RUSH: I\u2019ve got an idea for President Bush. The Democrats are out there saying that they\u2019re doing the will of the people, ‘the will of the people\u2019 in their Iraq pullout legislation. Yet it required $24 billion of pork in order to buy enough votes for the Democrats to pass it. What if Bush turned around and say, ‘Hey, I\u2019ll tell you what. Dingy Harry and Nancy Pelosi, I will offer you this. I will sign $50 billion in pork if you\u2019ll vote for victory.\u2019 Up the ante. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s David in central Ohio. I appreciate your patience. Welcome, sir, to the EIB Network.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, Rush. I have a simple question. If President Bush had signed this spending bill, how long would it have taken for the goods such as armor or whatever taken to get to the troops before they had to leave six months from now?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uhhhh. Oh, I see what you\u2019re saying. There was a shell game anyway. Because —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — the legislation says they gotta start coming out sooner than they would get the aid, if you will, offered by the increased funds?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, that\u2019s basically my question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Answer it yourself. Do a little research here. I mean, we\u2019re talking Democrats. That should give you some clue. (Laughing.) This is a purely political bill! They knew it was going to be vetoed. They wanted it to be vetoed. They want to be able to say now that it\u2019s Bush\u2019s war. Pure and simple. I think putting the pork in it, in order to get the votes, was also added insurance that the president would strike it.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Left-handed, Arts and Croissants Crowd dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you. What a sweet voice you have.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you. I wanted to tell you how brilliant you are, and the reason you\u2019re brilliant is because you\u2019re talking about how the Democrats have claimed defeat and how they always go back to their playbook — and what they\u2019ve done by claiming defeat and voting for a pullout and supporting a pullout and saying it\u2019s the ‘will of the people,\u2019 is we\u2019re revisiting the \u201992 presidential election when Clinton said the people wanted a tax cut and he would deliver it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Middle class tax cut.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Middle class, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And George Bush kept saying —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It wasn\u2019t for you people in Grosse Pointe, I guarantee you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Laughing.) George Bush, Sr., said, ‘I\u2019ve looked at the numbers, and it can\u2019t happen,\u2019 and other reasonable people, thoughtful people, truthful people, said this can\u2019t happen — and Clinton kept saying, ‘It will happen,\u2019 and he was elected largely because of that, I believe. I love it when you do your imitation, ‘I worked as hard as I could for two weeks —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: ‘– and I can\u2019t give anything.\u2019 Well, they cannot pull out, and everyone knows it. Anyone who\u2019s reasonable knows we cannot pull out, and this was just for them to claim — they\u2019re claiming —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait. Pull out of what? I mean —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Pull out of Iraq.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I was going to say, ‘They pull out of a lot of places —<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Giggling.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: — but they won\u2019t pull out of Iraq.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: (Giggling.) Yes. No, you\u2019re right. The Democrats cannot pull out. If they think they can, they are far more demented than you\u2019ve ever even alleged! So this is just a leverage that Hillary and the other presidential candidates are using to get the base to —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — support them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m telling you, they\u2019re boxing themselves into this corner that is going to be really difficult for them to escape without causing riots in their own party.
