RUSH: Bill Nye. Now, this is an example proving once again the things that we used to joke about are now actually coming to pass. You know, Bill Nye the Science Guy? You know he\u2019s not a science guy. He\u2019s a nerd. He\u2019s a geek. I mean, he wears a white lab coat, and he\u2019s on PBS. So he\u2019s an accepted leftist. But he\u2019s not a scientist. It\u2019s typical. The left totally invests in this guy and he\u2019s not even a scientist. Because he utters the political things they want to hear.<\/p>\n

Bill Nye… You remember back in the early days when the environmentalist wackos were suggesting that cow farts were destroying the climate, causing global warming and we needed to end McDonald\u2019s? McDonald\u2019s was producing so much cattle — or needed so much cattle, so much beef — that McDonald\u2019s was actually responsible for global warming because of all the cow farts. Bill Nye the Science Guy now things taxing cow farts would be a fantastic thing for the world.<\/p>\n

\"\"We used to joke that they would raise taxes on cow farts, and now here a guy is preparing proposing it. He said, “Well, this is what we can do. It\u2019s a win-win, to have a fee on carbon. So if you\u2019re raising livestock, producing a lot of carbon dioxide with your farm equipment, the exhaustive from the animals” that would be the farts “then you would pay a fee on that, and it would be reflected in the price of meat, reflected in the price of fish, reflected in the price of peanuts.” Fish? (interruption) Well, it\u2019s not… No, no. It\u2019s not fish farts. Don\u2019t get confused.<\/p>\n

Bill Nye says cows, cattle fart. But it is the greenhouse gases produced by all farm equipment that needs to be taxed, because it all gets combined. So you have fish farmers that create a lot of carbon dioxide. You have a lot of peanut farmers that create a lot of carbon dioxide. So Bill Nye, in an interview in The Daily Beast, said, “This would be a free market way to reckon the real cost of a meat diet to the world.”<\/p>\n

But then he said, “Conservatives are now against such a thing because they\u2019re against any regulation, any tax, or any government involvement in anything. But, again, it won\u2019t last, and a carbon fee would be a fantastic thing for the world.” Republicans are not against every… This is the classic thing. This is why Republicans are hated, though. This is why Republicans are instantly maligned and mischaracterized. People like this clown, Bill Nye, run around — and he\u2019s not alone by any stretch.<\/p>\n

But to call taxing cow farts free market so as to demonstrate “the real cost” of a meat diet to the world. So now we got militant vegetarianism to boot!<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We get started on the phones. Greg is on vacation in the Greek isles, reaching out to us in the EIB Network. What time is it where you are?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s about 7:45, I think. Somewhere in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re a half hour ahead in your time zone. Okay, welcome. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good. Yeah. Hey, the reason I called, I was listening to your show on my phone, on the internet, and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you using the Rush app?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I\u2019m not using the Rush app. I\u2019m using iHeart.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Same difference.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Same difference.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s the same stream. So great.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Same stream.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re listening to it on the app.<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: Anyway, your comment about cows. Cows don\u2019t fart.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Cows don\u2019t fart.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve never heard this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. They have a stomach system. If you\u2019re from the farm, you don\u2019t give green hay to a cow, because they will blow… You know, they\u2019ll blow up. And they can\u2019t fart it out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know cows have three stomachs; they chew their cud. They do all that. The first I\u2019d heard that cows didn\u2019t fart.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, they can\u2019t fart. They really can\u2019t fart. They come… You know, they get it all out when they poop, but they can\u2019t fart.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, this changes everything. I mean, this literally changes everything. I appreciate this. I\u2019m stunned. We got a guy on a yacht in the Greek isles. He\u2019s listening to the program, and he hears Bill Nye the Science Guy wants to tax cow farts, and he calls and says, “No, they don\u2019t even fart.” On what other show would this happen? On what other show would a guy in the Greek isles be listening to this program on a cruise — no doubt on a big yacht.<\/p>\n

You can hear it in his voice. He\u2019s in a big yacht — and the reason the time zone\u2019s wrong. I think that\u2019s when he looked at the call when he called. He probably called here at 25 after the hour. He has been on hold since. Now, you can find places where time zones are like a half hour ahead. In some Muslim countries they\u2019re a half hour ahead. In Afghanistan. A few of them. But I don\u2019t think Greece and the Greek aisles is one of them. So it\u2019s probably when he called.<\/p>\n

