CALLER: No, I don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
RUSH: And he graduated from Junipero Serra High School.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Could be Barry Bonds.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, yes, but it\u2019s not Barry Bonds I\u2019m referring to. Well, actually Tom Brady graduated there, too, but Bill Keller, the editor of the New York Times is from San Mateo. I don\u2019t know if he went to Junipero Serra High School.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Perhaps he takes steroids.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Perhaps he needs \u2019em.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Hey, I\u2019ve got an interesting perspective, I want your thoughts on it. My first vote was for Reagan, and I\u2019ve been a lifelong conservative, but in looking at this crop to vote for, I certainly have a very difficult time voting for McCain, and I don\u2019t see that any one of them would ever be able to pull the troops out just because I don\u2019t think that the Democrats would ever have the cojones to do it because they don\u2019t want to hang that millstone around their own neck.<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s exactly my theory, too, and they\u2019ve all said this in debates at one time or another. They have all said they could not pledge to have the troops out of there by 2013 when the first term was over. Well, I think that\u2019s true, I don\u2019t think that they would pull out, and they\u2019re certainly not going to saddle themselves with defeat, the situation in Iraq is such that if somebody wanted to claim victory right now, they couldn\u2019t pull \u2019em out.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: But, beyond that, did you hear this whopper Obama told last night in the debate?<\/p>\n
CALLER: What is that?<\/p>\n
RUSH: I want you to listen to this with me, Eric.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: I heard from an Army captain, who was the head of a rifle platoon, supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon, ended up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of soldiers had been sent to Iraq, and, as a consequence, they didn\u2019t have enough ammunition, they didn\u2019t have enough Humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander-in-chief. Now, that\u2019s a consequence of bad judgment, and, you know, the question is, on the critical issues that we face right now, who\u2019s going to show the judgment to lead?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Did you hear that?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, I certainly didn\u2019t know that George Bush was personally handing out ammunition —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Do you even believe that? He was not asked for one bit of evidence to support it. He was not asked to name the Army captain.<\/p>\n
CALLER: No.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Now, the problem with Obama when it comes to foreign policy goes way beyond Iraq, and that is this guy can\u2019t wait to work his messianic magic on the thugs and dictators of the world from Ahmadinejad to Bashar Assad, to Putin, to whoever\u2019s running the ChiComs when Obama would get there. What\u2019s dangerous is Obama thinks his own country is the problem in the world. Not these guys. And he thinks that the power of his personality and his messianic Second Coming aura will be able to convince these guys that we mean them no harm. It\u2019s childlike, it\u2019s junior high conflict resolution, and he wants to bring it to the oval orifice.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, my take on him is that, you know, he talks a good game when he\u2019s by himself, and he\u2019s been, you know, a leader from the point of view of one of many who\u2019s never had to make an individual decision, you know, never had to be individually responsible. So these guys always talk a big game when they\u2019re hiding in a group. But when they\u2019re leader, you know, of the free world, all of a sudden everybody is looking at you and the decisions are for real. And I think that he\u2019s highly pliable, both by his party, but also by the American people when it comes to having to do what\u2019s needed to be done by the president regardless of all the —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Very risky, very risky theory. You don\u2019t know that. You\u2019re just guessing.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, you know, I am guessing, but —<\/p>\n
RUSH: If we can\u2019t take people at their word, if we can\u2019t judge them on what — I went through this in 1992 with Clinton, and people were making up what they thought Clinton would do despite the fact that Clinton couldn\u2019t tell the truth to save his life during the campaign, despite the fact he was lying about the economy, lying about pretty much everything. People wanted to look past that because they wanted him to be what they wanted him to be, and they thought he would be once he got to Washington.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Are you saying that any one of these three candidates somehow doesn\u2019t fall under that same umbrella?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, yeah, Mrs. Clinton is probably a known quantity, and that suggests we don\u2019t vote for her.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Very much a known quantity. Senator McCain, sadly, is also a known quantity, especially the last eight years. Now, the years prior to that, Senator McCain behaved in a totally different way, ideologically and politically, but after he lost the presidential primary in 2000, I mean, you go look, Ann Coulter did this, they boast about his 82% American Conservative Union rating, but it\u2019s in the low sixties or high fifties in the last eight years.<\/p>\n
