RUSH: Rudy Giuliani put the Democrats on defense. He called them on the carpet yesterday, as all Republican candidates should, by the way. McCain went out there and starts attacking Rudy and the president, saying it\u2019s not the right thing to do. Go attack the Democrats, McCain! The Democrats are who McCain is going to run against if he gets the nomination. That\u2019s what voters want to hear, and Rudy did it. He called them on the carpet. They immediately went on defense. That\u2019s good, because these Democrats need to be held politically accountable for their actions and statements. Let\u2019s review what Rudy said. This was on Tuesday in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was for the Lincoln Day dinner there. We have four sound bites. This is the first.<\/p>\n

GIULIANI: This war ends when they stop planning to come here and kill us, but until then, if I have anything to say about it, the lesson that I learned coming out of September 11, 2001, is, never, ever again will this country be on defense waiting for them to attack us. The United States of America will be on offense (applause) and make no mistake about it, the Democrats want to put us back on defense.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And he put them <\/emphasize>on defense. They are beside themselves. All last night they were freaking. You know, it\u2019s strange. The Democrats, liberals, and Drive-Bys go out and they can say anything they want about anybody. They can ruin their lives, try to ruin their careers. You turn around and you tell the truth about their weakness when it comes to national defense, and they act like some rule has been broken, some rule of civility or some such thing. It just illustrates the arrogance and the conceit of these people. They\u2019re above <\/emphasize>criticism. As far as liberals are concerned, there\u2019s no debate! Nobody has a right to comment on them. Here\u2019s the second Rudy bite.<\/p>\n

GIULIANI: The Democrats — and I can make a lot of other points about this — do not understand the full nature and scope of the terrorist war against us. But I listened a little bit to the Democratic debates, and I could be slightly wrong about this but I think this is almost correct. If one of them gets elected it sounds to me like we\u2019re going on defense, where we got a timetable for withdrawal out of Iraq. We\u2019re going to wave the white flag there. We\u2019re going to try to cut back on the Patriot Act. We\u2019re going to cut back on the electronic surveillance. We\u2019re going to cut back on interrogation. We\u2019re going to cut back, cut back, cut back, and we\u2019ll be back in our pre-September 11 mentality of being on defense.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that really bugged \u2019em. ‘Oh! He said we want to go back to a 9\/10 world,\u2019 and they do. You know, folks, one thing here that is so patently obvious: Any of the Republican candidates for president, any of them, so far superior to any of the Democrat candidates that it\u2019s not even worth discussing. To treat these Democrat candidates as serious, Hillary Clinton, give me a break, Barack Obama? They\u2019re not even being looked at as serious candidates. They\u2019re just interesting cult figure personalities to the Drive-By Media. But in terms of qualifications and recommendations for them to actually be president, where do you get that? I can\u2019t wait for these confrontations. I can\u2019t wait for when this all shakes out. This campaign actually turns into Republicans telling Democrats and the country who the Democrats are and so forth, instead of all this mishmash here that\u2019s acting like something important is happening tonight in this stupid-ass debate that\u2019s not even a debate; Democrats out there just engaging in a little press conference run by friendly moderators from the Drive-By Media on a cable network that nobody watches. And everybody is going, ah, ah, ah, ah, it\u2019s like an orgasm getting ready to go off. ‘First debate! First debate!\u2019 It means nothing. Here\u2019s the third Rudy bite.<\/p>\n

GIULIANI: The question is going to be, ‘How long does it take and how many losses do we have along the way?\u2019 And I truly believe if we go back on defense for a period of time, we can ultimately have more losses and it\u2019s going to go on much longer. The power of our ideas is so great we\u2019ll eventually prevail. The real question is how do we get there? Do we get there in a way in which it\u2019s as expeditious as possible and with as little loss of life as possible, or do we get there in some circuitous fashion? <\/p>\n

RUSH: As you listen to this, does this strike you as overly partisan? The Democrats are out there, ‘This is a new low, Rudy Giuliani\u2019s sunk to a new low. Why, this kind of partisanship and politicization of 9\/11 is uncalled for, it\u2019s unprecedented.\u2019 There\u2019s not even that much partisanship here. He\u2019s just defining the Democrats, who they are. You\u2019re not allowed to do that, see. Partisanship means that Democrats are the only voices. Bipartisanship is when Republicans give up their own voice and adopt the Democrat voice. Last Rudy bite, the pi&egrave;ce de r&eacute;sistance.<\/p>\n

