RUSH: Okay, ladies and gentlemen. ‘An Al-Qaeda front group that claims it has captured American soldiers warned the United States today to stop searching for them and suggested that it attacked the US convoy as revenge for the rape and murder of a local teenager.\u2019 Well, that will play well in the Drive-By Media. ‘The US military also said for the first time it believes the three missing soldiers were abducted by Al-Qaeda linked militants after an attack that included three roadside bombs.\u2019 My question is, ‘How in the world could this possibly happen?\u2019 After all, we have done in this country to demonstrate how guilty we are and how badly we feel about what went on at Abu Ghraib and what went on at Club Gitmo? I mean, prayer rugs, Korans, prayers five times a day, special meals. We were told by the Ted Kennedys and the Dianne Feinsteins of the world that if we just treat these people nicer, then they will treat our prisoners nicely. Now they\u2019ve captured three of our soldiers, and are threatening us. They\u2019re warning us that we had better stop searching for them because if we search for them, then all hell will really break loose.<\/p>\n

Now, the argument was that if we didn\u2019t ban torture (which wasn\u2019t torture), the Al-Qaeda types would torture our troops. So we had to go even further, and we gave enemy combatants — terrorists — Geneva Convention protections, remember that? We gave them Geneva Convention protections when they don\u2019t qualify for it! So now I am stunned that these abductions could possibly have happened. I\u2019m sure these three soldiers, if they are in fact being held by Al-Qaeda types, are getting the kind of treatment that\u2019s every bit as wonderful as those at Club Gitmo. New Bibles, three square meals a day, toilets that face the right direction, interviews with the Red Cross, access to the Rosie O\u2019Donnell Show. Whatever it is they want, I\u2019m sure that they\u2019re getting it, because the Democrats and the left told us that we had to change our evil ways in the way we were dealing with our prisoners — enemy combatants, guests — because if we didn\u2019t, then there would be hell to pay. So I\u2019m sure when this little misunderstanding is finished, I\u2019m sure when the guys are back home, we\u2019ll hear about how wonderfully they were treated. We will hear that it was wonderful, precisely because of how we have changed our evil ways that they were treated well in the first place. We\u2019ll keep a sharp eye on that story, ladies and gentlemen. The minute we have any details to report, I\u2019ll pass them on.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Nice to talk to you, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The pleasure is mine.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, I think you answered my statement here, though, when you apologized for the first hour, because when you opened it up about our troops being captured —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — you neglected to bring up the point, according to our friends on the left, Al-Qaeda could not have done that because Al-Qaeda is not in Iraq.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Boy, you got me. You are absolutely right. I thought I had a brilliant point to make — and it was; it was a brilliant point that I made — but you might have trumped me on this, Phil. Because he\u2019s right. We have three soldiers and Al-Qaeda in Iraq claims to have captured them, and they\u2019re ‘warning\u2019 us! They\u2019re warning the United States of America there will be hell to pay if we keep searching for them. They\u2019re warning us to suspend the search. The point that I made at the beginning of the program was, ‘Wait a second! How could this possibly happen? Why, we\u2019ve cleaned up our act at Abu Ghraib. We\u2019ve punished all the people that were guilty there. We\u2019re going to punish even more. We\u2019re giving all kinds of benefits to our prisoners now. We\u2019re not torturing them. We\u2019ve given them Geneva Convention protection and so forth, and Democrats and the liberals told us that we had to do that so that when we have soldiers captured that they, too, will be treated humanely by Al-Qaeda.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019ve learned a little bit from listening to you because I\u2019ve been listening to you since the first Friday of the first week you were in Sacramento.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I haven\u2019t graduated, I know, but I still listen to.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there are no graduates. Don\u2019t take that personally. You\u2019re a good reason why. If you would have stopped learning, you wouldn\u2019t have come up with this thought that you just came up with.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Correct.<\/p>\n
