CALLER: How you doing Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Never better, John. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right. Dittos from north Florida and the surf\u2019s up. I\u2019m a long time listener, first time caller.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, it\u2019s great to have you with us.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I got a disturbing development that you might be able to track down.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Great. We love disturbing developments.<\/p>\n

CALLER: This has to do with the Drive-By Media. I think they might have a new strategy to get into the mainstream. <\/p>\n

RUSH: They think that they are the mainstream. But what\u2019s the disturbing development?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, this has to do with the New York Times. I had heard, I think twice now, advertisements on the radio that if you go buy your Sunday Times and, you know, this is targeted to the crowd of guys that I guess I\u2019m from, like to hunt and fish and NASCAR, that you can get some free pictures of your favorite NASCAR drivers.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019ve got to be kidding.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I swear.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Where did you see this? The New York Times is offering free pictures of NASCAR drivers so people will go out and buy the Sunday edition?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s what the advertisement says.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Where? Where are you seeing this advertised? TV?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Television?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, on the radio.<\/p>\n

RUSH: On the radio.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You might want to do some investigating.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t have to investigate this. I know exactly what this is all<\/line>about. This is indeed not a disturbing development, but hilarious. <\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: I think a little desperation.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The problem is the New York Times does not believe that NASCAR people can read. That\u2019s what is hilarious about this. They look at NASCAR &ndash; I guarantee you, there\u2019s somebody from New York Times listening to you right now, John, they don\u2019t think that you have your two front teeth, have got a four-week stubble sitting there in a plaid shirt with your gun over your shoulder and a bottle of Old Crow next to you. And you can\u2019t wait until Sunday for the next Indy 500, NASCAR race. That is what they think of you. They don\u2019t think that you can read. Even if you can read, they don\u2019t think you have the intelligence to understand it. Now the New York Times is — (laughter) John, I don\u2019t think that. Don\u2019t misunderstand. I\u2019m telling you what the elites at the New York Times think of NASCAR people.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I agree. I swear I\u2019ve heard it twice. And I just think maybe they are getting a little desperate.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I tell you what, this is a testament to the fact that they are now admitting their circulation is in the tank. They are admitting, by doing this, that they have lost touch with ‘real middle America.\u2019 Even though you\u2019re in Jacksonville, you are real America. Normally they think people like you are hayseed hicks, probably bombed an abortion clinic yesterday, as far as they think, and are planning to bomb one on Monday. (laughter) This is fabulous news.
