RUSH: Get this, from our old buddies at Campus Reform<\/a>. “A University of Georgia professor issued an apology to those he had ‘offended\u2019 when he…” Are you ready for this? “[H]e congratulated an old friend on becoming the state\u2019s Republican candidate for governor. Charles Davis, dean of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at UGA, sent the offending tweet shortly after Brian Kemp won the GOP primary Tuesday night, noting that he had been friends with Kemp since childhood and considers him a ‘nice guy.'”<\/p>\n

\"\"That congratulatory tweet to a Republican election winner in the Georgia governor primary by a University of Georgia legal professor, a dean, created so much hate and so many threatening tweets that the dean at the University of Georgia had to apologize for being friendly with his friend! “I\u2019d like to apologize to anyone offended by my tweet shout out to Brian Kemp…I\u2019ve read and learned so much from you all and will endeavor to be more thoughtful.”<\/p>\n

Are you kidding me? No wonder we\u2019re losing the universities! If I sound agitated, folks, it\u2019s because I am — and without going through it again, I would reference you to the first segment of the program today if I sound less than my jocular self<\/a>. I\u2019m trying to sound as friendly and amicable as ever, but I\u2019m still seething here over a bunch of things. Anyway, this is why we\u2019re losing colleges. You believe this? The two people had been lifelong friends. One is a Republican; the other is a dean of the journalism school at the University of Georgia.<\/p>\n

The Republican friend runs for governor in Georgia and wins the Republican primary after having been endorsed by Trump. His friend, lifelong friend, the dean at the journalism school, University of Georgia, sent him a simple, congratulatory, friendly tweet. Leftists all over the country bombard the dean of the j-school, threatening him, accusing him to the point that he issues an apology tweet apologizing for sending a congratulatory note to his friend, lifelong friend who won the Georgia gubernatorial primary.<\/p>\n

Again, “I\u2019d like to apologize to anyone offended by my tweet shout out to Brian Kemp…I\u2019ve read and learned so much from you all and will endeavor to be more thoughtful.” Yes, I\u2019m gonna be more thoughtful in the future, and I\u2019m gonna get rid of all my friends, and I\u2019m gonna stop being nice to them, and I\u2019m certainly gonna stop congratulating them for winning elections, just because they\u2019re Republicans and I\u2019m not. This guy, the dean of the j-school, apparently… I mean, he caved like a piece of balsawood in a 15-mile-an-hour wind to a mob — a mob of people he doesn\u2019t even know!<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not a kid. This guy\u2019s not a teenager obsessed with what people think about him on Twitter or Facebook. This guy\u2019s the dean of a j-school! He\u2019s the dean of a college of journalism! Here\u2019s what he tweeted. “‘I went to high school with GOP guv candidate @BrianKempGA. We played YMCA ball from childhood. Politics be damned. He is a nice guy, always was. Kind to a fault,\u2019 Davis tweeted. ‘He\u2019s a friend, always has been, and will be when we\u2019re old(er) and grey(er). That\u2019s how all this should work, people,'” and he got mountains of hate and threatening messages on Twitter.<\/p>\n

“Rather than embracing Davis\u2019 call for civility, liberals quickly denounced him for having something nice to say about a Republican,” his friend. They said that Kemp, the Republican that won the gubernatorial race, is “a ‘racist\u2019 who ‘spews bigoted and dangerous rhetoric\u2019…” This is what his friend the journalism professor says he “learned.” He learned that his lifelong friend spews racism. He didn\u2019t know it! He learned that his lifelong friend is a bigot. He didn\u2019t know it!<\/p>\n

He\u2019s soooo grateful to the insane lunatics on the left who tweeted him en masse and threatened him for educating him about the facts of his friends that he\u2019s known all of his life. “‘You\u2019re a straight white man. Of course[,] he was nice and kind to you. Racists are generally nice to their own kind,\u2019 one user [tweeted]. ‘Why don\u2019t you say what you really mean. Politics be damned. You\u2019d never vote for a black woman and would much rather vote for the white racist.'”<\/p>\n

“‘It\u2019s the definition of privilege,\u2019 another user remarked caustically. ‘~the dean~ [sic] has the luxury of damning politics because no politician is threatening his rights, safety, or survival; he is willing to empower those,'” his friend, the governor, “‘who would threaten the same of others on account of the candidate being \u2018nice\u2019 to him personally.'” So what do you think that is, the end of a friendship demanded by a Twitter mob?<\/p>\n

All because this Republican who won the primary is automatically a racist and a bigot — and his lifelong friend didn\u2019t know it! The dean of the j-school didn\u2019t know that, and is now thankful to the mob for informing him what a bad guy his friend is, and he hopes that because he\u2019s learned so much he will endeavor to be “more thoughtful” about being nice to Republicans in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
