CALLER: Yes siree. We\u2019re still out here and we\u2019re listening. I have a question —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — of you about the liberals out there who are trying to get you fired like they got Imus.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The stupidity seems incredible to me simply because Imus was an employee.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And he didn\u2019t own his show. Not only do you own your show —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Shh, shh, shh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — you own the syndicator.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Shh, shh, shh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So the question is, are you going to fire yourself?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. We want them to try. No, I\u2019m not going to fire myself. Only way I\u2019m going to fire myself is if I learned every American agreed with me, there would be no sense to continue. Mission accomplished, big banner on an aircraft carrier.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Laughing.) Well, I just wanted to see if that angle was correct because I just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I don\u2019t own the syndicate —<\/p>\n

CALLER: — converted everybody, that you couldn\u2019t possibly fire yourself.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t own the syndicator. They are a partner.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, correct. Sorry. Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So I don\u2019t own the syndicator. I could, if I decided to, at some point, do it all, but I got a great working relationship with my syndication partners. You know, it\u2019s just the way I\u2019ve chosen to structure. But yeah, I basically have to agree that they\u2019re right, I should be fired, and do it myself.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We won\u2019t wait for that day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, don\u2019t wait for it, it\u2019s not going to happen. Look, if I fired myself, I\u2019d hire myself back five minutes later. I could do that. I\u2019ll fire myself. Limbaugh fired, back on air five minutes later, would be the story.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, that would be a good one. That would yank so many chains that you would completely hijack the news networks.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In fact, when I rehired myself, it would be for a greater percentage.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Laughing.) Okay, Rush, hang in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Will do. I could do a Rosie, ‘You know folks, I have failed to come to terms with myself, so I\u2019m quitting, I\u2019m going to fire myself,\u2019 and then five minutes later come to terms with myself and — (laughing) — refuse to accept my own resignation.
