RUSH: We had a BBC survey earlier today of 22,000 Britons, people all over the world, something like 70 some odd percent of them would gladly pay higher prices, gladly pay more taxes, and gladly make sacrifices in their lifestyles to fix global warming. However, this is a story in the PlanetArc.com Daily News. ‘People over 50…\u2019 this is the relevant graph ‘…people over 50, among the most climate-aware and affluent group, were deeply suspicious of any government move to raise green taxes, viewing it as a money making mechanism. People between 16 and 29, especially men, were most likely to say the environment was a low priority for them. They offered a range of reasons for not changing their lifestyles. The survey by Millennium, an agency specializing in marketing to the mature, found 84% believe the government was capitulating on climate fears to raise funds and also found little willingness among respondents to change lifestyles much, if at all, to benefit the environment.\u2019 This is another survey from the UK. So, good, a glimmer of hope over there to counteract the stupid report in the BBC.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Pleasure to talk to you Rush on my day off while I\u2019ve got three lights on in my house, the air blasting, got the oven and TV on, and using as much toilet paper as I want.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That a way, Babe.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) My comment is that this is just getting so nauseating already with this global warming hypocrisy and I want to know why they keep putting these whiny, wah, wah, wah rug rats on Capitol Hill to be testifying, you know, for whatever matter. It\u2019s just getting ridiculous —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why don\u2019t you take a stab at answering your own question?<\/p>\n

CALLER: For the sympathy?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Exactly right. If the children are crying, and if the children are upset, it\u2019s no different than showing adults pictures of crying children than showing children pictures of so-called stranded polar bears.<\/p>\n

CALLER: True.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The children say, ‘Mommy, Mommy, the polar bears are dying and we\u2019re causing it. What are you going to do? What are you going to do?\u2019 In this case, you\u2019ve got all these adults, ‘Oh, that poor child.\u2019 It\u2019s just Democrats exploiting. You want to hear this with me again, Madeleine? I know it drives you nuts, but people haven\u2019t heard it in a while.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Love to.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Haven\u2019t played it since the first hour. This is from an actual House hearing this morning chaired by Ed Markey from Massachusetts. The child is Cheryl ‘Charlee\u2019 Lockwood, and she\u2019s an Inuit from Alaska. <\/p>\n

LOCKWOOD: (crying) Just in my lifetime, I\u2019ve seen so many… changes in our community that it just hurts to (sniffle) not be able to have our… (voice trembling) It\u2019s really scary to lose our tradition, our culture, and we\u2019ve been living here for thousands of years (sob) and it\u2019s not just that we\u2019re losing our food, it\u2019s losing our homes, and — because we are spiritually connected, and emotionally and (sniffle) physically connected to our homes, and (sob) there are so many — so many — communities that are in trouble. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (crying) Republicans cut my school lunch budget, too, I don\u2019t know what to do, Congressman Markey. (crying) The last time they tried that, that I remember, the Republicans were gonna cut the school lunch program and the kids went up there and said they were going to starve. Are your parents going to let you starve, or are they going to feed you before you go to school? It was absurd. But you\u2019re right, Madeleine, this is to tug at the heart strings of people because nobody wants a child to cry, not even in Congress where everybody should cry over what happens. Nobody wants a child to cry, so it\u2019s just an attempt here to tug at people\u2019s heart strings and to do whatever we can to make sure the child stops crying, and what do we gotta do? We gotta stop global warming so the child\u2019s spiritual connection to her homeland, and her communities, and so forth doesn\u2019t melt away into the Arctic. But, we\u2019ve all had to move for a host of reasons. Madeleine, I appreciate the phone call. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush, kudos to you from our family in red rock country.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, good. Yeah, we\u2019ve been listening to you since the first week you went national.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. Bob, I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard it, you live in Sedona — I took the Pink Jeep tour.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, that was great. Yeah, it was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, they\u2019re all over the place.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I met one of the best massage therapists I\u2019ve ever met out there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, we\u2019ve got a million of them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I forgot her name.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, well, she\u2019ll call you and let you know, I\u2019m sure. Hey, listen, I\u2019m at the other end of the spectrum from Billy in Texas and that poor blubbering little girl in Congress. I\u2019m 86 years old. I\u2019ve been through several of these warming and cooling cycles, and they\u2019re perfectly natural. It disgusts me the way these agenda-driven environmentalist wackos and politicians are scaring the hell out of all the young people. And my message to them would be, buck up.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s buck up with a ‘B,\u2019 folks. Buck up with a ‘B.\u2019<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, just buck up. But just to prove my point, back in 1932 or 1933, in that area, it was Depression back then, but my mother used to scrape up a nickel a week so that I could go to the picture show, they called them. Now they call it the movies. And I can recall, they had newsreels which, you know, it gave news from all over the world. And one particular newsreel showed melting ice, and it was at one of the poles, I can\u2019t recall now whether it was North Pole or South Pole. But it was melting ice, and I went home to my mother, and I said, ‘You know, one of the poles are melting.\u2019 And she said, ‘Oh, really?\u2019 It didn\u2019t scare her a bit. And it just struck me as odd, because back then, they taught you geography and the Constitution and stuff like that in the public schools, and it just struck — so this has been going on, Rush, for —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I know. You know, Bob, I\u2019m going to have to dig this story out of the archives —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — because it\u2019s going to prove very useful. A couple of guys, and I forget who and from where, chronicled, they went back and covered media reports of climate change starting back in the late 1800s, and what they found was there\u2019s a 25- to 30-year cycle, and every 25 to 30 years they change from global warming to global cooling, and they can always find a scientific expert to quote to say, ‘Yep, it\u2019s cooling out there, we\u2019ve got big, big, big problems, know it\u2019s warming out there, we\u2019ve got big, big problems.\u2019 They documented it with actual quotes from the New York Times in the late 1800s and other publications, talking about the global cooling that was going to happen. And then 25, 30 years later, that changes to global warming. And the most recent cycle of this was 1979 — <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — when Newsweek and TIME both had cover stories on the coming global cooling and the coming ice age.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They scared the people in Buffalo half to death, up in upstate New York.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know. It\u2019s a cycle, and what\u2019s happening here, and you\u2019ve nailed it. This is just a bunch of alarmists who have a political agenda trying to scare people into making sacrifices in their lives, which equals paying more taxes, paying higher prices, and roll back their lifestyles. And people, ‘Why would liberals care about that?\u2019 Liberals care about controlling your life. It may be hard to accept that because this is the United States of America, but that\u2019s the objective that these people have. When they want to take more income from you, leaving you less disposable income, and then when they want to make you turn to them for your health care, for example, and turn to you for whatever else that you need in life, tell me how much freedom you\u2019re going have to when you can only get it from them, when A, they\u2019ve taxed you to death, and B, they\u2019re the only ones providing it. Then you\u2019re stuck. This is exactly what they\u2019re aiming for. The destruction they do to society and culture, they don\u2019t care about that. They\u2019re after power. Pure and simple, and the exercise of it. Bob, I appreciate the phone call, 1933 newsreel, one of the poles was melting. He saw it at the picture show. <\/p>\n