Okay, we need somebody looking up here, this claim that cows do not fart.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s Jim in Jupiter, Florida. Jim, you\u2019re next. Great to have you with us. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, hello, Mr. Rush. Yes, I have bad news for Bill, \u2019cause the vegetarians are gonna be taxed more than carnivores, because metabolically your body oxidizes protein and gives off less carbon dioxide than when you metabolically oxidize starches that are in vegetables.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute! Hold it a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re saying eating meat produces less methane, less carbon dioxide in the body than plant products do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I\u2019ve been wishing to tell you this for years getting on the phone and tell you this. Absolutely is a fact. Look it up metabolically, any first year medical student can tell you that. It\u2019s in the biochemical analyst. Look it up. Yep! You oxidize less carbon dioxide, you produce less carbon dioxide when you oxidize proteins than when you oxidize the carbohydrates that are in vegetables.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Fascinating. Utterly fascinating.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Vegetarians should be taxed more than carnivores. That\u2019s the way I look at it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m all for that! If we\u2019re gonna start taxing food that way, tax the militant vegans.<\/p>\n

\"\"CALLER: Amen.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey, you said you learned it in medical school. Are you in fact a doctor?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Rush, I left medical school, and actually I called you up the day I left medical school in \u201996. I have a master\u2019s in environmental engineering. I left that field. I\u2019m now a nurse as a contractor working for a big electric company in Florida — I won\u2019t say the name — and I\u2019m doing fine. This is my fifth career, and I\u2019m doing fine, and I don\u2019t regret leaving medical work. I\u2019m the only guy that left medical school to become a nurse. I think I\u2019m doing fine.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See what\u2019s possible here, folks? The guy goes to med school. For whatever reason, “Ah, I want to do something new,” and has had five different careers. How many people are locked into what they think is a no-win situation they can\u2019t get out of, and here\u2019s a guy who sounds very happy, well adjusted, obviously educated. He knows that eating meat products produces less farts and methane — and thus carbon dioxide — than eating vegetables? It only makes sense. Why do you think in Blazing Saddles they had to use beans for the fart scene? They sure didn\u2019t use steak!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Great to talk to you, Rush. And that call from Jerome? Gosh, it just almost moved me to tears. It\u2019s so amazing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s incredible. It\u2019s incredible.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, it really is. But I was calling again about the Bill Nye. I\u2019m confused, because I was raised on a small ranch. We had cattle and I\u2019m now a financial adviser actually in Waco, Texas, and I have clients who are ranchers with cattle, and I have clients who are farmers, and what… I don\u2019t understand why Bill Nye doesn\u2019t know that farmers actually use for vegetables a lot more equipment than folks who raise cattle. But then I figured out why he probably doesn\u2019t know that. He probably just watched that show VeggieTales where the vegetables can walk and talk. And since he\u2019s not an actual scientist, he probably thinks that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: So he probably thinks that the vegetables just reproduce themselves and then they just walk themselves to market so there\u2019s no equipment use.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know… (laughing) It\u2019s funny. He watches shows where the vegetables walk and talk like Ratatouille.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Yeah.<\/p>\n

\"\"RUSH: But, you know, it is worthwhile exploring. Does he know he\u2019s wrong, or not? And if he knows he\u2019s wrong, why is he lying to people about it? That wouldn\u2019t be hard to ascertain. He\u2019s a liberal. He believes in advancing a propaganda agenda.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But how do these people end up believing this stuff that just is demonstrably not true? Why go after cattle? Why go after beef? Why go after McDonald\u2019s? Look at these people. They end up with enemies that they seek to destroy as they advance their agenda. It\u2019s amazing to watch this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, and McDonald\u2019s is one of the biggest employers in the country, you know? (laughing) But it just boggles the mind. It\u2019s like, how can you not use simple logic on that argument?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s an answer to that. Logic is the result of critical thinking. Logic is reasoning. You\u2019ve gotta have common sense. It\u2019s painting with a bit of a broad brush here to say so, but liberals are not liberals because they\u2019ve thought about things. It\u2019s almost become a cliche to say, but they are liberals because of feelings. It\u2019s all emotional. And it\u2019s actually religious to them. And just like you can\u2019t tell a Christian that what he believes is wrong…<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not gonna believe you if he\u2019s devout, if he\u2019s devoted to the faith. It\u2019s the same thing with liberals. It\u2019s their religion. You can\u2019t tell them you\u2019re wrong. And that\u2019s why they want you to shut up. You don\u2019t have the right to tell \u2019em they\u2019re wrong. They don\u2019t want to hear it. And that\u2019s why political correctness was created to shut you up so they don\u2019t have to listen to it. So that\u2019s why dealing with them is so tough. They don\u2019t think.
