RUSH: All right, Darrell in Sacramento, my adopted hometown. I\u2019m glad you called, sir. Thank you very much for waiting.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, how you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just fine, sir. Thanks.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, this is Darrell from Sacramento. I\u2019ve listened to you since 1992 when Bush ran against Clinton the first time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Anyway, I was just wondering if there\u2019s a good chance that John McCain is going to be the nominee tomorrow, are you going to be able to get behind him this November?<\/p>\n

RUSH: If there\u2019s a good chance McCain will be the nominee, am I going to be able to get behind him in November?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sooner or later, I mean, will you come around and…? Because it\u2019s — out here we got a saying, ‘ABC: Anything But Clinton,\u2019 and anybody but Clinton. We\u2019ll take anything, even Obama over Clinton.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand that sentiment.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I understand that sentiment is very strong. I understand that sentiment is making people look past what they might get instead of Clinton, which might be pretty much the same thing, with some variations. But, yes, my decision on who to vote for in November is not going to be made tomorrow. It\u2019s not going to be made tonight. It\u2019s not going to be made in March, which is the point of saying it\u2019s a long campaign to go. This quote that people have me saying, that I said to Howard Kurtz is being misinterpreted, because when I used the word ‘if,\u2019 I meant the future. If down the road I think that our candidate\u2019s going to be no different than Hillary or Obama, I\u2019m just content to let the Democrats take the hit for the mess they\u2019re going to make of the country. I stand by that, but I haven\u2019t made that decision now. Who knows what\u2019s going to happen between now and November, regardless who wins the party nominations. Thanks for the call, Darrell.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, it\u2019s absolutely wonderful to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Longtime supporter, listener. My Rush, the maverick.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just have a — call it a theory or what have you, but the media obviously, you\u2019ve been talking about it all day, they support McCain, or at least they\u2019re not against him. I just have the feeling that if he becomes the nominee for the Republican Party that after that, that they\u2019ll kind of turn on him and try to utilize the conservatives in the Republican Party and his past record, his voting record, to get their Democratic nominee in.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? You think the Drive-By Media will turn against McCain after he\u2019s the nominee?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would see it as a very good possibility.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stories about his temperament, stories about his age, can he hold up, things like that, you mean?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Could be.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow, you\u2019re really on to something there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And the other thing, I think they really look at this as an opportunity to have kind of a safety net, because if they don\u2019t accomplish what they want, at least they\u2019re getting McCain, which to at least us, might as well be Obama or Hillary.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think you\u2019re right on the money. McCain\u2019s insurance policy, if their lib doesn\u2019t win, our lib will. They got an open borders lib in there, somebody that\u2019s not going to really cut taxes, you\u2019re very perceptive, Charles, I\u2019m glad you called. Who do we have next? CALLER: Hi, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi. This is so awesome. Mega dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m very excited to talk to you. Listen, I voted my very first presidential election, the 1980 presidential election, walked into the voting booth, cast my vote for Ronald Reagan, and there was a sense of pride there. It was awesome to be able to do that and then to watch over the next four and then eight years to see what he accomplished. I\u2019ve got an 18-year-old son who\u2019s going to be voting in this election. I don\u2019t know what to say to him. I don\u2019t know how to — not that I\u2019m going to tell him what to do, but I don\u2019t know how to advise him. I don\u2019t know what direction to help him, and I need your help on that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is assuming that McCain\u2019s the nominee.<\/p>\n

CALLER: True. My thought, if it\u2019s McCain, I don\u2019t know — I have the thought that I just won\u2019t even vote this time, and I never thought I\u2019d say that. You know, I\u2019m the ‘if you don\u2019t vote, don\u2019t complain.\u2019<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is pure anecdotal, but I\u2019m getting lots of e-mails over the course of weeks, lots of e-mails from people saying that. I don\u2019t know how much faith to put in that, how much stock to put in the fact that people won\u2019t vote. I\u2019ll just tell you, there\u2019s far more apathy or anger out there than the Republican establishment knows. Look it, one question I asked myself, if, if, if, if down the road you think that the election of Obama, Hillary, or McCain is going to result in very bad things happening to the country, who would you rather get the blame for it? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
