ANNOUNCER: It\u2019s time. It\u2019s time for Barack Obama.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I know what you know. Despite all the progress that has been made, we still have more work to do. We have more work to do when more young black men languish in prisons than attend colleges and universities across America.<\/p>\n

ANNOUNCER: It\u2019s Barack Obama time: a Christian family man, community organizer, civil rights lawyer, courageous legislator, and US senator who has told the truth as a soldier for justice.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: We have more work to do when the black incidence of HIV\/AIDS and diabetes and asthma and every other illness, is multiple times higher than the rest of the population. We\u2019ve got more work to do when it takes a hurricane and bodies floating through a street for us to recognize race and poverty in this country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Come on.<\/p>\n

ANNOUNCER: The time is now. Barack Obama for president.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What a crock.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I\u2019m Barack Obama, and I approved this message.<\/p>\n

ANNOUNCER: Paid for by Obama for America.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Got more work to do when hurricane, bodies floating through a street for us to recognize race and poverty? Lord, we can\u2019t get away from it! Speaking of all these things, all these statistics that he cites. I have a companion story here. This is from the AP: ‘Democrats Back Urban League Agenda.\u2019 Really? ‘The leading Democratic presidential contenders on Friday endorsed a National Urban League agenda that calls for mandatory early childhood education and universal health care for children. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards each promised support for the Urban League\u2019s plan, which favors extending childhood education programs to children as young as age three and guaranteeing access for all to attend college.\u2019<\/p>\n

You know, nothing these people, meaning the Democrats, have promised in 40 years has changed anything. But it doesn\u2019t stop these civil rights groups from just lapping it all up. Nothing has changed. It\u2019s gotten worse, in fact. Yet they keep going back. Do you know why? I\u2019ll tell you exactly why. Because what this is about is keeping the Urban League leaders in a position in the Democrat Party. It\u2019s the same thing with every other element of the civil rights coalition. These people go out, they deliver the words, they deliver the votes, and they\u2019ll be sitting at the table of power at the Democrat Party. Whether a situation improves or not is irrelevant. Now the feud between Obama and Hillary continues. This is on the campaign trail in New Hampshire. Obama said this about Senator Hillary Clinton.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: I don\u2019t want a continuation of Bush-Cheney. I don\u2019t want Bush-Cheney Lite. I want a fundamental change. It\u2019s time to turn the page on how we do business and say to the world, ‘We are ready to lead. We are ready to lead by deed and example.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, man, is this stirring it up. He just called Hillary Bush and Cheney, Bush-Cheney LIte! Here\u2019s more.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: If we want fundamental change, then we can\u2019t be afraid to talk to our enemies. We can\u2019t be afraid to — I\u2019m not afraid of losing the PR war to dictators. I\u2019m happy to look them in the eye and say what needs to be said. I\u2019m happy to tell them what I think. I\u2019m not going to avoid them. I\u2019m not going to hide behind a bunch of rhetoric.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right, this is what it\u2019s all about. Hillary said that this approach that he advocated in the YouTube debate was ‘na&iuml;ve,\u2019 and Obama is saying, oh, yeah? It\u2019s not na&iuml;ve at all. It makes more sense than you giving Bush the authorization to go to war blah, blah, blah. So Hillary takes to the CNN airwaves. John King spoke to her yesterday about Obama\u2019s criticisms, and here\u2019s her response.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: This is getting kind of silly. You know, I\u2019ve been called a lot of things in my life, but I\u2019ve never been called George Bush or Dick Cheney, certainly. You have to ask, what\u2019s ever happened to the politics of hope?<\/p>\n

RUSH: (Doing Bill Clinton impression) ‘No attack…ever fed…a hungry child.\u2019 That\u2019s what you need to start saying, Hillary. That\u2019s what Bill said to Bob Dole in the 1996 debate: ‘No attack ever fed a hungry child.\u2019 Hillary speaking with John King about Obama\u2019s criticisms, continue with this.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: I have been saying consistently for a number of years now, we have to end the Bush era of ignoring problems, ignoring enemies and adversaries —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stop, stop, stop. Recue that, Ed. I\u2019m sorry, folks. I am awash in incredulity here. They are complaining about Bush not leaving our enemies alone. They\u2019re the ones that want to ignore things! They\u2019re the ones that want to pull out. They\u2019re the ones that want to pretend there\u2019s no war on terror. It\u2019s ‘just a bumper sticker slogan.\u2019 They\u2019re the ones that say the world is not in great danger here and we\u2019re certainly not a nation in great risk. ‘Ignoring enemies and adversaries\u2019? We can\u2019t even call \u2019em enemies! We can\u2019t call \u2019em the enemy. If you work at Reuters, you can\u2019t even call \u2019em terrorists. Okay, here\u2019s the whole bite from the top.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: I have been saying consistently for a number of years now, we have to end the Bush era of ignoring problems, ignoring enemies and adversaries, and I have been absolutely clear that we\u2019ve gotta return to robust and effective diplomacy. But I don\u2019t want to see the power and prestige of the United States president put at risk by rushing in to meetings with the likes of Chavez and Castro and Ahmadinejad.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is the smartest woman in the world. So she would do exactly what Bush is doing. She would ignore Ahmadinejad. In fact, we had <\/emphasize>diplomatic talks going on with Ahmadinejad. It\u2019s a waste of time. Castro? Chavez? Bush is ignoring all of these people just as she would for the very same reason. You don\u2019t elevate these people\u2019s status in the world by acting like you care. You don\u2019t grant them equal status. The dictator of Cuba, the dictator of Venezuela, the dictator of Iran are not, I\u2019m sorry, on the same field as the president of the United States<\/emphasize>. They would love to be. All it would take for them to get there is for an idiot president to start having them in town, having state dinners, go wherever they are and talk to them; find out what\u2019s on their mind and how we can help them and so forth, and you immediately elevate them. I don\u2019t know who she means if we\u2019re ignoring enemies and adversaries, Chavez, Castro, Ahmadinejad? Well, we\u2019re not even ignoring Ahmadinejad. <\/p>\n

By the way, speaking of Cuba, the interim president there ‘Raul Castro, announced Thursday that the government of Cuba will seek to open the country to more foreign investment, the clearest indication yet of his plans for ruling this robust island nation. Raul Castro said that his government is studying ways of increasing foreign investment without repeating the mistakes of the past, a reference to the often-heard complaint that US and or foreign countries dominated Cuba before their 1959 revolution.\u2019 The best way to translate this — and this is San Francisco Chronicle story — is that Raul Castro is reaching out to capitalists for help.