GIULIANI: They hate us, not because of anything bad we\u2019ve done. This has nothing to do with any aggression on the part of the United States of America. It has nothing to do with anything America is taking from anyone. It has nothing to do with Israel and Palestine. They hate us for the freedoms that we have and the freedoms that we want to share with the world because the freedoms that we have and the freedoms that we want to share with the world are in conflict with their perverted interpretation of their religion. Their maniacal, violent, and perverted interpretation of their religion, in which they train their young people to be suicide bombers, and they train them to hate you and despise you and they train them to hate your religion and to not allow you to have religion of your own or anyone else. They hate us for the reasons that are the best about us, because we have freedom of religion, because we have freedom for women, because women are allowed to participate in society, because we have elections, because we have a free economy. Well, we\u2019re not giving that up, and you\u2019re not going to come and take it from us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And Rudy is concerned that we\u2019re not going to give it up, but, you know, why put ourselves through more BS if we have a leadership elected in this country that\u2019s going to go totally on defense and start wringing its hands and wondering what we\u2019re doing to cause this to happen to us? What are our responsibilities? Why do they hate us so? Doesn\u2019t matter. So he took it to them, put \u2019em on defense, they\u2019re squealing like stuck pigs. Hillary Clinton, Mrs. Bill Clinton, says we\u2019re not doing enough to protect our ports and our chemical factories. Okay, Mrs. Clinton, let\u2019s see a proposal. You know, you guys are in the majority now. You can do whatever you want. You just passed a war bill in both the House and the Senate that guarantees defeat were the president to sign it. You can do what you want. Republicans can\u2019t stop you. So let\u2019s see a proposal. What are you going to do to make the ports more secure? What are you going to do to protect our chemical factories? What do you want to do? You want to inspect every ship stem to stern, every container opened? Well, propose it. You run the Congress. Will you propose putting metal detectors in every school and shopping center, go ahead. <\/p>\n

Propose whatever else it is that you say will protect us, because it will underscore that the Democrats have no plan for defeating terrorists. They\u2019re not even going to propose anything, folks, because they\u2019re frightened to propose. All they can do is rip and criticize. But if they did propose all this stuff they\u2019re actually talking about, our ports are not safe, this isn\u2019t safe, Bush has ruined this, Bush has made you more at risk, we\u2019re all dangerously at risk, blah, blah — they\u2019re not going to propose anything because if they did you would see that not one of their proposals leads to the defeat of terrorists or an enemy that we have. Their proposals would restrict movement and freedom of the American people while they\u2019re out there caterwauling about the Patriot Act and so forth. If they put these proposals forward, it would underscore they have no plan for victory. <\/p>\n

They just want to build these false barriers around our activities. And what does it tell us? It tells us that the Democrats know that we\u2019re going to get hit again. If they\u2019re worried about all this port security and they\u2019re worried about chemical plants, they know we\u2019re going to get hit again. At least they think. And what does that tell us? They don\u2019t want to stop it ahead of time. Not one proposal from any Democrat talks about victory over these people, not one proposal talks about anything other than defeat. Not one proposal contains one shred of offense. I\u2019m telling you, folks, the people of this country are going to find this out as this campaign unfolds, before our very eyes and ears. They can\u2019t talk about victory. They own defeat. They are too tied to it. It must happen for them to win.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: A couple more things to say here. The Democrats do not put forth a proposal for victory. They don\u2019t tell us how they\u2019re going to defeat. They say, ‘Well, they\u2019re going to protect us,\u2019 that means they know we\u2019re going to get hit again and they think that they can limit the damage. That is not offensive and that is not aggressive. They talk about fearmongering when it comes to terrorism, but they say not enough is being done to harden various sites. We got all of these people, the Democrats out there, mad at Rudy Giuliani, warning about future attacks, and yet everything the Democrats are saying and do indicates that they damn well know there\u2019s going to be another attack. Listen to their proposals. And, by the way, they can propose anything. They\u2019re not the minority anymore in Congress, and yet in most instances they act like they are, other than this war funding business, because they know they need us to lose. They cannot withstand politically a victory by the US military. <\/p>\n

And, look, Rudy is exactly right. They want to give the enemy more rights. They want to litigate the war. They want this war to be fought in courtroom after courtroom after courtroom after courtroom after courtroom, civilian courtrooms. They want to take the military off the battlefield, as they\u2019ve just voted to do in both the House and the Senate yesterday and today. They want to prepare for the next attack by doing the equivalent of tucking our heads between our legs, hiding under the desks and hope and pray that nothing happens. But if it does, we\u2019ll be ready to clean up the carnage and hopefully it will be as little as possible because we Democrats have taken steps to limit the carnage. Now, I\u2019ve said before, I have said this repeatedly, the Democrats, the Drive-By Media are invested in defeat. They own it, and they must defend defeat. And they are. You listen to them. Don\u2019t think your fellow citizens aren\u2019t hearing them. They are defending the concept of defeat, not just promoting it, they are defending it. That\u2019s why in the end, folks, I\u2019m telling you, they are destroying themselves. <\/p>\n

