RUSH: This is Dee in Aurora, Colorado, great to have you with us. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh, It\u2019s… It\u2019s Aurora, Ohio.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Two slipups on the party — and that made you think that maybe I took the wrong call, right, and that\u2019s why you paused and hesitated?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, that\u2019s exactly right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My question to you is because I am absolutely beside myself, Rush. Why in the world would you make a statement that you may not — for the first time not — vote in this election this year? Wouldn\u2019t any one of the Republican candidates be better than Hillary or Obama?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Um, that\u2019s an interesting question that you asked. What I said was that I, for the first time on this program, I can see possibly not voting for the Republican nominee.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But, Rush, there\u2019s enough of us… We all have problems with the fact that none of them are true conservatives, but isn\u2019t something better than nothing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, let me try and explain it to you this way. If one such as myself happens to believe that there\u2019s not too much of a substantive difference between Mrs. Clinton and a couple of the Republican potential nominees — and if I believe that either the Republican or Democrat nominee is going to cause great damage and harm to the country — I would just as soon it happen on the watch of a Democrat.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, that certainly helps. That makes me feel a little better.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, that statement I made is based on substantive analysis. It was a knee-jerk, and I didn\u2019t just throw it out there to be picked up. I knew it would be, but that\u2019s not why I threw it out there, and I\u2019ll tell you, Dee, it\u2019s rooted in the fact that — I\u2019m blue in the face here — I\u2019m a conservative first and a, quote, unquote, Republican second — and party unity, at the expense of conservative principles and values to me is not advancing things.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, in the case of Rudy Giuliani… I know you\u2019re not going to back anybody. I\u2019m not really quite sure who I\u2019m going to back, who I\u2019m going to vote for, but at least he said he would appoint conservative judges. And fiscally he\u2019s good. Crime he\u2019s good. I mean, you know, if you really have to weigh it all, to me, that\u2019s where it is right now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have weighed it all. I didn\u2019t say that there are no Republicans that I would vote for. Did you assume I meant that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, no, no, no. No. Just a couple, maybe one. (sigh) It\u2019s not all of them by any stretch of the imagination.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, good. I\u2019m glad to hear that. As usual, you always have the right answers that make you feel better.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I appreciate that, and thank you for calling and questioning rather than going off knee-jerk.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, it was bothering me terribly. I was kind of nervous to call but I had to get beyond that nervousness.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, see, once you get past your fears, life opens up for you. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You faced the fear, you confronted it, and now you\u2019re going away satisfied and perhaps even more since you did it. So it\u2019s great to have you calling. I appreciate it, Dee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