RUSH: We just remembered here after the call from Bob out in Sedona, Arizona. He went to the picture show in 1933 (that\u2019s what my dad called it: ‘the picture show\u2019) and he watched the newsreel, and one of the poles was melting, in 1933, and 1934 was the hottest year on record in the United States of America! By the way, these two guys — I just printed it out: On the website it takes 18 pages to print as the website displays it. It\u2019s not that long if you get the text version of it, but one of them is Dan Gainor from the T. Boone Pickens Free Market Foundation. So I\u2019m going to keep this handy here. Let me just read one thing to you from it<\/a>. New York Times, May 21st, 1975: ‘Scientists Ponder Why World\u2019s Climate is Changing — A major cooling widely considered to be inevitable.\u2019 The New York Times, May 21st, 1975! Listen to the way the story starts. It\u2019s by Warren Anderson, a research analyst, Dan Gainor, the Boone Pickens Free Market Fellow. <\/p>\n

‘It was five years before the turn of the century and major media were warning of disastrous climate change. Page six of The New York Times was headlined with the serious concerns of ‘geologists.\u2019 Only the president at the time wasn\u2019t Bill Clinton; it was Grover Cleveland. And the Times wasn\u2019t warning about global warming — it was telling readers the looming dangers of a new ice age. The year was 1895, and it was just one of four different time periods in the last 100 years when major print media predicted an impending climate crisis. Each prediction carried its own elements of doom, saying Canada could be ‘wiped out\u2019 or lower crop yields would mean ‘billions will die.” It\u2019s a media phenomenon. I\u2019m not saying that they spread it, although they might. It\u2019s that there are always ‘experts\u2019 out there who will say these things that the media will dutifully report because the media is oriented toward crisis, and there\u2019s always a bunch of crisis-mongers out there who are crisis-mongering to raise money, and it\u2019s no different than what\u2019s happening now. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughter) That would not be good. But, listen, the mission is this: With your spies and all your resources, I would love to know how many millionaires have been created out of this global warming.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Algore is one.<\/p>\n

CALLER: He\u2019s the biggest moose of them all. I would be willing to bet that this is what drives it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I mean I think you\u2019re probably right, follow the money, you\u2019ve got these people selling carbon offsets, carbon credits, saying, ‘Oh, yeah. I\u2019ll sell you these carbon credits for a hundred grand. I\u2019ll plant some trees for you,\u2019 and all they\u2019re doing is accepting money from people so they can assuage their guilt over all the pollution that they\u2019re causing, but not actually cut back on using any.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. If they would put that money towards hydrogen vehicles, it would probably be solved by now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, good point. The Rush Intelligence Agency does have tentacles and microphones everywhere, and we will see what we can do. It\u2019s actually a good point. We got time to squeeze one more in here. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, you just hit on it, I think, the follow-the-money concept when it comes to NBC and GE.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think everybody knows that General Electric is the largest, I think the world\u2019s largest, producer of wind turbine electric generators, and what more green way to generate electricity is through wind power? So why wouldn\u2019t they be on all week promoting green technology?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, let\u2019s see if they promote technology down the road. They gotta fill 150 hours so I bet they do. What they\u2019ve started out doing, they\u2019re not promoting green technology. They\u2019re promoting green sacrifice.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s true. But I think the only green they\u2019re looking for, Rush, is the green that goes to GE\u2019s bottom line.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, of course. Whether developing an audience, a loyal audience to NBC because GE cares, because NBC cares, and so forth. But no question that money is behind a lot of this.
