RUSH: Dallas and Janet, you\u2019re next. Great to have you with us.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Mega dittos from Dallas.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My mother-in-law turned me on to you about 15 years ago, and I\u2019m the proud mother of two Rush babies.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Congratulations! (applauding) Congratulations. We love hearing this kind of stuff.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019re college educated, they come from a wealthy family, and they\u2019re both joining the military. Imagine that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait. Did you say they come from a wealthy family?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are wealthy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, we are now that we\u2019re 54. We weren\u2019t wealthy until we hit about 45.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, they don\u2019t let you make any money in this country \u2019til you are 40. That\u2019s —<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No, they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Hold it just a second here, Janet. You deserve special recognition here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You just had the guts to admit that you\u2019re wealthy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m proud of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And you don\u2019t sound… You\u2019re not making excuses for it. You\u2019re not apologizing for it. Kudos to you. Most wealthy people do not… They wouldn\u2019t do what you just did. They\u2019d start making excuses or they just wouldn\u2019t even mention it at all.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, we\u2019ve worked very hard for what we have, and I\u2019m proud of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You ought to be. Congratulations.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We have a small business, and I don\u2019t think people understand how this tax hike will trickle down to all areas of the economy. We have three people in our office. We hired the third person when Bush gave us our tax cuts, and I got to come home. I had been working for free. If this takes place, we\u2019re going to have to let one of the people go.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because we can\u2019t afford to pay $18 an hour that we\u2019re paying. Now, we can hire people to do their job for $10 an hour. Does that make sense? But because we got a tax break years ago, we were able to hire more people.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And why did you want to hire more people? Why didn\u2019t you just put the money in your back pocket?<\/p>\n

CALLER: This way I got to come home. I had been there working for free.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But it was also a way to expand the business, right? I mean, if you\u2019ve got more people to work, you have more work that needs to be done.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, we don\u2019t need any more employees. We have more than enough.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, but I mean back then. We\u2019re going back to 2001 and 2003 when the tax cuts kicked in.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Right. That just put more money in our pocket, which allowed us to hire another person to do my job.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you finally got to go home?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What did you do when you got home? Because the kids… Were they gone yet? <\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no, no. The kids were still there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ohhhh. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a school teacher, and I strongly believed in stay-at-home moms. So I really didn\u2019t want to be where I was. So I came home and got to be with the kids. Now they\u2019re gone and they\u2019re in college.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now what are you doing at home?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I still work at the office but —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, you went back to the office.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I\u2019m still there part-time, but I\u2019m at home more. Okay, here\u2019s my other point.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: We\u2019ve been discussing what we\u2019re going to do if this tax cut happens, because I knew it was going to take place. We\u2019ve been discussing it for weeks.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You mean the tax increase?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, yes. We\u2019re going to have to put our house on the market. We don\u2019t really need it anymore, not this large because the kids are gone — and what I\u2019m afraid is going to happen is if everybody does this, there\u2019s going to be a glut on the market, and the real estate prices are really going to go down. Now, in Dallas, the market is still really good, so we\u2019re thinking, ‘We better go ahead and sell it now while the market\u2019s good, because if this happens, it\u2019s going to crash.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, this is an excellent point. Folks, what you\u2019re hearing here is a woman who\u2019s making plans based on the worst-case scenario that her government might take, action that it might take, and you can\u2019t just afford to sit around and hope that this doesn\u2019t happen. So you\u2019re going to have to take actions that you\u2019d really rather not take. You don\u2019t want to take them. You\u2019re being forced to alter your life because of a coming massive tax increase that you don\u2019t really know is going to come, but you can\u2019t afford to sit by and wait and get caught up short if it does. I want to make this prediction to you, too, folks. Let\u2019s say this tax increase happens, and let\u2019s say, by hook or by crook, they get it passed in 2010. That\u2019s when the tax cuts that we are currently living with — 2001, 2003 — expire. So you couple the expiration of the tax cuts (that\u2019s a new tax increase), then you tack on Hillary Clinton\u2019s new tax increase, which is not Rangel\u2019s; it\u2019s Hillary Clinton\u2019s. You\u2019re looking at skyrocketing marginal rates, but you watch what happens at the end of 2010. All of the left-wing, corporate big shot donors who get their massive year-end bonuses are going to take as much of that bonus or sell as much of their stock options or whatever, in the final months of 2010, before the increases go into effect in 2011. Remember Eisner did that. He dumped something like $292 million in income one month before the Clinton retroactive tax increase went into effect — and after all your taxes go up, they\u2019ll still be coming at you to pay for everybody else\u2019s health care, folks. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