CALLER: My take on it is that, you know, you can call him a known quantity but I think that the known quantity for all of them is that they\u2019re driven by their egos, not by principle.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, yeah, okay, in these three guys\u2019 cases, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That\u2019s bad, too.<\/p>\n
CALLER: It is. It\u2019s the worst crop I\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah. Two of them say it\u2019s my turn, and the other one is saying, God\u2019s anointed me.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Let me ask you this. And this is a strange —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Ten seconds.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Okay. Is it worth it to have Barack Obama be president in order to get the civil rights issue off the table once and forever?<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s a great question, because it won\u2019t get the civil rights issue off the table. I had some black voters tell me that earlier this week. ‘Don\u2019t think you\u2019re going to be so lucky, Rush.\u2019<\/p>\n
BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n
RUSH: Our last caller asked a really good question: ‘If Obama gets elected president, wouldn\u2019t it be good to just get this done, Rush, then we could end those civil rights squabbles that we\u2019re having?\u2019 It wouldn\u2019t do that, folks, it wouldn\u2019t do that. It might even exacerbate them. Let me explain how. It takes somebody like me who can read the stitches on the fastball. Let us fast forward to January of 2009, Obama has been inaugurated president and he proposes his first bit of legislation. Let\u2019s say that it\u2019s — I don\u2019t know — some civil rights-oriented thing, and a bunch of people start howling. You know that the race industry can\u2019t wait for this. Any criticism of Obama, the first black president, is going to be met with charges of racism by the likes of the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton. It will make their race business all that much more prominent. It will operate on the premise that half of this country is seething, can\u2019t believe this has happened and they\u2019re going to fix this somehow, cannot believe there\u2019s a black man in the White House and a black woman in the residence. That will be the theme that the race business operates on. It will be full of presumptuousness and projection, but it will propel it.<\/p>\n
We aren\u2019t going to get rid of the civil rights squabbles in this country in our lifetime, folks, I don\u2019t care if Obama is elected president, isn\u2019t going to happen, until the Democrat Party — and this isn\u2019t going to happen, either — until the Democrat Party decides to tell Jackson and Sharpton, you\u2019re out. Until the Democrat Party doesn\u2019t need 90% of the black vote in order to win the presidency we\u2019re always going to have the civil rights movement and we\u2019re always going to have the Democrat Party pandering. (interruption) Well, that will be the first week, Snerdley, yes. He\u2019s talking about, remember when General Dinkins was elected mayor for life in New York City. Was it actually when he won the mayoralty, or was this primaries? Yeah, I\u2019ll never forget this. All the tabloids in New York — I was there — Dinkins wins, and the morning after the election the newspapers were filled with stories such as, the birds are chirping louder today, the panhandlers are nicer, the sun seems brighter. I\u2019m not kidding. This and more was in the papers. Then General Dinkins started being criticized. Oh… and exactly what I said will happen with Obama started happening with General Dinkins. History will repeat itself.<\/p>\n
So as long as the Democrat Party thrives on the civil rights movement, which is made up of much more than just African-American issues, by the way, then there will always be civil rights problems. They manufacture \u2019em. They invent them. Don\u2019t you understand, the Democrat Party exists to keep people mad. The Democrat Party exists to keep this country in chaos. That\u2019s the only way the Democrats think that they can profit, is from chaos. Don\u2019t forget it, folks. A happy country is the worst thing that could happen for the Democrats. What\u2019s good for America is bad for them. What\u2019s bad for America is good for them. Look at how they\u2019re running. They\u2019re running on a platform, a stool that\u2019s got one leg: America sucks. America has failed. America is over. America is not exceptional. America is the problem. There\u2019s always been the-blame-America-first-faction in the Democrat Party.