Whatever evolutions have taken place generationally in this country, we have not reached the point where the US population en masse despises the US military, mocks its members, has no respect for its family members. We have not reached that point. The Democrats reached that point long ago. They have always despised the military, except when they run it. I\u2019m talking about the post-World War II era. In fact, folks, search your memory banks. Find for me since 2001, find for me one example where any Democrat, elected Democrat has said something good about this country, period, not just the military, not this, ‘I support the troops business.\u2019 Don\u2019t give me that garbage. That\u2019s nothing more than a little cop-out phrase. Tell me where they\u2019ve supported the people. Tell me where they said good things about the potential of average Americans in this country. You find for me an example where they\u2019ve said robust, great things about the economy. You tell me where they have talked of a rosy and great future for the people of this country. You will not find it, because their mode of campaigning is to try to get you so depressed and down in the dumps that you need Paxil, that you need lithium, that you need Ritalin, not just your kids, that you need all this. <\/p>\n

They want you so depressed, they want you thinking your country has left you behind. They want you thinking your country has no future. That\u2019s the way they campaign. Utter tumult, utter chaos. They\u2019re invested in defeat and they own it and they are destroying themselves. Has the media ever told you how many of the enemy we\u2019re killing? No. Why? Are they mourning the deaths of the enemy? Why do they not tell us? We get a daily body count of US soldiers and military personnel in Iraq. Why don\u2019t they report their casualties as they do ours? How many of the enemy were killed today? How about yesterday? How about in the last six months? You know why they don\u2019t do it? It\u2019s real simple. It would demonstrate our effectiveness. If we got a body count of the enemy&hellip; and of course the military can\u2019t put it out. If they did, the media wouldn\u2019t believe it, the Drive-Bys, ‘That\u2019s propaganda.\u2019 You can believe a terrorist military source; you can believe a terrorist PR person; you can\u2019t believe the US military if you are the Drive-By Media. <\/p>\n

So you just tell me, when\u2019s the last time they said anything about America that\u2019s positive, and you won\u2019t find it. ‘Mr. Limbaugh, are you saying that we don\u2019t love our country, that we don\u2019t see positive things?\u2019 I\u2019m telling you that I don\u2019t hear you say \u2019em, and I have a feeling that most of you libs, if you did start talking about the greatness of the country you would be embarrassed because you think that\u2019s somehow cheerleading and you think that it\u2019s not honest. Part and parcel of the liberal vision is to look out across the landscape and you gotta see misery otherwise there\u2019s no reason for you to exist as a liberal. You have to see misery, you have to make it up, you have to see it. Then you have to blame other people for it. You have to blame Republicans, you have to blame 13,000 Dow, you have to blame something. Housing bubble that\u2019s coming up, mortgages that are about to go — whatever it is they try to scare you with every day, you will not find them talking about anything positive about their country. <\/p>\n

‘Are you challenging my patriotism, Mr. Limbaugh?\u2019 No, no, no. But what if I did? So what? You\u2019d just redefine patriotism anyway to say that criticizing America is what patriotism is. It doesn\u2019t matter what people say about you. Whatever perverse notion of reality you\u2019ve got, that\u2019s what reality is, to you. Nothing else exists. Then you set about trying to silence and fire everybody who says things you don\u2019t like. I\u2019m talking to the libs, and they know it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, mega dittos. I had a question regarding — that I would like to ask the Democrats. They don\u2019t think if we withdraw or troops that the terrorists aren\u2019t going to come here and fight us, and that\u2019s wrong because they\u2019ve already come here, and my question would be to them, is after our troops come home and we begin to fight the terrorists here because they will come, how soon will it take for the Democrats to decide to wave the white flag here on our own soil?<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s what Rudy Giuliani was saying earlier in his remarks. Rudy was saying because of our value system as Americans, we would not surrender to terrorists in this country. We would fight them to the death. His point is, why invite them? Why even go through that? Why go on defense at all? Why set up circumstances that guarantee that we\u2019re going to get hit again and that are going to come to our shores, why not go on offense and take the battle to them elsewhere and keep them away from here? And that\u2019s his whole point. He looks at the Democrats, and he doesn\u2019t see anything but defense. I made the point, I mean if you look at their proposals you don\u2019t find one thing oriented toward victory over these people, certainly not with their votes yesterday and today in the House and the Senate.
