RUSH: I have to update you on a love story. Do you remember it was last week, I think, I told you that a friend of mine told me that out of the blue he got an e-mail from his high school sweetheart that he hadn\u2019t seen in 30 years. He was just falling.<\/p>\n

I said, ‘How in the world did this woman get your e-mail address when you haven\u2019t spoken to her for 30 years?\u2019<\/p>\n

He said, ‘Well, she found it on a high school site, one of these reunion things. Everybody puts their contact information in and so forth.\u2019 <\/p>\n

So here\u2019s the update on this. This is unbelievable. <\/p>\n

The friend said to me yesterday, ‘You know, I\u2019m going to go out and buy an engagement ring.\u2019<\/p>\n

I said, ‘What?\u2019<\/p>\n

‘Yep. I\u2019m going to go out and buy an engagement ring.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘You mean this woman that you hadn\u2019t seen since high school, or is this another one that you\u2019ve met?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘No, no, no. The woman from high school.\u2019 <\/p>\n

I said, ‘Have you met her yet?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘No.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘You what? You haven\u2019t? You haven\u2019t seen her? You haven\u2019t seen her in person; you haven\u2019t talked to her in 30 years and you\u2019re going to go out and buy an engagement ring and go see her?\u2019 <\/line> <\/line> She lives in a very, you know, cosmopolitan Southern city. <\/line><\/p>\n

He said, ‘Yeah.\u2019<\/p>\n

Now, does that not just warm the heart? I mean, you haven\u2019t seen somebody in 30 years. You get an e-mail from them, spend time on the phone, and fall so deeply in love; you go buy an engagement ring before you\u2019ve even seen the woman in 30 years! If that doesn\u2019t tell you, a boy chases a girl \u2019til she catches him — and in my friend\u2019s case it\u2019s been 30 years. Wow! Do you realize that\u2019s one for the romance novels? And it will probably work! You know, this is a thing that will defy all the experts, defy all the Oprahs, defy all the Dr. Phils, all the romance novels. It\u2019ll work. Everything about this says: Don\u2019t do it! <\/p>\n

‘You haven\u2019t seen her yet?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Has she sent you a picture?\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘No! I don\u2019t need a picture. I don\u2019t care what she looks like.\u2019 <\/p>\n

‘Okay. Wow.\u2019 <\/p>\n

You\u2019d have to say that it would have to be the real thing here. When looks don\u2019t count, when seeing them in person doesn\u2019t count? Wow. Go out and buy a ring. How many of you wish something that magical would happen to you? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
