Axios has a story on their website that says Millennials are blaming Baby Boomers for ruining their lives<\/a>. Let me read. “Beset by big college loans, inheriting two wars, and facing an uncertain future of work, a majority of millennials say baby boomers have made things worse for them \u2014 and a lot of boomers agree, according to a new Axios\/SurveyMonkey poll.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/MillennialsMadGirlMenAfraid.jpg\")
<\/p>\n
“Why it matters: If it persists, the generational divide could turn into political rivalry as the generations compete for limited tax dollars \u2014 millennials seeking government help as automation takes hold, and boomers insisting on promised levels of Social Security and Medicare. The poll found that 51% of millennials (18- to 34-year-olds) blame boomers (51- to 69-year-olds) for making things worse for their generation.”<\/p>\n
Now, I\u2019m not sure, but I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s unique or not. I don\u2019t remember a poll of 18- to 34-year-olds who thought their future was doomed and that their parents were responsible for it. Do you? It could be, though. I mean, the number of polls taken out there over the years, and I just don\u2019t remember one this prominent nor this take. Notice that the take — notice, ideas this matter? Competition for government welfare dollars. Competition for entitlement dollars! What the hell!<\/p>\n
Okay. If you don\u2019t think the government\u2019s gonna have enough money, have you ever thought of working, anybody? W-o-r-k. The way it works is, it\u2019s called a job. You go out there, you do something and do it really well and people pay you for it. And then if you have something that only you can do, you open your own business, and you get income in that way, and hopefully it grows. And the harder you work — there\u2019s that word again, w-o-r-k — theoretically the more money you need.<\/p>\n
And the more money you earn, the less money from other people you\u2019re gonna be entitled to or need. You probably won\u2019t stop transporting, and you probably won\u2019t stop thinking you deserve it, but why would you turn over your needs to other people? Anybody ever heard of self-reliance? That means relying on yourself. This stuns me! The reason the Boomers and the Millennials are gonna be at war is a competition for essentially entitlement dollars?<\/p>\n
Now, there\u2019s one area with the Millennials I totally agree with \u2019em. Well, debt, yeah, but college loan debt. I think that the establishment, the elites, the ruling elites, the people who think they\u2019ve got all the answers have destroyed — well, destroyed is a strong word — they have done great damage to the whole notion of a college education. It\u2019s insidious. The first thing they\u2019ve done, and it\u2019s as old as the country is. “Gotta get an education, little Johnny. Gotta get an education. You\u2019re not going anywhere, little Johnny, unless you get an education.”<\/p>\n
And that then became, “You gotta go to college, little Johnny. If you don\u2019t go to college, you\u2019re never gonna amount to anything, little Johnny.” And then little Johnny\u2019s parents, “Yeah, if little Johnny doesn\u2019t go to college they\u2019re not gonna think much of me, either, they\u2019re gonna think my kid\u2019s a worthless ne\u2019er-do-well.” So parents began to insist that little Johnny go to college, no matter what else, go to college, little Johnny.<\/p>\n

And of course people involved in the college system, “Come on, little Johnny, and little Mary and everybody else, and pay whatever we charge you.” Then the colleges became basically indoctrination camps. And so they became even more important to the ruling elite, how to turn out an ongoing, never ending generation after generation of mind-numbed liberals? College.<\/p>\n
And then people said, “Gosh, we can get rich doing this. A, we\u2019ve got everybody convinced they have to go, and since they have to go, they\u2019re gonna go, and no matter it cost.” And then they come up with the scholarship and the benefits, and then the student loan program. And now, little Johnny has gotta go to college. If he doesn\u2019t go to college, he doesn\u2019t have a chance, he\u2019s not gonna know anything, he\u2019s not gonna get a job, he\u2019s not even gonna know what entitlement dollars are, but it\u2019s gonna cost little Johnny anywhere from 40 to $200,000.<\/p>\n
