CALLER: Dittos, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I had a question in regards to what is being done about Hugo Chavez.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nothing that anybody knows.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Really?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Not to say that there\u2019s nothing being done. But nothing that anybody knows.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hmm. It\u2019s just rather alarming to hear that he\u2019s taking over telecom, wants to have indefinite terms, and then I saw on Fox that he\u2019s looking to take over private citizen property.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. He has already nationalized the oil companies, the oil derricks that are down there, the drills, and the platforms, basically the operations of Big Oil. He\u2019s nationalized that. He also has a big PR campaign going on in this country designed to convince the American people that what is said about Hugo Chavez — what you just said, for example — is not true. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s why he had photo-ops with these brilliant Hollywood types like Sean Penn and Danny Glover and so forth. It\u2019s part of that PR effort. Look, the intelligence agencies of this country and the state department, they\u2019ve got desks and files on every one of these countries and guys like this. In fact, I\u2019ll give you an example. I don\u2019t know what we\u2019re going to do about Chavez. One of the problems in dealing with Chavez is oil. But there is a story today in the stack, and the stack is not that big, so it won\u2019t take me long to get to it. Here we go. If you didn\u2019t have any background on this story like I do, it probably wouldn\u2019t stand out. You\u2019d relegate this to the last thing I read. Here\u2019s the headline: ‘Iran Threatens German Banks Over Pull-Out –Tehran has threatened to bar major German banks that are pulling out of Iran due to US pressure and steep administration costs from returning to the country. The vice-governor of the Iranian central bank, Mohammad Jafar Mojarrad, told the Financial Times Deutschland (FTD) that the banks\u2019 actions could have long-term consequences. ‘We are not happy with the banks\u2019 decision,\u2019 he said.\u2019 <\/p>\n

Now, you say, ‘Okay, the Germans are pulling out of Iran. Whoop-de-do!\u2019 <\/p>\n

No, no, no. There\u2019s far more than what you think is going on here. <\/p>\n

‘What are we going to do about Iran, Rush? What are we going to do about Iran? Are we going to nuke it? What are we going to do about it?\u2019 <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019m convinced we\u2019re going to do something. <\/p>\n

Well, it appears, ladies and gentlemen, that there is a strategy in operation here between the United States and Germany to pull German money out of there, and what do you bet we\u2019re doing the same thing with other countries, too? What do you bet it won\u2019t be long before the French announce something like this? What if the strategy is to literally shut down their economy in Iran? It could well be. Has that been announced, by the way? Has the president said anything like that publicly? Of course not. So obviously we have a plan dealing with Iran. I can see it here. I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on with Chavez, but there has to be something. In fact, it\u2019s just not Chavez, by the way. Chavez is a big problem. That little commie pinko Ortega is back in power in Nicaragua. That\u2019s not insignificant. You know, the southern hemisphere is very close to us, and it\u2019s going in all kinds of bad directions. The leader of Columbia is doing great guns fighting on stopping the drug cartels and freeing up that country and turning it into a free-market economy. He comes up here and he gets dissed by the Democrats! Pelosi and Reid won\u2019t see him, because they are mad at him over the way he dealt with the drug cartels and what he\u2019s doing with unions down there. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s literally absurd. You can\u2019t count on the Democrats to protect the country, or even be respectful to our allies. John Kerry speaks with some respect and wants some understanding about the ‘reeducation camps\u2019 in Vietnam, which were nothing more than torture chambers \u2019til the people got their mind right. But then, of course, Abu Ghraib and Club Gitmo come along, and he has no sensitivity and no understanding. These people will run around and meet with these foreign leaders that despise this country, but they don\u2019t have the guts to go on Fox News. Thank God we have people in the administration now that are recognizing the threats posed to this country. You know, one of the big things here — and I\u2019m going to get in trouble for saying this, but I can say it because I\u2019m leaving for vacaciones. We have in this country a large group of people who want to draw a distinction between ‘moderate\u2019 Islam and Al-Qaeda type terrorists, the Islamofascists, and a friend of mine Andy McCarthy (who writes at National Review Online), was one of the members of the US attorney\u2019s office in the Southern District of Manhattan, which tried the blind sheik, Omar Abdel Rahman. The official position even back then in the early nineties, of the US government, was there\u2019s this ‘moderate Islam,\u2019 and then the extreme Islamofascists. <\/p>\n

Andy was preparing to maybe have to cross-examine the blind sheik. It didn\u2019t happen, but he had to be prepared for it in case the blind sheik took the stand. So what he did is he started examining everything the sheik had written and he was sort of comparing it with what was in the Koran, and he was certain that he would find a bunch of things the sheik had written and was saying that were not in the Koran, and he couldn\u2019t find them. They\u2019re all there. All this stuff is there. There is no ‘moderate versus extreme.\u2019 These terrorists, they\u2019re reading it. It\u2019s there, and they\u2019re being trained in it, and they\u2019re being revved up in it and so forth. The point I\u2019m making about all this is when you get a question, ‘What are we doing about Venezuela?\u2019 I don\u2019t know, but I\u2019m confident somebody\u2019s got a plan somewhere. I\u2019m not going to be confident if somebody like Hillary Clinton and Jamie Gorelick and the rest of that crowd gets back in there, precisely because of what we just learned about this CIA report. They took nothing seriously other than their own image and their approval numbers and their legacy. We are a big nation at big risk in a dangerous world. We have to have people leading it who understand those threats, and this bunch doesn\u2019t. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
