that reporter. I don\u2019t trust you. I don\u2019t believe you, Cam. I don\u2019t believe a word you say until I see it.&#8221; That\u2019s pretty much what he\u2019s saying, right?<\/p>\n<p>Oh, Snerdley thinks that Cowher was kissing up to the female crowd. Maybe so. But we shouldn\u2019t be so judgmental as people that now we gotta go dissect his apology and try to figure out was it sincere. No, no, let\u2019s take it for what it was. He apologized. Let\u2019s move on.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Now, we don\u2019t have it, but Cowher came back and repeated what he said, and he seemed angry when he was saying it. So you think it was a kiss-up to the females in the audience? Okay. Now, we have one more. This is Cam Newton from 2012. Let me see. The Drive-Bys dug this one up. They went back five years to dig up another terrible sexist comment from Cam Newton. This is used to make people question his apology being sincere.<\/p>\n<p>NEWTON: I\u2019m gonna leave this room and I\u2019m gonna bring in a suggestion box, and I want your suggestions to be in that suggestion box \u2019cause I sure don\u2019t know, but the only thing I control, Sweetheart, is myself.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Oh, he called a reporter sweetheart! Uh-oh. No. You know, I got suspended for that in Kansas City. Coanchor, I was the afternoon host and a coanchor was doing the news, and I introduced her one day as &#8220;dear.&#8221; And I got called in. They were looking for reasons to dock me, though, \u2019cause I was a great employee and they had no reason to &#8212; this was the place I got fired for using the word &#8220;therefore&#8221; too much.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s my thinking. They kept harping on gender equality. You know, I have a problem with this whole concept of equality, because to me equality is impossible except under the law where it\u2019s intended. Before the law, we\u2019re all supposed to be equal. None of us are special, none of us are unique, none of us have connections or ins. This is the premise. Under the law, we are all equal. The law is the great equalizer, and that\u2019s what it used to mean.<\/p>\n<p>But now gender equality? We\u2019re not equal! No two people are equal. And the left wants to force that on everybody, and there\u2019s only one way you can make everybody equal and that\u2019s by chipping people down. When they use the word &#8220;equality,&#8221; &#8220;gender equality,&#8221; they\u2019re talking about sameness. And that\u2019s not possible. No two people are equal in any way. Everybody\u2019s different, everybody\u2019s unique, starting with how they look.<\/p>\n<p>But this effort to force sameness, to mandate equality on everybody and then to politicize that, when you don\u2019t recognize it, when you don\u2019t abide by this idea that we\u2019re all the same, we\u2019re all identical, it\u2019s not possible for that to ever be true, unless you live in a totalitarian regime where that\u2019s forced on you and there are penalties. It\u2019s absurd. But it that\u2019s where the left is.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: You know, you leftists, you liberals, I wonder, are you aware how fragile you are making women seem to be when you speak up for them and defend them? So here\u2019s this reporter. She\u2019s in a locker room. It\u2019s a locker room. It\u2019s a man\u2019s locker room. It\u2019s a man\u2019s game. She\u2019s in there with other reporters. And Cam Newton says something, and she\u2019s so fragile we gotta react here and say poor girl, poor woman, you can\u2019t treat her that way.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5W4QQGJgj2s\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Look, I have five years\u2019 experience in a locker room. Folks, it\u2019s a totally different world. You can\u2019t imagine &#8212; maybe some of you can &#8212; but you can\u2019t imagine the things that go on in there. I\u2019m talking about the things they say to each other, for crying out loud. Jokingly, some of it serious. It\u2019s almost a rite of passage in a locker room that you have to put up with a certain amount of being made fun of. It\u2019s a test to see whether you can take it.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s just always been that way. It\u2019s not Romper Room in there. Particularly after a game and particularly if it\u2019s a hard-fought loss. I\u2019m not making any excuses. I\u2019m wondering if you liberals, after 30 years of feminism and gender equality and all this, are you aware of how fragile you are making women seem? Not the women, but all of you getting outraged, all you liberal guys getting outraged over this and other incidents like this are really making it seem like there\u2019s a bunch of cream puffs in there that you gotta really tiptoe around, and I don\u2019t think that\u2019s accurate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: It just illustrates that every knee will be bent to political correctness.
