Fox News, Jeff Goldblatt, they posted this on their website yesterday: ‘This was supposed to be the week that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. returned to the pulpit to preach for the first time since his anti-American sermons generated nationwide outrage and drew condemnation from his longtime parishioner, Barack Obama. But, citing security concerns, Wright canceled his speaking engagements in Florida and Texas. A spokeswoman at his former church in Chicago said his schedule is pending. A two-week Fox News investigation, however, has uncovered where Wright will be spending a good deal of his time in retirement, and it is a far cry from the impoverished Chicago streets where the preacher led his ministry for 36 years. Fox News has uncovered documents that indicate Wright is about to move to a 10,340-square-foot, four-bedroom home in suburban Chicago, currently under construction in a gated community.’ The price of the home is 1.6 million dollars.

‘While it is not uncommon for an accomplished clergyman to live in luxury, Wright’s retirement residence is raising some questions. Andrew Walsh, Associate Director of the Leonard E. Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life with Trinity College in Hartford, Conn –‘ that’s where George Will went, by the way. ”Some people think deals like this are hypocritical. Jeremiah Wright himself criticizes people from the pulpit for middle classism, for too much materialism. So he’s entitled to be tweaked here. So the question really is, how unusual is this? Somewhat unusual,’ he said. According to documents obtained from the Cook County Register of Deeds, Wright purchased two empty lots in Tinley Park, Ill., from Chicago restaurant chain owner Kenny Lewis for $345,000 in 2004. Documents show Wright sold the property to his church, Trinity United, in December 2006, with the proceeds going to a living trust shared with his wife.’ So he gave the money to himself.

‘The sale price for the land was just under $308,000, about $40,000 less than Wright’s original purchase two years earlier. Public records of the sale show Trinity initially obtained a $10 million bank loan to purchase the property and build a new house on the land. But further investigation with tax and real estate attorneys showed that the church had actually secured a $1.6 million mortgage for the home purchase, and attached a $10 million line of credit, for reasons unspecified in the paperwork. There is apparently nothing wrong with that, according to non-profit tax expert Jack Siegel of Charity Governance Consulting, who examined public documents Fox News obtained from the Cook County Register of Deeds and the Village of Tinley Park. ‘At least looking at it from a public document standpoint, there’s clearly not a problem that jumps out or some sort of wrongdoing,’ Siegel said.’ Well, what is the problem? This story goes on to say that it’s quite common for parishioners to outfit their pastors in homes, rectories, with great luxury. Yes, I will admit that. It’s hard to get a preacher, hard to keep a good preacher, so you give ’em the house and whatever else. But this guy’s preaching against it for everybody else!

By the way, might I ask a question. Remember that speech that Michelle (My Belle) Obama gave in Ohio prior to the Ohio primary in which she was talking to a bunch of we’d have to say lower middle class women in the audience. I think it was in Zanesville. She was going and on and on about how hard it had been for her and Barack, because their student loans were going to drag into their forties, and until Barack hit it big with a couple of books, they were worried about their futures, and all these women in the audience are nodding their heads. And then Michelle (My Belle) Obama began preaching against middle classness, middle classism. She specifically urged the women in that audience to avoid corporate careers. Do not go to Wall Street; don’t mess around with hedge funds; don’t become a corporate lawyer; stay in service to the needy, stay in the help jobs, stay in those jobs that, while very valuable, very important, don’t pay much. She used the term, avoid middle classness.

Now, the reason this is important is because people are trying to figure out, okay, here’s Barack Obama, who has spent 20 years with this guy, the preacher, he’s a mentor, he’s a spiritual advisor, he was a preacher, and Obama is still out making excuses for the guy, ‘Well, yeah, if he had done this many sermons over 20 years, you can take a soundbite,’ all of this stuff to try to excuse it, and it’s not working because people are still harping on it. Now we have the connection. We know for a fact that Reverend Jeremiah Wright had a profound impact on Michelle (My Belle) Obama because she’s out there urging voters in Ohio prior to the primary, the same thing Reverend Wright’s telling his flock. And while Reverend Wright’s telling his flock to avoid middle classism or middle classness, in other words, don’t try to acquire material things, don’t go out there and try to find nice houses, that’s not what it’s about, that’s playing the game in a country run by rich white people. Michelle (My Belle) Obama is echoing it, so we know that he had a profound effect on her because she’s out there spewing exactly what this guy’s been saying himself to his flock.

We have to assume, ladies and gentlemen, because we’re talking about a presidential race here, we have to assume that Barack Obama was seminally influenced. By the way, I didn’t get to this yesterday, but there was an interesting piece by Lisa Fabrizio at American Spectator Online. And she said, (paraphrasing) ‘Wait a minute, can we back off? Can we get rid of some of the emotion here about Reverend Wright?’ Who was he talking about running the country? Rich white people. And Lisa Fabrizio’s point — I’m going to have to paraphrase this, I don’t have her piece in front of me from yesterday. ‘He may have a point about the rich white people running this country. But the point he didn’t mention is that the rich white people he’s talking about are on his side of the political aisle. The liberal Democrats are doing the same thing he’s doing, trying to keep people stuck in whatever economic class that they’re in. They are not for economic growth; they’re not for the emancipation of people. They are for the continued suffering of people so that Democrats as runners of government come along and make it okay. So while he’s out there trashing rich white people, he’s actually trashing his fellow Democrats and his fellow socialists.’ I’m really making her point briefly, but that’s what it is.

So this is going to continue, these little dribs and drabs of information about the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. In fact, here’s an AP story. ‘White House hopeful Barack Obama suggests he would have left his Chicago church had his longtime pastor not resigned. ‘Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws –” why do you have to add that? See, you just have to throw that in, don’t you, Barack? Here’s Barack again, ‘Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws,’ now, don’t misunderstand, folks, I know we’re not perfect, but he has to throw that in because his constituency doesn’t like this country. His constituency is angry at this country. I’m talking about liberals. No race comment here. I’m talking about liberals. So he has to say the country’s flawed, it has to be flawed because Bush is running it! Then he says, ‘I wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying at the church [if he hadn’t retired.]” during a taping of the ABC talk show, The View.

By the way, we have five sound bites from this show today. Folks, you may need to go out and get some diabetes medicine, because this is so sugary sweet, phony baloney, plastic banana, good time rock ‘n’ roller that your insulin is going to skyrocket. The Arousal Gap is back. These babes on The View were treating Obama like Clinton got treated in the 90s. I’m telling you, the Arousal Gap is back. That’s where he said this today, it was on The View. ‘Well, if Reverend Wright hadn’t stepped down, why, I would have left the church.’ No, Barry, we are not buying it. And don’t forget, Obama is now apologizing left and right over all of this.

(playing of Barack Obama apology spoof)

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, I just love this guy, in a way.
