RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I wanted to talk to you really quick about the ‘hole\u2019 in the ozone layer theory and manmade global warming and all of that. My dad works for the national scientific balloon facility in Palestine, Texas, and they are the folks that send down the weather balloons to Antarctica and do a lot of calculations on the weather. I\u2019ve talked to some of the scientists, and my daughter has talked to some of the scientists that work with my father, and they pretty much say, you know, the hole in the ozone layer being man-made global warming, blah, blah, blah, that\u2019s all a myth. But what I\u2019m concerned about — and I think I know the answer to the question, but I\u2019m going to get you to confirm what I already think — the runoff that we see in Greenland and all the melting and everything else like that somewhat to me confirms global warming, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s manmade.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: You know, it\u2019s just the opposite. Greenland is the new rock concert for global warming. It is where all the politicians go to see water melting and then proclaim global warming. Pelosi was the last to go there, and we have an official climatologist on this program. His name is Dr. Roy Spencer<\/a>. He is former NASA. He\u2019s now at the University of Alabama – Huntsville. When this Greenland stuff started, he sent me a very simple explanation for what this so-called glacier melting and reduction actually is, and it is not warming at all, and it\u2019s one of these places that provides pictures that can be taken out of context like words can be taken out of context, to suggest that warming is taking place. Anyway, I\u2019m going to get Dr. Spencer to explain this to me again for you, Shannon. There are just so many myths. But Bjorn Lomborg had a piece in the Washington Post over the weekend and said this crisis over global warming is ridiculous. He said, we could stipulate anything we want. We could stipulate that warming is happening, which everybody thinks it is. We could even stipulate that man\u2019s contributing to it. It\u2019s not a crisis! In fact, it may lead to a whole lot of good things happening. It\u2019s based on the premise: Who are we to say that the climate, as it exists now, is the only climate we can ever have and we must save it or we\u2019re dead? That\u2019s absurd. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We had a call in the last hour saying, ‘Wait a minute. Global warming, whatever, maybe it\u2019s not manmade, but isn\u2019t Greenland melting? How do you explain that?\u2019<\/p>\n

I said that our official climatologist here, Dr. Roy Spencer, had explained it to me but it was a long time ago and it\u2019s buried in this giant Global Warming Stack over here. So he resent the note to me. Here\u2019s what he said. He said, ‘I\u2019ve run into people who actually think that ice breaking off of glaciers is a sign of global warming. Nancy Pelosi appears to be one of them. I have to explain to them that as long as snow continues to fall on glaciers, like Greenland or Antarctic ice sheets, those glaciers will slowly continue to flow slowly toward the sea and chunks break off, falling into the ocean. It\u2019s very dramatic, but it\u2019s completely natural. There are numerous factors here. You know, snow adds added weight. A lot of snow on your roof is a problem, as you well know, whether the world is warming or not. In fact, the colder it is and the snow doesn\u2019t melt, the bigger danger you face, if you\u2019ve got a pile of snow on top of your roof, as you well know. It\u2019s the same circumstance here. It\u2019s a totally natural thing,\u2019 and I was dead-on right. It provides people a photo that you can take out of context. <\/p>\n

‘Oh, look at part of that glacier falling off and breaking off and flowing into the sea! Oh, no, it\u2019s melting!\u2019 <\/p>\n

No, it\u2019s not that at all. It\u2019s just the opposite, in fact. There\u2019s so much damn snow that it\u2019s causing weight and then, of course, the floes headed into the warmer water. Any number of things can happen here, but it\u2019s not a sign that Greenland is melting, ladies and gentlemen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
