CALLER: Good afternoon. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m fine, Irv. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I\u2019m hoping that you will dispense with some largesse and allow me to cite three issues that I\u2019d like you to comment on, if that\u2019s possible.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fire away. Let\u2019s start with the first one. That\u2019s generally a good place to start.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I agree. I am unbelievably saddened by the phone call that you had with the lady from Seattle who cited the Mariner game and the Blue Angels and what have you, and somehow was able to indicate that the response from the crowd was somewhat related to the fact that they were all Christian — and you never said a word. Are there no one…? Is there no other group in this country that loves it, that\u2019s not Christian?<\/p>\n

RUSH: She was joking.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Could you not have told her that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: She was joking. It was actually self-deprecating humor, is how I interpreted it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t think so.<\/p>\n

RUSH: She was joking about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry. I\u2019m sorry, there are some things that are not funny, especially when we\u2019re talking about how Muslims feel, how this group feels, how that group feels. It\u2019s not a comment to make on a program such as yours where we are very sensitive about people, their feelings, the Constitution, all those good things. You don\u2019t say that. It\u2019s just not appropriate.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, we have a First Amendment on this show, Irv.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but there are still seven words you can\u2019t say, and that\u2019s a First Amendment, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but… All right, look. I really think she was joking. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, fine. I made my point. I made my point. You think she was kidding?<\/p>\n

RUSH: But I want to also tell you I agree with… I don\u2019t think anybody thinks that the only people in this country who are patriots are Christians. It was not something that even popped a red flag with me. I\u2019m sorry you were offended by it because it\u2019s not the purpose of the program.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. I just think it was wrong.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Now, just let me say two things very quickly that the Drive-By Conservative Media will never comment on. President Bush was quoted as saying that Judge Roberts recommended, um, what\u2019s her name, Miers, for the attorney general, and Roberts has since come out and said this judge never recommended Harriet Miers for the attorney general. It is not true. That\u2019s number one that the conservative media has not commented on, nor have you —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and the second thing I find even more interesting is that all this talk about supporting troops — and, yes, in the last two and a half years of the Republican dominated Congress, the Pentagon requested over and over to have Humvees that are extraordinarily protected for the IEDs because that\u2019s where 70% of our kids were getting killed or injured, and in two and a half years, the Republican-dominated, Republican White House could not find a dime to get that out, and just last month, the Pentagon said, ‘Oh, yes, we think we\u2019re going to get a thousand of those perhaps in the beginning of next year.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just in time for the pullout.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We\u2019re talking about three and a half years of troop support that we couldn\u2019t get them, Humvees, to protect their lives.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Irv, I want to thank you. In the first place, that\u2019s not true. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure it is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Nobody here can figure out what in the name of Sam Hill you\u2019re talking about John Roberts suggesting anybody to President Bush for attorney general. He is the Supreme Court Chief Justice. Has anybody heard the story? We have not heard of this story, Irv. What wacko, ten foil-hat publications are you reading or are you listening to? But the thing that I want to thank you for, Irv — and God love you and God bless you — is you are the first liberal to call this program to care about the troops, and, man, I am almost in tears, Irv. I thank you so much for that. <\/p>\n