So when little Johnny gets out of college, he\u2019s working for the lending institution for how many years before he even gets to appreciate any of the income generated by his degree? I\u2019m serious. I think these people running the student loan program and all this turned this thing into an albatross around graduates\u2019 necks. What they have done to the whole notion of a college education is obscene to me.<\/p>\n
And you\u2019ll notice nobody ever cuts tuition. We\u2019ll beat up on the oil companies all day for gas prices, and we\u2019ll beat up on cable companies all day for how much it costs to get cable TV, and we\u2019ll beat up on this company and that industry and all that. But somehow pseudo and faux intellectuals at liberal institutions of higher learning, nobody ever claims they\u2019re ripping anybody off. Nobody ever claims they\u2019re charging too much. Sixty grand a semester at Harvard plus room and board, pay it. It\u2019s worth it. Is it? Who can afford this without taking out a loan? Very few people.<\/p>\n
People that are given scholarships to go to universities probably don\u2019t even end up going to class half the time. ‘Cause they\u2019re not there to go to class. But look at how seriously, look how much it costs, look at the debt that people now have graduating. I\u2019m not for debt forgiveness of student loans. But that\u2019s what\u2019s gonna happen. It\u2019s been alluded to. Hillary was talking about it during her campaign. I thought Obama would actually do it. I actually thought forgiveness of student loans would happen with Obama.<\/p>\n
But now, look at Crazy Bernie!\u00a0 Look at Crazy Bernie!\u00a0 Crazy Bernie now has an idea that, by the way, Donald Trump has already fixed.\u00a0 Donald Trump\u2019s already done it.\u00a0 Have you heard about Crazy Bernie?\u00a0 Crazy Bernie, as part of his next campaign, is going to suggest that everybody in America be guaranteed a job, minimum $15 an hour.\u00a0 Somebody said to Crazy Bernie (paraphrased exchange), “Well, what happens when all the jobs are filled and there\u2019s still people out of work?”<\/p>\n
Crazy Bernie had the answer: “We\u2019ll hire \u2019em in the government!\u00a0 We\u2019ll just make \u2019em government employees!”<\/p>\n
“What are they gonna do?”<\/p>\n
“It doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 What they do doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 What we give them is what matters.”<\/p>\n
Crazy Bernie is promising full employment.\u00a0 The only problem is that Trump has, for all intents and purposes, already done it!\u00a0 We are at statistically full employment now!\u00a0 Unemployment in the African-American and Hispanic communities is at an all-time low.\u00a0 There are more African-Americans working, more Latinos, more Hispanics working on a percentage basis than any time in American history.\u00a0 The unemployment rate\u2019s barely over 4%.<\/p>\n
New jobs are being created regularly.\u00a0 It\u2019s sustaining itself as the economy rebounds.\u00a0 I find it fascinating.\u00a0 In the midst of all this, Crazy Bernie comes along as though nobody can find a job and promises everybody a job.\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 You know who ought to be standing in opposition to this right now is — well, aside from everybody — people that run universities.\u00a0 Because if Crazy Bernie\u2019s idea ever happened, nobody\u2019s gonna need an education to get a job.<\/p>\n

All you\u2019re gonna need is Crazy Bernie.\u00a0 They want to turn Santa Claus into 365 days a year, not one.\u00a0 And you know what\u2019s really sad?\u00a0 The legitimate arguments against this will go over a lot of people\u2019s heads.\u00a0 It will not resonate.\u00a0 The market-driven, the personal-value, the work-reward arguments — all of the arguments against this that make pure, intellectual, economic sense — will go over the heads of people.<\/p>\n
They\u2019ll be seen as mean-spirited racism or bigotry or cold-hearted attitudes toward the poor or what have you.\u00a0 I gotta take a break here.\u00a0 But Millennials, Baby Boomers, and a coming war over a limited number of entitlement dollars.\u00a0 You want to bet there\u2019s a limited…? We\u2019re $21 trillion in debt.\u00a0 It\u2019s been demonstrated here that there is no interest whatsoever in even making the pretense of containing spending.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
