CALLER: Hi, Rush. How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen, since you\u2019re somewhat of an historian —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and you\u2019re a Godsend on, you know, letting everybody know exactly who the Democrats are, how they\u2019re bordering on communism, I wanted to ask you something. I admired presidents like Truman, and even Roosevelt, and I was wondering what you thought of them, Truman as far as how he would handle Islamofascism and so forth.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Truman and FDR both had something in common: They were not afraid to fight and beat the enemy.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Truman, of course, was hated — you understand, he was as hated as Bush during his presidency. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You might not know that because you weren\u2019t alive. He was despised.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is what we keep saying about other presidents, look at the history that\u2019s written long after Harry Truman is gone and their contemporaries are gone. Who was it in the seventies — yeah, late seventies, it was Chicago or somebody sang a song ‘Harry Truman, where are you, please come back\u2019? Was it Chicago that sang —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wasn\u2019t that part of a play?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I think it was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: A play on Truman, and that\u2019s where this —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. FDR, same thing on World War II. I mean you can\u2019t deny — you can get into some arguments, you know, that FDR let some things happen in order to get us out. I don\u2019t want to go there. My big problem with FDR was on the domestic side.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Social Security was one of the greatest tricks, one of the greatest political sleights of hand to ever be played in American politics. It gave us the welfare state, and its purpose was to empower Democrats in power, electorally and politically forever, and they came close to succeeding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
